Having now heard both themes in tis thread, I'm still mixed, but, nothing will ever beat Lion's version.

Aside from that, there are tons of good artists out there, but since this is a major studio release, you are only going to get the Sony/WEA bands, and it's apparent they want to keep it safe with "bands you know".

Agreed. Unfortunately we pretty much only get to enjoy Nuclear Blast and Century Media bands on Uwe Boll and low grade horror movies. Well at least those guys have good taste in music or some of their staff do.

It was pretty obvious from early on (at least when Bay came on board) that it was going to be big label bands on the soundtrack.

After listening to both versions of the new theme, I find them both pretty laughable but the "fake" one even more. As for the "real" version: What a horrible drum beat, abysmal lyrical arrangement and overall wimpyness. Haven't seen the movie yet so this theme could be just perfect for it.

If there had to be a new version of the theme, why not have it done properly by an actual composer or at least a collaboration with one and do a version with orchestral elements or just a full blown orchestral version. Vince DiCola kind of did this already with the updated version only it was an instrumental and sounded a bit synthy as anyone might expect from DiCola.

Seriously, Mevrix, you might as well write what happens to Jazz in the freekin movie. I'm tired of this ****. I stayed away from the script, movie adaptation (book and comic), but people come in and say things like "I like Jazz's design, too bad about him SPOILER...." or "The reason Jazz isn't in the song is because SPOILER...." Or "We all know what's happening to Jazz in the trailer SPOILER..." We aren't that stupid. Maybe I'm wrong and Jazz joins a knitting club and becomes EMO with Megatron, but I'm pretty sure that 99% of the people reading these comments (all quoted from real people in real non-spoiler message boards) in a non-spoiler setting can figure out what it meant by these statements without reading the (super-hidden) text. I'm not super ticked or anything, because like I said, I figured this out months ago when the first person in another board posted the comment about his design, but there might be still people staying away from even boards for that reason and just happen to stumble upon the soundtrack board and see this one thing that might ruin aspects of the movie. Even context clues should be considered spoiler if they might be too obvious. But if Jazz becomes EMO, then accept my apologese in advance

"Nothing's ever better than the original!" that's what I always say, that's why I only drink the original Mountain Dew.

Anyway, I just listened to the theme from they're Myspace, doesn't live up to Lion's theme, but I still enjoyed. I think we should breath a sigh of relief, we got lucky here!

I hate spoilers about films I'm anticipating this much, but due to things like this, I'm finding out stuff I don't want to know.

the theme wasn't lousy, but it didn't seem good enough for the giant robot guys. the rollcall seemed like a bad imitation of the Cybertron theme, and the rapping did not fit in with the whole notion of the Transformers.

Also: wans't there something a loong time ago about Stan Bush doing the theme for this movie? so whats this... Mutiemath doing?

If they wanted to make it "G1" style, they should've stuck with the original, at least it sounded better. This just blows. And is that supposed to be a rap roll call of the Autobots? Wow!

I think I'll just get my old copy of the original tracks and dub over.
