The real flood was back in 2007. RotF and DotM didn't have as many exclusives, and they all used current (at the time) molds to boot.
Anyways, the part I dont get about some of these are the younger audience figures that arent fully coloured (quick change and titan). If you have the non exclusive full coloured ones on the shelf, what kind of kid would want a grayed out Grimlock or Optimus?!
I'm guessing Optimus will turn silver at some point in the movie (for great justice!) and Grimlock, well... He's already silver, and FoC Grimlock is in G1-accurate colors.

I know, I was just referring to the Titan and quick change figures. The ones where it looks like the figure is missing color and only a swirl of blue or brown is found on some details. I would understand if there is heavy chrome application, but some of these really look like a mold off the production line that was not coloured. You know what I mean right?

To me, that much unbroken gray just makes it look like Optimus is dead again.william-james88 wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:

I don't mind Target getting lackluster exclusives for once, as much as Walmart finally getting most of the ones I actually want for this movie. The first con I ever attended was TransCon '97 (The Men In Black just going ahead even after Hasbro rightly took BotCon away from them), so to me the blue Terrorsaur is priority one for being a passable representation of what I imagined their Swoop might've looked like. Yes, I know the color scheme on his concept art art turned out to be totally different, but the blue evokes his show model.

First we have a silver redeco of the Optimus Prime Smash and Change figure. Second, and probably the most interesting of the lot, is a two-pack featuring chromed out version of Voyager Fall of Cybertron Grimlock and Deluxe Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime with G1 Predacon Rampage's sword in silver. Next is an all silver version of Titan Optimus Prime. Finally a Construct-Bots set with Grimlock and silver Optimus Prime.

Do like the looks of that Grimlock, I'm surprise they went with G1 colors and not try to paint him like AoE Grimlock. I'm sure they'll get to that eventually, though. Also surprised we still haven't seen Energon Swoop repainted yet.
The rest is garbage, Walmart got the better exclusives this time around over Target and TRU.

That smash and change Prime is more appealing than the regular release though.
Between this and Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart wins.

Could care less about the other stuff, though the seemingly canceled Generation 2-themed deco on Construct-Bots Grimlock is neat.

Being TARGET exclusive is great news because, unlike TrU, Target bother to put French on their fawking packagings so their exclusives DO come out in Quebec.
Of course, TrU refuse to take note.

The deluxe DOTM OPtimus mold is really gread! Yes, it does have a backpack, but it's nothing compared to the aweful AoE 1st edition.

Why is it terrible? I dont own it yet and thought of getting this as my first version of the mold. So some arguments for and against it would be welcome as I make up my mind.

It's not the best thing ever, but it's hardly terrible. The altmode leaves something to be desired, and there's a hinge that's a bit loose (but it also doesn't move much) in the shoulders of the robot mode, but he holds a pose just fine.

And now they're just repainting figures from 2, 3 years ago - with a little chrome thrown in for good measure?
It's more than just sad, it's an insult to fans and collectors alike. Will this fool people into buying these figures - again? I guess we'll find out.
But I predict that these figures will mostly flop, so that Hasbro will once again report 'poor sales', and use that as an excuse to make future figures even cheaper and crappier.
Hasbro, in my book we call that a 'self-fulfilling prophecy'. Major pass on all of these. If I wind up getting any of them (which I doubt) it will be on clearance about a year later in Ross or TJ Maxx.

Only on sale, however.
It suffer from the "thin plastic syndrome2 of early FOC figures. It feel light and cheap. It have a giant hole in the dino chest. Tail is fat. It's not that fun to transform. It's "meh" looking in dino mode. However, it'a glorious in robot mode.
Purists will hate me for this, but I find the AoE voyager Grimlock to be a WAYYYYYYY superior toy.
