That looks more like huffer then impactor, it's the head and weapon that are obviously supposed to be impactor but then they messed it up with the colours...

The orange on Gen. Impactor was probably to unify the color scheme for Emirate Xaaron Ruination, as the rest of the WFC Wreckers had orange on them somewhere:

FOC Impactor's deco was an inverse of Impactor's normal deco. Purple was made the secondary color instead of the primary, as Archer's team had a sort of aversion towards making predominately purple Autobots.

If they made the primary color of the team yellow instead of orange it would of not only been closer to Impactor's colors but it would of made the Emirate Xaaron homage a lot more apparent.
Not like it matters much since the FOC Combaticon toys were sadly pretty mediocre.

That is true and although they probably had their reasons it was always weird to me that they chose Ruination to be the Wrecker combiner even though he was not made of the RID 2001 characters, in my opinion I feel they should of made up a new Wrecker combiner name or just had the members be the Rid guys as straight repaints instead of the Wreckers.

Again true and to be honest I sort of like that Wrecker combiner (not the molds of course but as a concept) it was a new thing and I like new things in this franchise.
But every combiner would pale in comparison to a Nitro Zeus combiner because that totally would be rad.
Speaking of such I hope this line has some actual new characters in the line or at the very least some obscure ones that either have not had a mainline toy before (Like Elita and the other fems from POTP) or haven't had anything since G1.
Honestly I sort of want something like that purposed "G3" idea that was purposed.

This is true, in my mind I was thinking of a non Beast line though, like a series with characters turning into modern day vehicles which I guess is similar to the film series but I mean in a more standard style kinda like Alternators but with original characters.
This is more fleshed out in my mind then I can explain but hopefully you get the gist of it.

If it's continuity then wouldn't armada count? Or the first rid (not that it would ever matter to takara since they would still find a way to put it in the G1 timeline)
Also isn't G2 part of beast wars going by the Vok being the Swarm? Is just making things more complicated?
