I... might get this, might not. It looks good, and having an MP Prime with a trailer would be nice.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Prime looks really good, but he sure is expensive... I don't have a masterpiece Prime, so if I save up my money, I might get this.

I don't like the grill in bot mode. But I want an MP Prime with the trailer. The only one I have is the one I bought at Goodwill for $5 a month or two ago, and it doesn't have a head so I call it Headless Prime. So, I guess I should add I want an MP Prime with a trailer and a head. The price is awfully steep and I wish they hadn't scaled it down, but I'm considering this.
Just one question: Do these Takara Masterpiece toys ever get marked down for U.S. buyers? My impression from looking at prices now and then over the past couple years is you're unlikely to get better than the initial retail price, though I wasn't watching like a hawk.

For sale: My entire Transformers and third-party collection. Includes Masterpiece, Generations, Universe, Movie, Prime, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, G1, G2, a few Japanese imports, etc. Many never opened, the rest displayed in enclosed display cases to keep the dust off. A few ads on Craigslist/OfferUp for DC/MD/VA locals, will post on boards or ebay when I have time.

I really like it. I'll pick it up for sure.
Not sure how I feel about Convoy keeping his gun in his "backside" though. Seems a little "cheeky" to me "butt" I'm sure he's "pulling something bigger up the rear" anyways...

Do they ever, yes. Will this one, it's anyone's guess. But when they do, it's usually like 10-15% off. You could probably just get it that much cheaper ordering from somewhere like amiami.jp or hlj.com right off the bat. The online stores here will charge something like 250 + 15 shipping and I would guess the two I mentioned will charge something along the lines of 210 + 30 shipping...so you still save your $25 and get it a year earlier...

Didn't MP-04 debut with a price point of $200? In what way can this cost more?
I think I'll hold off until next year before buying this guy. After the initial buzz has died down, maybe he'll be slightly cheaper.

I've been ranting about that for weeks. MP-04's original retail was $180
You paying more in this release for less plastic and die cast.
And before anyone starts on the cost of produtcion thing, no. There's no excuse for that.
This is just pinching pennies.

Am I the only one who feels like its when they release smaller Optimus Prime toys for those who can't afford the larger ones, except they're charging the same price for far less?
Why are people prepared to pay the same price for a far smaller figure, just because it has gun storage, a cheap plastic toy of a boy and a small car?
Not to mention some of the cooler features of MP01, like the light-up Matrix, have not been mentioned at all. And sure, its in scale with Grimlock, but logically Optimus SHOULD tower over Rodimus, considering the size of their vehicle modes.
I'll stay with my MP04 Optimus.

Subtle. Real subtle.

OK, after the original shock of fugly wore off, I am not as disgusted with this as I was. I still don't think it's worth $275, and the robot mode is still crap, but I will admit it would look neat on my shelf in truck mode. I display my MP-01 Convoy in robot mode always, so this would be good to go with it. But I won't buy it at this price. Maybe a lot cheaper a few years down the line. Who knows, maybe by then they will actually come out with a Powermaster Prime. One other plus I think is that it's the same height as Grimlock or Rodimus, thus making it both cartoon and comics accurate.

This mold is not better than the mp1, the proportions are no where as well done as the first, the reason is for the more accurate truck mode, plus the igear version looks amazing scaled down.
The inclusion of a neck does make this a masterpiece as that is the one thing that transformers have usualy gone without, it looks like there maybe some waist articulation like revoltech now that would be worth it,

If this beautiful hunk of plastic/metal is supposed to be made by Takara, how come all the pictures have HASBRO written all over them?
Does this mean a possible release of Mini-Prime in the States/United Kingdom? Possibly so. All we need is a down-sized Megatron that Hasbro will allow to go along with this guy and I'll be good for over three years!

Well, MP Prime set a bar that, quite frankly hasn't been met yet by any other release. I doubt this guy can meet it.

I forgot, what issue was that?
I could've sworn I saw Prime does something like that from the regular cartoon serie. Sure it's not a clear shot as shown from EJSu, but something like that. Yeah, I'm excluding TFTM where Prime leap up the air and pull out his gun.

It looks nice and there are some interesting features. My only question - why now? Takara should have released this figure 2 years ago or 2 years in the future. It's not like MP01 is a figure that fans have been dying for a remake.

MP-01 is a hard figure to beat, and the more I look at MP-10 the more I just don't care about it.
The only thing I really see as an improvement is the cab mode. The robot mode is not as good as the MP-01 or 04.
It's like the tried to combined he Hybrid with the MP and this is what they got.
Don't get me wrong. This is a very nice figure, but not at the $250 price tag.

Why now? Indeed. I just knew they wouldn't give us the Galvatron we wanted no matter how logical the timing was to release him.

Now that I think about it this Prime shouldn't be considered MP. So does anyone know will this figure be all plastic or will it have some or all metal?

They have plenty of detail, just as much if not more than MP01.

MP01 has already been beaten, THS 02 has more articulation, detail, accessories and just generally kicks more ass than MP01.

Gotta disagree there. Great bot mode, but its alt mode is a lot closer to Classics deluxe Prime than MP Prime's. THS-02 is entirely overrated. He's a fantastic GI Joe of an Optimus Prime...but a mediocre Transformer thanks to a fiddly transform and a s**t alt mode.
