noooobie question & weapon musings

Postby Entropic_Kitten » Fri Feb 02, 2007 3:58 pm

ZOMG ITS A NOOB, GET IT.

>.>

Okay, I'm kidding.

I have a question, though.

Is there something that I am missing, in regards to weapon damage?

For example:
Sword: 600 Energon, Light To Moderate, Short Recharge.
Disruptor Rifle: 400 Energon, Light To Heavy, Short Recharge.

Or even better.

Underwater and Surface To Air Cannons: 1 Firepower, 2 Skill, Moderate Damage, Short Recharge. 1000 Energon.

Plasma Blaster: 1 Firepwoer, 1 Skill. Moderate Damage, short recharge.. 8,800 Energon.

I have to be missing something. :) Are weapon names just fluff, or is there something that makes the Plasma Blaster a dramatically better weapon than the underwater and surface to air cannons?

Why is the sword more expensive than the rifle, yet by there does less damage?

Sorry to be n00b, just trying to figure some stuff out

The weapons are imbalanced as hell. :P A weapon is considered good when you take into consideration the damage it deals, time it takes to recharge, the cost of it's xp setup reqs., and finally how much it costs in Energon. I'm sure Tammuz will be by later with the science. :P Oh and welcome to the board.

Where's Tammuz?

Weapons do need a rebalace, but there have been other ingame issues that have pervented it so far.

Welcome to the board as well.

It is always good to have some new to the boards even if things been a little rough lately on here. Here is a thread that was created for people like you and others who are new to the game to get some advice and not feel so lonely in this big crazy place. I'll let some of the more veteran players\members give you the "standard" warning if they feel up to it.

ignore the "where's tammuz?" bits, there's many a folks who know the weapons better than me, I just live off Bun-Bun's troupes research.....

anywhoo pretty much everything is answered in the firest reply, i will add that the UWSTACs are terrible, really bad, awful, and to be avoided like the plague.

of weapons i recommend(I.e. are brokenly UBER good) are the Gatling gun
Battle Blades
Energon Crossbow
Dol Laser Rifle
Double Barrel Plasma Shell Shotgun
X-Ray Laser(I have 3 availabe for sale)

of course this ignoring the wonderful world of Brawling, 3 strength unarmed will do approximately heavy damage, and 4 strength will do very heavy damage, so untl you can get your hands on a DBPSS or better weapon go unarmed, heavy on the strength.

I have some X-ray lasers if someone want's to buy them for until you can get up to 3 strength..

O.O

I actually did the right thing. >.>

Do a search on Revenge of the Primitives, Decepticon Side. :D

All of my guys are either unarmed brawlers or strafers... XD

I figured it'd be cheaper that way. Mostly brawlers though, I use strafers in missions since they seem to do way better that way due to the multi target hitting.

Thank you very much, guys. :D

the thing with strafers is to beef up strafe until FP gets to be cheaper than strafe, then FP until it's Strafes cheaper, repeat until you run out of xp.

and remember if your unarmed attacks do more damage than your tactics, it's not worth having tactics.

if it's a choice between 25% repair or a 50% battle blade hit, you want to be taking the battle blade option.

Oh boy. I can't believe that no one has mentioned the electric cannon. Maybe it's a small known secret. But my monster tears the Autobots a new one I would say 75 percent of the time, with a seemingly short recharge. Powerful weapon at lvl 0, and still alot available. You just have to sacrifice all that speed which is so useful. Blac-a-blac-a!

becuase it's just a slower Dol laser rifle that requires an extra point in FP and has an enormous price tag

electric cannon and dol are almost equal, but EC is a bit slower, if u wanna wield an electric cannon at level 0 then u r a suicide :P

for once tifereth's almost right, getting into level 1 is going to hurt, you'll really need to concentrate on things like speed and courage, having only 2 of one, or 1 of each entering level 1 will really make life hard as >4 speed avoiders whizz around your blasts, and high strength brawlers shrug off your hits and deal some very nasty hits of there own.

Well, dols are unobtainable, as are battle blades, anyone wanna sell some? Prob not. The electric cannon has shortened a battle so many times and earns me high xp at lvl 0. If you can level your opponents faster your side WILL win. Suicide maybe. If I'm outnumbered I want the extra fp. And I don't think the recharge is any longer than say the laser cannon at 1 fp.

oh it's certainly faster than the Laser cannon, but that's got very little do with things?(why on earth would you want one of them? Firestone slings the fastest and xp cheapest of that damage range). as far as the electric cannon goes you might as well shell out the extra 4000xp and €3000 and get the Energon Crossbow.

extra FP isn't going to innately help you if your outnumbered.

perhaps if you could provide a nice set of logs for us to chew over you could persuade me otherwise, but looking over your recent missions i don't see a single non lopsided fight to accurately judge performance

Here is my most recent example, it just ended.

As for the energon crossbow, I would have to lose my point of courage. Now the wouldn't fit his personality very well.

you've got twice the xp of your nearest ally, and the numerical advantage, of the 5 bots in there only 1 has more than half your xp.

not exactly unlopsided...

Not my fault. Give me some real comp. I'm just saying with the electric cannon on a lvl o you can do some damage. He is great for heavy artillery. When he hits 45,000 xp I'll lvl him up and see if he is still the xp generator. There are very few things you can do at lvl 0 to protect yourself from it outside of having high endurance, and nobody can really afford that if you want to gain any real xp. You can only have 4 stats in lvl 0 and it's hard to find a winning combo. And yeah, I did get TWICE the xp as my nearest partner. I would say the electric cannon works.

i meant you have more the twice the xp total; you have more that 40k your nearest ally's only got 27K. it very easy to score more xp when you have more xp to play with. going off glyph's chart of min/max/averagge, level 0 bots average out at about 4k, and the average level 1 has about 53K

and tif, i said you where almost right, that means your still WRONG! :P

O.k., here's a question since I've only been playing for about 2 months. Does the amount of xp you play with affect your gameplay or is it only affected by stats. If it's only affected by stats then my xp should play little into this conversation, outside of having my stats maxed out for the level.
