I know, right? I just kind of wanted to give him a hug after that. It sounded like a man in denial about to cry.

Pretty sure this is the wrong forum for that.
And didn't we see that video already? I remember watching that in a news post several months ago.

Guys, sounds like you both need to see a doctor with your conditions?![]()
If, and these days its a big IF, these guys ever get a release over in the UK, I will pick them up as I don't have a Menasor in my display, but I will probably feel a little bit sad taking down my RotF/Fansproject Superion.![]()
I would expect to see many a set going up on Ebay once these guys are released, and the Universe Voyager Silverbolt too?
Talking of Universe Voyager Silverbolt, I like the mould and would really like to keep a version in my collection.
Can anyone recommend an alternate version I could look for?
I don't need a doctor. I need a diaper.

Hey, the first wave is up for preorder at Kapow Toys. That's a UK shop right?
So, you're going to get them first!
Darkwind is an awesome version of the Silverbolt mold, If you can handle those cheeky G2 colors.

As someone who has not picked up any 3rd Party combiners, mainly because of cash restrictions, this Combiner Wars line appeals to me. I have to say that I really like the look of Superion, but Menasor is doing nothing for me. Individually the figures look great, but the combined mode looks weird. The chest just looks so odd with a car sitting right in the middle of it, and I'm not too keen on the head sculpt either (I can live with it though).
It looks like you open up Motormaster's cab to insert Blackjack, so I wonder if there's some sort of work-around where you can close the cab and have his chest more compact. It just looks too wide compared to his hips and legs for me.
Really looking forward to how Devastor would look, but I reckon they'd end up doing a retool of Menasor since it's a six figure piece.

To you proud 3rd party combiner owners.
Please don't poop on our parade TOO hard.
I'm glad for you that you can afford those works of art. There is a reason they cost so much.
They have amazing aesthetic and engineering design.
But, I ask all this...
When has a product or prototype photo ever done these toys any justice?
I can't tell you how many times I've seen a picture of a Transformer and gone, meh. Then, have the toy in hand and am relieved, if not blown away. Rarely do we get really cool dynamic shots of these guys until one of us does the dirty work.
I see the photos from events like Toy Fair, or ComicCon, and always remind myself this.
Marketing Directors, Sales Execs, and Photographers have a job to do, and it's not playing with toys. I would expect the designers to present them in a little more dynamic sweetness because they know how these things work. Maybe these two were just trying to get through the shooting of the video.
I personally have been waiting a long time for HasTak to get combiners right. I have a good feeling these will be close if not dead on.

there is a bit of a superiority complex showing when y'all are comparing CW to 3P. we get it, you love the 3P combiners and nothing will ever be better. i love mine, but i also loved the energon combiners at the time. and i can see a lot of good in CW. and apparently im not the only one

If that's the case, I wonder if it (Devy) has any compatibility with the Scramble City style Menasor, Superion, and Prime/Ultra Magnus team members. (hoping so. Would love to be able to swap in the core area or limbs.)

Re: Official Transformers Generations Thrilling 30 Discussion Thread
depends on how big they are. There's been a lot of discrepancy within size classes these days.
And thinking how FOC Bruticus is... and how a 3P is making a bigger Onslaught to fill him out... Hasbro might be able to work something out?
I'll remain optimistic. The way they are planning extra bots to swap in like Optimus Prime... plus extra limbs... I'd hope they wouldn't leave ole Devastator out in the rain without being able to interact with the rest of the line.

You know, I've gone from "eh" to "WANT" on that Superion just from that video. Silverbolt actually looks not too bad (the kibble kinda looks like a Macross FAST pack) and that combined mode is beautiful.
Menasor I still think I'll end up going with Intimidator, but the Hasbro version certainly looks good- I'd buy it for my kids (if I had kids...).

In your opinion, you mean?Autobot032 wrote:And they do look like crap, it's true.

So basically, you want Hasbro to make things like 3rd Parties? Sorry, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I expect FP M3 to look better than CW Menasor because he costs roughly $250 more. If people can't get behind the incremental change that pushes Hasbro to more appealing collector figures, then well... that's your choice. But don't tell me you want G1 or the "correct" team - that's all in the eye of the beholder.Autobot032 wrote:I have Intimidator and he's so many leagues ahead of Menasor, it's not funny. Hasbro could've at least tried and make it look G1, and at the very least, given us the correct assortment of figures to make the combined forms. A helicopter, with a different name in place of Slingshot? An SUV instead of Wildrider? Come on, it's like they're practically BEGGING us to spend our money elsewhere.
If you think these are great for kids, then you should be able to accept the compromises Hasbro has to make to appeal to two groups. From my POV, Hasbro isn't making these for collectors. They're making them for kids knowing that they'll also appeal to collectors.Autobot032 wrote:These are great for kids, no doubt and that's awesome, I want kids to get into Combiners because they're so neat, but these are also aimed at collectors and they know it and to pull this tells me they want to give us some credit/respect, but at the last minute say "Yeah, right. LOLOLOLOLOL"
And that bugs me. I'll buy their Superion, plus the 3rd party Slingshot because this is a far more affordable alternative to Uranus, but if I didn't have Intimidator, I'd probably sell off a big chunk of my collection to get him, much like I did to get UT's War Lord. (which I love with the fire of a 1,000 suns)
If you truly think this will happen then why complain about the "correct" limb assortment at all?Autobot032 wrote:I know Hasbro's smarter than this, they CHOOSE to do this, for whatever reason... I'm still thinking they'll release all of the correct limbs and figures to make the combiners accurate, at some point, because they KNOW we'll buy them to make our collections sit right with us and we'll go that extra mile to make it happen. My guess is all of these extraneous figures that don't fit with the teams will become their own separate combiner with an odd name and you'll have to collect the entire line to make it happen. Watch, I'll bet it will happen.
Feels like you're putting people on the spot right here... But then again, I guess I am, too. It's a vicious cycle!Autobot032 wrote:I can honestly say the designers are anything BUT gods, but you're entitled to your opinion, much like Rated X is. You can disagree with him, just as I have you, but you needn't be telling him how to do things. His scale works well with him, your's with you, no need to be telling anyone to "adjust your scale bro" because that'll just cause a back and forth between the two of you and derail the thread and we're not going to have that happen, so from this point on, no more direct quotes to people in which they're called out. Ask them questions, be a part of the conversation, but don't put people on the spot, it's just asking for trouble.

MT Giant is far from accurate, being as stylized as it is. But to each their own. Honestly, regardless of whether a Hasbro Devastator looks as good as CW Superion or a bit off like CW Menasor, I'd just be happy to have a Hasbro Devastator that uses this updated combiner engineering.Autobot032 wrote:I'd like to see what Hasbro can do with their Devastator, I'd hope it would be accurate, but my MT Giant is pretty hard to beat. Even though I don't like TFC's Hercules, I have to say he's put together much better than Hasbro's Menasor and I hope Hasbro's Devastator doesn't pull the same level of crap as their Menasor has. Ugh.

Yeah, we know your $600 toy is better than this sub-$100(?) toy. You don't have to point that out.
I was just about to comment that.

Come see my latest creation, the COMPLETE combiner team, Scorponok and his Pretenders, forming SHELLSHOCK

Re: Official Transformers Generations Thrilling 30 Discussion Thread
I have to say, I understand that 3P bots have different market and budget.... but in spite of no wrist swivels or ankle tilts, I expect Hasbro to still FRIGGIN' NAIL those head sculpts. NAIL THEM.
It appears they have for 90% of these — especially the individual robots — but Menasor is way off base with his weird little bull horns. I'll pay for a 3P head for him in a heartbeat. #Renderform #DrWu
End of rant.
