well to me it is very much a part of this issue with tactic cost, if ya can have Bite instead of ram for say the predator class and such, that would be a big change for the game, and if they are going to change one, then changing the other should be done at the same time to limit the work load, planning , and grouping of all the alts. also if they got one, more may be in the planing,only time will tell,i do not know, i am just wishing. i for one can care less if it is a copycat tactic, having my t-rex bite, instead of ram, would be fracking sweet after all these years.
and yes i know about your tournies details, i like to read, and would have joined but i cannot say how things will go for me 2 weeks ahead, i am not in good health,ya do not get payed 100% service connected disability by the Veterans Affairs and not have some major medical issues.and mainly i was wishing /waiting till we would have one with that old X-mas tournie mission code, so i could be lazy ,have more lvl bracketed missions ,and just kill stuff in my bracket. i was #2 in the lvl 0-2 bracket in that one. did not get a damn thing, lol.

so i got to ask the big question for the MODs
will there/or could there be new tactics -even if they are renames- added to the game in the future? time /code and work permitting of course?

They're not changing anything though. All Mkall is doing is using something set up and abandoned by OS. Unfortunetly, Mkall (as he has freely admitted) is not a proper Programmer like OS was, and dose not know what needs changing even to do something basic like cloning a tactic. It only takes one bit of wrongly changed code, or one bit of code that hasn't been changed that should be to start causing all sorts of unwanted problems to the game. The game is reasonably stable at the moment, and it strikes me as completely foolish to insist that Mkall do something he is not 100% certain about and risk breaking it.

As for the tournie, had that hardware failure just before it started not happened, we would have used the xmas tournie code, but unfortunetly, Mkall lost his access to the back end of the game, and Ryan was no where to be seen to re-grant the access (and to be honest I would not be happy with starting the tournie using one system, then switching to another mid event).

Be thankful he actually priorities getting HMW up and running before other parts of the site for once.

*Shrug* once Mkall gets access we'll see what we can do. We have a few ideas knocking around, mostly based on trying to narrow down the number of alt classes and remove all the single-tactic alts.

New/duplicate/renamed tactics are a job for later. The Bite ones may appear a bit sooner, but as Red said, they are a hangover from the OS days. We certainly have enough alts that would qualify for it though...

So does that mean you'll put this alt Image into a more useful class than noble land animal?

I can't speak for everyone, but I like some of the single tactic alts, I just wish they weren't quite so useless, and I'd like for them to get moved into new catagories instead of removed.

I was hopin the same thing as AZ. I like alot of the 1 tactic alts looks, but they suck to pick. making them useful would be awesome. like the vampire bats. let them be predators.

If I get my way, nothing will be classed by its vehicle/species type anymore. 60 alt classes per faction? There is such a thing as too much choice, I want it below 20 if possible.

Yeah, my bad, I meant remove the single-tactic classes not alts. All the single-tactic alts will stay in the game - after all, both the Optimus Prime and Megatron alts are currently single tactic, the plan is that they wont be single-tactic anymore.

After all, how does it make sense that the 2 most powerful characters in G1 cant even get to L11??

Gen 1 wasn't epic enough to go to 11, their knobs only went to 10.

That was kinda what I figured about the alts, but better to get clarification than to assume.

I only skimmed the thread so I appologise if I'm repeating something but why not start with the tactics costing the same amount so you can choose your own primary tactic, the other will increase in cost by X as the skill points do to become your secondary tactic?

Off topic but what's this **** with google ads in the middle of threads?

In an ideal world, I think that would certainly be well worth consideration. Unfortunately, it requires more changes than is easily achievable right now. Changes to the database can be made with relative ease (ie changes in any numerical values and the creation of new items like alts and weapons), but anything that requires changes to the mechanics of the game is pretty much not possible. I don't know what the plan (if any) is for the HMW programmer, at the moment Mogwai Prime is nowhere to be seen (I don't know the reason), and Mkall's doing the best he can, but he's not really a programmer. It's also worth mentioning that the general rule of thumb for the past Programmers (Mogwai and OS) is that rather than make small alterations like this to the current game, they would devote their time to building the new one.
