Ironically, in Age of Extinction Optimus did use a Mamon COE before switching the the Western Star alt mode he used for the rest of the Film and in Last Knight, while the Evasion Mode figure based on that design used a Frieghtliner, to draw it closer to G1 Optimus.
I'm with you on this, the truck looks bad. It has cat ears.Rtron wrote:We'll see when more images come out, but I feel like the truck mode is a serious step down from the Studio Series one, without really improving on the robot mode beyond the extra size and paint that come with a higher price point. I mean, the Studio Series one is practically perfect in truck mode. I understood it with Starscream, because his MPM robot mode is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Studio Series one. But the alt mode downgrade here just seems pointless.
For this toy, they really embellished the subtle details on his face plate from the movie. I would argue that should have been done via tampo/etc rather than sculpted detail.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Hmmmm, interesting, the robot mode is pretty good, though the head sculpt seems off, but that truck mode is pretty lame compared to other movie primes and even to the SS figure. Not sure what to think about it yet
Tuned Agent wrote:The robot mode looks good for what it is. I've never been a huge fan of the design, especially the head design, but it's hard to fault the toy for being accurate. Head design still sucks though.
The Matrix is an interesting inclusion, I guess the figure just needed more G1.
That truck mode, though... oof. The front is mostly good, but the back half is a mess and the bunny ears unfortunately look like they're transformed correctly. Really disappointing, especially after the Studio Series figure gave us one of, if not the greatest truck mode of all time. The SS figure also had a much better head design, but I digress.

What are you seeing in the back that I'm not. Most of the vehicle mode is blocked off by weapon storage.

He obviously meant the "legs" part of the truck.
That's a big OOFF, but the cat ears is one hell of a raised middle finger.
If I want a "MP Bee Optimus", I'll go 3P or 3-Zero.
Rtron wrote:The studio series truck mode is seriously insane, literally its only fault is the proportions of the back of the truck cab, it even reproduces the weird gappy aspect that truck beds always have.
ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:And complaining about the headache rack being there because of Optimus himself never towing a flatbed is kinda dumb when you consider that has no bearing on what the driver of the real truck he scanned did or didn't haul.

They should just start making non-transforming figures. (Oh that's right. They screwed those up too.)
