If you people would get your information from a reliable source that is primarily dedicated to gathering information about the subject in question...Memory Alpha wrote:Winona Ryder has signed on to play Amanda Grayson in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.
She is playing a human. The few times that Amanda Grayson had screen time in TOS or the Movies, she had a very "Vulcan" demeanor about her with slight bouts of "Human" emotionalism. Ryder is perfect for that.
Based on this, we can assume that the plot of the film will take place between 2265 and 2266. Captain Kirk assumed command of the Enterprise from Pike in early 2265. The Enterprise embarked on its historic five year mission that was chronicled in TOS and TAS. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"). Captain Pike was horribly disfigured in an accident in 2266 (TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I).

But I'm more willing to overlook some small details, as long as there aren't huge mistakes that aren't explained at all. I can take the history changes if it's done well enough.

Now I want to see how the Enterprise looks...

Cant tell you that these are 100% legit but the source I got them from is correct most of the time.

Those were done by Gabe Koerner long before production on the new movie began - more about him here: http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Gabriel_Koerner. Plus here's the ship in motion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP6PEVWyGF0
I dunno if this is what's going to be used, though. Most of the online sources I keep reading that claim to have seen the new 1701 can't make up their minds whether it's recognizable or not. This one definitely passes for "updated 1701", IMO.

My big issue with Trek is that most of the better story lines were in the novels. The novels counted for squat in the continuity.
If there is one thing that you die hard Trekies can be thankful for it's that Rick Berman is not attached to this film.
I am looking forward to this film. I can't wait! And yes, I hope that that is the Enterprise model they use.

They blame him for driving Star Trek into a black hole.
I think he did fine.
It was Paramount in the driver's seat over the event horizon.

Most Trekies I know havent noticed how Nemesis was a rip off of The Wrath of Khan. They freak when I tell them and then slowly notice it them selfs.Thats why I havent mentioned it here...I didnt want to get into a 30 page debate over it.

Oh thank God, for the longest time I thought I was alone on that opinion
I dont see how you cant notice it, especially Data's death and B4 singing at the end
Well, at least I know I'm not crazy now

Whats wrong with Rick Berman in your opinion????He was chosen by Gene Roddenberry to helm the Star Trek franchise....He helped to presided and helped to created the BEST thing to happen to the world of Star Trek...Deep Space Nine and he also helped create both The Next Generation and Voyager [it wasnt that bad anyway].
He was also heavly involved in First contact and the other TNG films [even tho they werent that good]
Although he was executive produce of Enterprise he wasnt really that involved in the creation of its characters.
Wheeljack35 wrote:Berman wasn't Roddenberry for one and under Berman Star Trek became stale and boring
Wheeljack35 wrote:I wouldn't mind seeing Star Trek reinvented....It needs to be in order to survive
Of course there are Trekkies out there that hate the idea of change .I use the term Trekkies because to me these are the people who want what we had and it can't be like that anymore
I see myself as a Trekker nowadays...A Trekker is a Star Trek fan who moves on
Wheeljack35 wrote:Origionaly to me back when TNG came out I used Trekkies to describe fans of TOS and didn't want anything new
and Trekker ment to progress
But as the shows came out like Voyager and Enterprise I lost my taste for Star Trek
I used to live it breath it.TNG came out at a time that the Transformers were on hiatus(Between G1 and Beast Wars)
But if this movie brings Star Trek in a new light as in being reinvented i'm now all for it
Yeah I was pissed off at first about them neglecting Federation and Starfleet History but I have moved on.
