I want to see it too! I love Bryson's books, and having Redford, Nolte, and Thompson in it is a major bonus.
If I ever get to a point in life where time and money are no concern, I'd love to do what they did in the book.

Do you mean waste lots of money on needlessly expensive equipment, nearly get mauled by bears, and not finish a task to completion? We can help you with that.
That's not what I meant, therefore I don't need your help. But thanks for the offer anyway. ;)^

Indeed it is. Very good show, watched the pilot, bought the entire season to stream just this morning. But, as much as I know you love DC ;) , we'll be keeping the discussion of DC limited, and indeed all other major properties, including Marvel and any cartoon TV shows from the 80s. :-$ As there are threads provided for almost all of them by a dearly departed Seibertron member known as Duragrip.

Is "Gotham" as good as "Smallville"? I stopped watching "Smallville" after the 2nd or 3rd season. How did it end?

It is better. And it ended quite badly, completely cheapened out one of the best villains in it.

What makes Gotham better than Smallville? Smallville went 7 seasons which is an eternity for a superhero genre show.

Well, the characters are all brick stupid, for one. Plus, none of the heroes can actually get anything done, since that wouldn't leave anything for Batman to do. And whoever was in charge of casting isn't familiar with a few characters, at least not Penguin. But it's better because...it hasn't been on TV long enough for everyone to stop caring yet. That's all I got.

Love that movie!

On a side note... is DuraGalvaMegaGrip actually following up questions he's had answered with questions that take that answer into account? Truly this is a sign of the end times.

While I'm here, any of you watched Black Dynamite? The movie is an amazing, and lovingly crafted satire of 1970s Blaxploitation era films. It's pretty funny, and the lengths they went to in order to make it look authentic to the period make for a truly enjoyable experience... and there's a kung fu fight with Richard Nixon in it, how can you go wrong? There's also a cartoon based on the movie, which is hilarious.

I know *shudder* :-s

So, I started a new BBC miniseries yesterday, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, two episodes in, really intrigued by it. It has a very different flavor to it then most fantasy series I've seen recently. Plus I really like the cinematography and lighting.

Oh and a few more words about Last Starfighter...

A modern trailer (just for fun) :

Web Article.
https://www.yahoo.com/movies/the-last-s ... 99732.html

Because it's a slow burn movie that people seem to discovered they have a nostalgic fondness for (a bit like Flight of the Navigator, Goonies, or The Explorers).. there is starting to be some talk of a sequel. (see above article).

------

To offer another suggestion though :
Here is a Movie that is pretty much forgotten :
Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone that is worth another look... It's big dumb fun..

Motion Sickness: The Movie, looks like. The camera looks steadier than Cloverfield, at least, but did they really have to use a fish eye lens for everything?

Y'know, I had serious doubts about this movie, but that trailer makes it look pretty good. Reminds me of TaleSpin.

Anyone else looking forward to The Scorch Trials? The 1st Maze Runner was pretty good.

I'm disappointed that Pacific rim 2 has more or less been cancelled at this point, the first wasn't a masterpiece but it was fun, a sequel could of improved it. Though it doesn't bug me as much as when del toro pretty much canned At The Mountains Of Madness citing budget reasons and studios not wanting to take a risk. As a lovecraft fan, I was bummed out. Tempted by crimson peak though.

I went and watched it today, and it was good! I think it was better than the first (probably should have watched that in the last week so I remember things better), but what was really good about it is it wasn't a slow boring bridging movie. It follows on from the first one, keeps its pace most of the way through (some fast points and some slow points) so it keeps you engrossed, and wraps itself up with enough rope left hanging for the next movie.

There were a few times which I could call "edge of your seat" moments but only one "GAH! WTF WAS THAT?!" catch you off-guard moments.

If you liked the first one then I recommend catching this one in the cinemas if you can.

Also Silent Hills getting canned by Konami and their apparent hatred of money. Man, Guillermo Del Toro has not been having a great couple of years, has he?

True, add in his project with THQ crashing because of the latter's bankruptcy and I don't blame him for not wanting to get involved with the games industry now, which is all our loss.

Though speaking of del toro, I keep hearing demands of hellboy 3, but I definitely think it's a situation of be careful of what you wish for.
