Yes, the silver paint is excellent, much better than the plain grey plastic from the original Siege release.

Hasbro should have included the Earthrise Megatron with extensive silver paint, no battle damage, and all of the classic G1 paint applications included. I would have gladly bought Spoiler Pack 3 if that were the case.

I'm going to cancel this one too. If they'd used Earthrise Megatron, I'd have kept it, but I've already got that figure pretty much with the Netflix Voyager class from the original netflix wave.
I like the Paralax, butnot work it to get another siege megatron.

Probably because Megatron still has his Siege body and, unlike with Netflix Optimus, they wanted this release to be show accurate due to the new accessory.

Yes, but are there really many noticeable differences in the bot body between Siege and ER? Honest question, as I don't have the ER version. I see a few differences, but nothing I would consider major.

I doubt it will be, they might have already decided not to bother with Spoiler boxes for what ever follows the Netflix series (assuming that don't start doing a Netflix series for whatever Generations line comes next)

The spoiler pack must follow the story. The Netflix toy line is only repaint and remolds of previous toys.
Galvatron is far from out yet. But he's coming in the main line You'll just have to wait for it.

I'm actually okay with netflix deco take 2 megatron in the spoiler pack. I hadn't quite been willing to double dip on the first one after I got mainline siege, but was still tempted by the deco long after it was no longer easily available. Given I was still getting spoiler pack 3 come hell or high water for the fossilizer alone, I'm content. The matrix bandoleer is an inspired touch, and one I'm definitely going to experiment with putting on other characters to see what sticks. My money is on the allspark replacing the cubes as the playdoh prisoner piece.

It's history repeating itself and they clearly didn't learn the lesson we thought they did. The Ultra Magnus set was a failure, Walmart quickly clearanced it and Hasbro made it available to other online stores for the same clearance price ($35). It looked like they learned their lesson the second time by giving us a new character (Nemesis Prime) and a bunch of extras to ramp up the value. Megatron feels like a real step backwards. Megatron alone is a disappointment being barely different from the first Siege Netflix repaint, Paleotrex is nice and clearly what Hasbro is banking on being the big selling point. That's $30 for Megatron and $23 for Paleotrex leaving $7 to makeup. Are the Matrix, tiny Allspark, and two little effect parts worth $7? I doubt it.

And the real kicker is we don't even know if this represents an actual scene in the show or if it's just another vision of a potential future like Nemesis Prime.

I'm conflicted. I don't want that Megatron but with all the complaining, I think this might be one that's difficult to find later.

It obviously couldn't be leader Galvatron. It obviously couldn't be leader BW Megatron either. It also has to do something with the show.

I just wish it was purple instead of a slightly differently decoed Netflix wave one Megatron. Maybe put him in the G2 Hero colors like LG63. That way it looks different from just another "regular" Megatron but also looks like both Galvatron and BW Megatron. Thus somehow bridging the gap between them. It would also match the Paleotrex it comes with.

I don't know how that could/would play into the story though. It could be a sort of power up from the Matrix and/or Allspark that was corrupted by Megatron having met Galvatron in the Dead Universe or having gone back in time. Or it could just have something to do with the purple Paleotrex. Assuming that Megatron having the Matrix and the Allspark or even the purple Paleotrex have anything to do with the show to begin with. It's not exactly like everything included in the other spoiler boxes had anything to do with the shows as it is.

They've always been spoiled ahead of time and have always lead to mass cancellations (with possible exclusion of the nemesis prime one), I'm not sure why they should be surprised at this point

Spoiler Boxes will always have these mass cancellations, it's a flaw with their entire existence. The main problem with Spoiler packs is that Hasbro has to keep its contents secret, which means people are essentially preordering a blindpack until the contents are revealed.

There is no guarantee on that and no consistency wave to wave, at least in the US. Walmart was the lone source for the first once until they walmarted things up and Hasbro had to open things to everyone else to offload the rest. The second one was Walmart on their own for a short time, then opened up to the other retailers pretty quickly, but that was also a desirable one.

The third one so far is just Walmart and Pulse. No word yet on whether other retailers will be allowed to join.

So that's just a case-to-case basis.
But if the trend continue, that one will be easy to get as well.

That's my whole point, there really isn't a trend, yet. None of the 3 releases went the same way. However, Pulse now carrying retailer exclusives might have changed things in a positive direction. Unfortunately them selling out on Pulse before non-Premium members had access, really puts this wave more like the first than the second for now with Walmart being the only current option. If BBTS and the others get access too in the near future, then we are back to things looking more like the second wave than the first.

In other words, its a mess at best until we have some more info.

I find a completely other set of flaws with the "Spoiler box". Whether it's the contents, or the cryptic messages, does it really ever "spoil" anything? Not really... The first thought shoud be... "We should offer something fans would really want", as opposed to "we need to offer something that happens in the show" (that has minimum to zero impact).

Now to be fair, while the Ultra Magnus Box was a failure, that was ONLY the 2nd use of that mold. I skipped the first one, but wanted the Rung Figure, and got a decent UM out of it.

Nemesis Prime, while being the 3rd use of the Siege Prime Mold, was arguably an all new character (coming with the ER Trailer, and other accessories from previous incarnations), is defintely a step up, and was the hardest to get, and obviously the most desirable.

THIS 3rd Spoiler Box offers the 7th use of this Megatron (can anyone really say at this point they don't have one?). And the Purple Paleotrex. I'm sorry but a matrix harness and Allspark are pretty lame accessories. I'd rather have another Battle Master redeco.

I mean Smashdown (arguably one of the best/most popular BM's to date), and Doublecrosser haven't had a second use, that is money left on the table.

I mean I'm no marketing Expert but let me ask this...

If we could turn back time, and it was revealed that the Voyager Optimus Primal came with a deco that made it stand out more from the standard retail release, and it came with 2 Smashdown repaints. Does anyone dislike that more than what is being offered?

If the Spoiler Box Turned out to be a repainted Doubledealer(Perhaps in Doubleclouder colors?) marketed as "Possesed Doubledealer", (as in possesed by Deeseus - THAT would be the "spoiler" and it came with a Battlemaster Doublecrosser repaint.... Does anyone like that idea less than what we are currently getting?

A Spoiler Box that would contains a "premium painted" Doubledealer WITH his two cassettes minions would have been a much better box than this current offering.

That was my first thought actually, but at the $60 Price Point, they would have to cut the compound and Energon Cubes.
