Noob question about team XP

Postby Narc » Sun Dec 21, 2008 10:54 pm

Just a question; how come some teams have an almost even distribution of XP among their members? I've seen st least 2 whole six-member team having XPs within 2 digits of each other... and their all ranked in the lower 100s next to each other. Is there an experience share setting here somewhere that I don't know of?

Nope, just discipline. They resist the urge to have some bots on their team shoot ahead with good early performances.

No, some people are just really anal about keeping everyone about equal. If someone gets a head, they wont play that bot until everyone catches up.

yep, I'm not being anal about it, I'm just selecting the six lowest bots in my team all the time.

This does not require dedication, insight or anything else, you just pick the last 6 bots.

yeah. being anal would be pointing out that at higher end of the game the cheaper alts screw that up so your medic despite have less xp, being a level above means he gets played less, as it sorts by level first, then xp. :P

we know, when then the cheaper alts get played less, untill everyone is at the same level again and that will sort it out eventually.
The situation lasts for about a week since the earnings (at my pace) are about 1 upgrade per week.

I roll the ones who are available, since it can be pretty random, but occasionally one gets hot and I'll run a hot streak into the ground. And even same builds wont net the same XP.

And yes, it does require being anal, because it means that sometimes you have to sit a bot who's able to go but is to far ahead because their last mission netted them more XP then the rest.

That's.. NOT how it works.. if you actually think I'm pausing my bots not to let them go ahead you're wrong. if there's a spot open and he's the only bot available, he goes.

Sorry AZ, I gotta go with neliz this time.

My team are all really even. All I do is pick the bottom six from the ones that are available.

Aye, same.

I've done that, and it didn't work for me. The bottom ones end up there because they're, for some reason, not doing as well. Scoring less and getting locked more. I've even sent everyone to the same number of missions and not had it work.

Perhaps it's the game trying to tell you saomthing about those particular builds then...

Me, I just chose who ever is bottom of the avialable list right now. If a charecter I think should be doing better isnt, I reset his ass. Deadweight's probably gonna need a reset, cuase he's currently hiding amongst the rammers, which he shouldnt be doing.

The builds are all pretty simular. High speed, then tanking avoiders, and now that I'm working on strafe, high speed, with courage being secondary. I think part of the problem is I play alot when the other mission going preds aren't around or are in the arena, so I end up either on my own or with really lackluster backup.

Strafe needs backup. Run those with caution and very strategically unless its a SPD/AVOID that's adding strafe.

I just reset 3 characters to match / mimic / operate similarly to others because the were strafers or ineffective rammers. Simply put, each Pred builds needs to be able to earn base XP++ in a 6v3 missin. Strafers cannot do that (by my experience) unless they also have defensive abilities and re-dunk-u-lous-ly high FP with 6+ strafe.

edit:
It apparently doesn't take THAT much backup though.

Strafe functions better in outnumbered situations. It fires out a set number of shots, which is one initial base shot (which always hits an opponent) plus two 'tiddlers' per point of strafe. These are randomly assigned to any other transformer in the mission, friend or foe. Any hitting your allies are discounted, so the greater the ratio of enemy to ally is, the greater the overall power of each strafe salvo. The trick's to stay alive long enough to do enough of them. Also, the nature of strafe and its feeder creates a position where more strafe is always better than more firepower, unless several points of firepower are cheaper than the next strafe upgrade. Also, strength, as of the last time I checked, increased strafe damage to an extent, in addition to providing armour for a modicum of protection.

In ideal situations, strafe functions better with less back up, more oposition.

HOWEVER, right now, no one really has the xp available to create a build that carrys that out. Right now, strafers are still a bit of a handicap, and really need all the backup they can get, lest they are arse raped by a bunch of randy Maximals.
