Scaleface wrote:Right now Movie G1 Jazz redeco from Target is my Classic Jazz. I wonder if Hasbro can still re deco the Cybertron Crosswise mold into G1 Jazz for the Universe line? It's not the exact same color or head as the Botcon toy, so it wouldn't be infringing on their "exclusive".

I hope for the Classics Jazz figure is a new figure that isn't a Cybertron mold. I like the Crosswise mold, but Jazz looks awful with it the Botcon molded head (too big in my opinion) makes his legs look all stubby. Jazz need a little more respect than that, so lets all hope for a new molded figure.

Also I'm glad I passed on going to the con this year. I get to save some cash for the Universe line and not have to stare at the ugliest set (besides Goldbug) I've ever seen from the con. This figure doesn't help either, hopefully next years will be better (maybe we can finally get a Classics Sunstorm).

they sure are trying to get there money's worth out of this mold lately...shame i think it looks like crap.

i'm actually glad this set sold out before i made up my mind on it, saves me from making a mistake.

I'll probably hunt down screamer, prime, and grimlock down the road...but the rest does nothing for me. I certainly won't be chasing this figure.

I blame everyone that complained last year about how good last years set was and how they couoldn't get one for how crappy this years set is.

Probably, you cant have any classics related discussion without someone whining about teh eval Hazblo making Thundercracker a Botcon exclusive.

About Thundercracker, I think he shouldn’t have been a Botcon exclusive and instead a Collectors club exclusive, then people could get him whenever they get enough money and join the club. I bet if they had done that you wouldn’t have heard anybody crying when they showcased the new classics though the club magazine.

Not sure why some are surprised that the "freebie" is a repaint of another exclusive. Many times this has been the case. I seriously told a friend I wouldn't be shocked if the "freebie/attendee" toy was a repainted Razorclaw(cause that is a s*&t figure).

Looks like I'll blow 1-2hrs in line to buy a $10 ticket cause options 1 & 2 are insulting. Option 1 - yes I'd love to pay good money to take the garbage off your hand. Option 2 - Great I get a badge(??wtf), a cheap tin/aluminum pin and a comic, why yes I'd love to shell out around $200 for those great offers.

They'd make more money if I could just pre-reg a resonable $50 for the weekend. Yeah, more than $20 for two days but its a time saver. Their business model sucks donkey ****.

You know I thought mismanagement was going to be a thing of the past with Glen Halit gone. I mean really :o) could do this good.

Personally if I hadn't gotten (and wanted) the Primus package I wouldn'ty have even made the trip. Why spend all that money on gas/flight and hotel and not come away with something unique from it?

If I wanted rare Transformers I'd just find a good ebay seller.

I have a question. Do you get Ricochet if you pay the $10 walk in price? 'Cause he may suck, but a free Transformer is a free Transformer.

No, only Primus Package holders get Ricochet.

funny thing is, if Ricochet was a free figure to everyone at the con.. people would still bitch about how they didn't get a "better" free figure

I'm personally looking forward to seeing what role Ricochet plays in the comic.

Who knows? Maybe they'll amp up the bonus figure in the future so more of the figure sets go to Primus holders and not Iacons.

While I won't come out and say I hate this year's set (since I honestly don't "hate" any Transformers...), I will say that this figure finally seals the deal for me......to not buy a set. I may try to snag one or two off e-bay, but this year's set is $280 well kept for something else.

So much negativity about this years set. I like this years set, and it's not just because some of the figures look like they belong to MIC members.

They'reusing some of may personally favourite molds. Voyager Cybertron Starscream was a great mold. Too bad they only released a Thrust repaint of it here. Crosswise was under-rated. I have the original and Smokescreen repaint, and I'll be getting the BotCon remolds. And if ever get the chance, I'll buy the WalMart exclusive repaint. That's 5 of the same mold! He's practacly got his own seeker army. I like the Grimlock mold too. I am disappointed that his weapon can't be used as a sword, like Cybertron Snarls. And there is the problem with his shoulders. But he still looks badass. And ofcourse Prime is just the definition of a grade A figure. The only problem with him is he's got no trailer. Goldbug is a good figure with a fantastic color scheme. Remember how "amazing" Excellion(pre-Classics Hot Rod) was? He is now obsolite.

This set won't be as mind-blowing as last years. And the they may not be Classics. It's a 1 shot "what if". But it's still a good set and I'll enjoy it.

I agree. This set is an especial let down after last years.

Now really, they could have made this set so much more appealing by doing Classics versions of some incresingly rare ehobby items.

How abput ths set? A clear and black Classics hot rod, clear and black Starscream and a Sunstorm all from the Classics mold.

Cheap repaints that we would all have jumped at. Oh well. I wondr what I should pend my 280 I had marked for Botocn on now. :-?

BTW, anyone planning on nabbing a bagged 05 set and wanna sell some figs. If so, gimme a holler.

Yeah, I'm in Columbus--only a couple of hours away from Botcon... I may try to come down during the day to cruise the dealer room, but unfortunately my work situation isn't being very hospitable to this type of thing... Figures, too, since this is the closest I've ever been to one...

Well, I am a bit miffed at the free attendee figure too, the paint job is not true to form, but what can you do? It's free(well, to me anyways). Thank god I got my registration in in early February and was able to reserve a set before they sold out(for $365 for me and the wife, even with club member discount, I'd better...). I live all of but 45 mins away from Cincy, so it was a must go.... I like the Goldbug, and the Jazz is pretty good(massacre racing? lol), and you can't beat the Starscream, but the Grimlock and OP? meh. I really really really hope(along with the rest of us) that more decepticons are forthcoming.

Actually since we now have Jolt, he'll be the following.

Ricochet is a repaint of a remolded repaint of a repaint of another repaint of an original figure.

So we have:

Original
Repaint
Repaint
Remolded Repaint
Repaint of Remolded Repaint

That is doubly sad.

Come on guys, we're not even being fair (and I hate the 'F' word) at this point.

BotCon is always repaints and/or slight remolds.

2005 used Towline's mold twice, Arcee's mold three times, the bug mold three times

2006 used Clocker's mold twice and Shadowhawk's mold twice.

2007 used the seeker mold three times in the box set alone...

BotCon = repaints. You can't kick the dog for being a dog.

The reason why I like Botcon figures is that they are unique. Suere, they are repaints or at best remolds but for one they aren't on the mass markets and secondly they are able to make figures of characters we would never see otherwise.

If you don't like that concept, then don't pay for them. It's as simple as that. Stop flooding the boards with giant piles of mope. As far as I know there aren't any 3rd grade girls here but sometimes I wonder.
