As much as this looks good I was really hoping for a Galvatron this time around, just seemed logical after Rodimus. After all the different Prime releases they decide to back to yet another Prime ?! I personally don't get it.....
Looks nice though, but not for that price.

I'm sorry but $250 for a MP figure that's smaller than MP-04 isn't justifiable. If the cost of making toys is such that there has to be this kind of an increase I think Takara should take a break from the MP line. *sigh* I do like how the Ion Cannon stores though.

I can certainly understand that. I'm feeling it too but I'm distracted from it because this is actually exciting to me. The price is pretty large for this too which is a huge bummer to me. I'm thinking I would be surprised if Hasbro were to release this at all. They'd have to seriously cut certain features to make it affordable stateside. These are things Takara/Tomy don't have to figure in as much.

This will be a really nice add to my collection. I have the US MP-04 but I've always felt that it could have been done better. There's something a little too plain about it. I never got a trailer for it so it wont hurt so bad if/when I sell him. This might not be perfect but it's damn close. And, in my opinion, there's nothing from the DOTM line that is better for my money than this. I'll be burned if a US version comes out for less, though.

They should redo Megs and do a Shockwave, Galvatron, and Soundwave. Them and the rest of the Dinobots. That's all just instant gold because everyone would want them all.

First impressions: I'm not all out floored by it, but I still fully intend to get it...unless of course the one touch transform statement is somehow true and related to the fig itself. I don't see how it could be possible, but if they somehow pulled it off...no thanks. I'd have no interest in a $250 gravity bot. That's one of the things I enjoy the most about Transformers...the ability to transform them! If I just wanted to watch it happen I'd turn on the cartoon, movie, video game, etc...

Looks nice, but I already have one quite like it but bigger.

I'm surprised (and happily impressed) that there is so much love for this figure. I like the many little improvements in this version of the figure.Robot mode looks great and truck mode is definitely improved, but I already have an awesome MP Prime. So not feeling much excitement here.

I hope they repaint him into an Ultra Magnus with transforming trailer/armour, as then I'll happily buy this mould.

(PS. Guys, with regards to the "one-touch transformation"... I'll happily bet 1000 bucks that he does not transform from bot to truck at the press of a button. Have a think about it, then look at the pics, then have a think about it

To be fair, I did preface my statement by saying I don't think it's actually possible... But since the ad clearly states as much, even though something was very likely lost in translation, I commented on it.

I was pretty upset with the original news of this figure, mainly because there are already so many Primes, I'd much rather see a different character. Also, the price is atrocious.

Now that I see it, I sort of want it, but there are flaws. The vehicle mode looks MUCH more realistic, which is great, but I think the bot mode proportions have suffered. I like the smaller waist area and the excellent headsculpt and details, but the proportions are off. His lower legs are too short, and his lower arms are too long. His ab/lower torso area is too tall as well. The wheel covers and fuel tanks are so crowded in that area. It's just strangely-proportioned all around. Both the MP-01 and THS-02 molds got the bot mode proportions better, IMO, and I own both already. Articulation looks to be better than MP-01, and about on-par with THS-02.

Also, look how fat/tall the back of the truck is in vehicle mode, and how narrow the tires are. The trailer is great and I like the inclusion of the Sparkplug figure, but other than that and the folding gun (coolest feature of them all), it's pretty much just an upsized THS-02 trailer. I guess I'm nitpicking at this point, but it's not the perfect rendition Takara was probably going for, and it's too expensive.

One other positive for me though, is that the transformation seems to be rather involved. Notice on his back, the sides of the bumper and headlights jut out, which means there's some twisting and folding involved to get from one to the other. But I don't think they cheated with the chest windows. Very intriguing...

I think I'll likely wait and see, and hope it gets released as Powermaste Prime or Magnus with armor. Or maybe - just maybe - it'll get released by Hasbro. Not to mention I still haven't picked up Rodimus due to the price.

Hmm, anyone notice how the images are all tagged Hasbro? Interesting.

I'm late to the conversation, but oh well.

It's cool, but really lackluster to me.

I think the big thing that's killing it for me right now is the fact the original retail for MP-04 was $180. This one is $250.

If this was around $150, I'd have no issue with it.

How many Convoys in the last year alone? When they were working on a new mold the whole time?

Yeah. I think Takara is pretty cheap.

MP-10 should have been Galvatron.

I gotta half way agree with ya on this. Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking figure, but just how many MP Convoys do we need? They really could have done a couple of new molds, then brought this one out. I like the MP Convoy I have, so I'll pass.

Grille looks way too long, especially in robot mode. I don't really care for how it makes the figure look.

Wow, he IS a marked improvement in almost all areas. Improved head sculpt [he actually has a neck! Win!!!], better proportions in both mode....

I don't have MP Rodimus to make a size comparison, so does anyone know how big this new Optimus is compared to the original MP-1?

He might actually fit into my Classics collection, since I lack Classics OP.

Not crazy about the price, though.

BTW, "Convoy Gun is housed within backside." LOL!!! Gotta love the Japanese and their Engrish....

It looks great and its about time they made a spike figure. But why not make little articulated figures for the classics line or movie line for the delux class figures. And for 250 bucks they probably could have added alittle more to this figure like sparkplug, carly, chip daniel and the exo suits added with spike. How big do you think the spike figure is? :grin:

Okay, so this has caught a few people's attention, lol. Like other people have said, I too was a little peeved that our brand new MasterPiece was going to be another Optimus. But this looks pretty epic. A nice, mean looking Optimus. I may have to subscribe to this one, just when I could do without forking out a further $250. Argh!

He's beautiful. Preordered as of 30 seconds ago.

I kept passing on MP01/04 because he was so large and blocky looking. I simply couldn't bring myself to desire him enough, even though I tried several times. I ended up with the Igear version just because his size was less offensive and made the blockyness less glaring.

But this guy rocks. Shame he's 250 bucks, but I think this time he's probably worth it.

I really didn't like the original MP Convoy. This is a vast improvement as far as I'm concerned.

I've always been highly critical of Masterpiece Transformers, but Rodimus and MP10 Convoy have really impressed me. They've got a much more cartoony look to them.
