Thanks. I personally enjoy anime and find it of much higher quality than most American cartoons, so that combined with the fact that Transformers largely have been anime throughout their history, makes it kind of annoying when people complain about 'animeness'.

What I posted wasn't entirely accurate, however, while the majority of the shows were created, produced, voiced, etc etc, by Japanese studios, the actual animation work has been outsourced at times to places such as Korea, China, and even the US, I believe. Regardless of this though, the fact that it's created by Japanese studios makes it anime.

Hmmmmmmm.....
I'll say it looks ok, of course I dont know how it will be story wise. So far i have liked the toy designs, and thus I would have to say the desings overall are ok.
What I dont like though is, as others have mentioned, this whole business about the all-spark. Why does this have to be the center of their conflict? Inst it enough to just be engaged in a civil war? Fine, I guess it could be the motivation for the war in the first place. But cant they come up with something different other than just rehasing what was in the 07 movie?
The other thing I dont like is why does prime need a mouth? I understand he will have his mouth plate/cover back, but why does he need a mouth? Especially one as crappy as this? It wouldnt be so bad if it were not for those crappy looking lips. Looks like he got a cologen injection.
Also, why the need to turn Megatrons head into that of the giant scrap monster with glowing red eyes, like he was in the 07 movie? Cant he just look more like a "normal" transformer? Why does he have to look like some monster-bot? Ugh.

Some of you people complain too friggin much...
First point - This has been announced for months, the VA talent has been revealed since at least Botcon, how can anyone not know who is doing the voices? You call yourselves fans? Fans know who's doing who's voice.
Optimus Prime, Lugnut, Grimlock - David Kaye
Starscream - Tom Kenny
Megatron - Cory Burton
Arcee - Susan Blu
Jazz - Phil Lamar
And that's just to name a few.
Second point - It's not G1, it isn't BW, it isn't Armade, so get over it.
Third - Just because they mention the Allspark does not mean they are basing everything on the movie, or basing anything at all on the movie. So stop speculating on stuff when you don't know anything to begin with. It may be a whole new take or concept.
Fourth - These toys and this animation look pure sweet, IMO I don't understand how anyone cannot like either of them.

I think that while Teem Titans was a good show (not a great a
show mind you good) this animated style just doesn't work for
me. I would perfer Energon and Cybertron art style with Justice League/Justice League Unlimted type stories.

I'm liking the look of the show so far. Looks more serious than I thought it would.

ive had an interest in TF's since gen 1 (i was a teenager at that point), beast wars was a neat restyle of the whole line (even though i didnt really care for most of the toys), i pretty much ignored the machine wars and stuff as i hardly ever saw any in the stores, AEC toys seem to lack any identity of their own, BW and G1 have this in buckets, instantly recognisable toys, the AEC toys seemed to blend into each other (if you see what i mean) but for the first time since BW we seem to have a really firm restart to the whole thing, ignoring the toys or the cartoon and the fact that theres only a handful of characters (yet) these really have character, can you remember all the cybertron toys?? can you remember all the animation ones that have been shown??
its interesting that some hate the style, others love it, I think thats a good thing, shows its got something that people are reacting to, that cannot be said for AEC which to my mind had severly bland toys overall (i do like the energon linkers though).

If they could promise me no stock footage (tranformations or attacks) and actual damaged models i'ld be right behind you.Cyberstrike wrote:I think that while Teem Titans was a good show (not a great a

Since that's not plausible at this stage, i'm hoping this has an awesome underdog story.
This isn't any Optimus we are truely familiar with, bookofjunon was right to point that out. IMHO a young Optimus Prime wouldn't make since with an old voice, as Sentiel Prime will be overal incharge from cybertron anyway. This leads me to think that if there is a matrix, Optimus doesn't have it.
The voice talent, is good. The direction the voices are taken is up to the creators, and at this point i don't think that would be my deal breaker. I understand I'm twice the age of their target audience, but i think i can give this show a try. Just like microclone

oh, as for the Sentinel Prime thing.

Hate it. Hate it and wish it would die.
Now that's out of the way, I can be more objective.
Overall, this does look like it is treating the property itself well, and it's nothing if not contemporary. It wouldn't make financial sense either for the all-spark not to be mentioned, if only to draw in folks who think the 2007 movie is the only transformers there really is (that's how a lot of comic book fans get drawn in anyway).
Maybe I'm an old codger, but there's just something about the animation that makes me so un-interested. It's just not something I'm used to, and I think it really is just a matter of marketing (read between the lines: pandering) to a particular core audience. I think this is just really for the average cartoon crowd, including stoner college kids.
What I really want is an animated series in the style of some of the IDW comics, not necessarily G1 either, though I guess I'm a "purist." Some of the Spotlight issues, though, my god, great writing, serious character development, and kick ass art.. get to it!

Megatron sounds like Shadowborg from Beetleborgs. Corey Burton does a good Bob Papenbrook in that case. I forget the name of the large scale Autobot, but they made him look reeeeaaaalllly fat in one instance. Still, I like this so far, although Bumblebee looks like a kid compared to the other Autobots...

Latest Acquisition(s):
BW Tigatron
BW II Flash Lio Convoy
BW Metals Rampage
BW Neo Big Convoy
BW Neo Magmatron

Megatron looks and sounds great, so do the rest of the Decepticons.
Optimus looks ridiculous with those lips. Why do they have to keep doing that to him? He looks like robo-hooker...

I don't want my memories and thoughts of Transformers to be tarnished by this P.O.S.
How will this tarnish your memories?
It's not like hasbro and CN are going to get into some time machine and destroy the past.
And for those ripping on Armada's animation.
Remember that the US footage was rushed, because Cartoon Network was impatient and wanted it on air as soon as possible.
tarnish as in...the new stuff sucks so bad, it overshadows the good ole days. I will never forget my childhood, but I like seeing the same spirit kept alive...kinda like when Greedo shot first, that kind of tarnishing.
