Early renders, so this is in no way final. There will probably be more joints and detechable parts in the final product.

No, the little guy is sorta brickish. Just 5mm port arms and legs. The big figure has articulation.

If that's the case (as I feared from all the pics we've seen thus far) then I can't see these being worth the 3P price range. Give the robots articulation and then we'll talk, but I don't intend to buy articulated monsters without decently articulated transformers. I'm sorry, but that makes no sense, even for Pretenders.

Is this confirmed to be how they're doing it, or are you just going by the renders? They have WIP-NOT FINAL plastered all over them so changes aren't out of the question.

It is confirmed that this is the design right now. If they were to change it from fan feedback, that can happen, but so far it has not.

I dunno, there are enough 3Ps doing that, it is neat to see something fresh, even if I'm not planning to buy into it (much).
I guess Im looking at it from a different perspective. All these guys claim to fame was making "official" Transformers related merchandise. So I expect actual Transformers. Seemssad that the "official" guys cant top third parties even when they become a third party themselves. Just my opinion.

I'm a little disappointed to here that especially when today's headmasters are articulated as much as possible with there size .
To me they should have went all in with articulation on the robot i don't want a g1 style figure sitting on my classics shelf .
It's not a deal breaker just disappointing since i expected it to be an update from the 80's and it just would have been awesome to action pose the two side by side .

All in due time X. All in due time. I remember there was this group using DonFig as a designer or something...........all's quiet in that front.

What I don't get is why they just don't go out and create their own NEW characters, their own NEW universe.
Given the examples they've put out and with all the experience they have, I don't doubt they could create something amazing instead of just getting inspiration from something already out there.

Think this is the worst way anyone can do pretender updates toys. Can't imagine anyone doing worse.
My ideal Regular Pretenders would be Seven+ inch Pretender shells That were fully Articulated. With inner robots that had fully articulated robot modes, That were commander toy scale. The inner robot could have fit into a cavity in the pretender shell.
Think it might have been wiser to do the Three Hasbro Mega Pretenders toys. Maybe at the Voyager-Ultra scale. Having pretender shells that can Transform into vehicle modes with a inner Legends scale robot that they can combine with in vehicle mode. Is probably what some fans would have wanted.
MMC did that Pretender Beast inner robot Felisaber toy for Feral Rex. Guessing some fans would like to see more Voyager Seven inch scale inner beast-bots made for Carnivac, Snarler and Chainclaw.
Even doing Voyager Seven inch scale toys of the Pretender beast shells that could transform back and forth into robot modes in 1996 Beast Wars style sculpting. With Legends scaled poseable inner Mechanical looking animal-bots that fit inside the shell cavity, Would have been great to see.
Liked the HasTak fusion Pretender updates toys for CHUG. Where Hasbro combined the Pretender shell robot mode and inner robot vehicle mode to create hybrid evolved toys for CHUG Bludgeon and Thunderwing.

So someone finally makes Pretenders of all things awesome...and people complain.
Seriously. No other 3P company has tried making proper Pretenders before. This is not only bold new territory that should push the 3P market into doing more than yet another Optimus Prime headsculpt or the latest argument spawning combiner war, but their work looks awesome, full stop. I never cared much for Pretenders but these designs look awesome.
If anything I'd rather they made completely original designs and fiction rather than just making more of what everyone else is doing. Heck, with Simon Furman on board they could make something truly awesome.
These guys have my full support. I think I should contribute to the Kickstarter.

Play With This Too Bitemark with D-Kay (Kickstarter exclusive, Skull-FCKR body?)
Today Play With This Too announced an original figure intended to be a crowd funding exclusive. Bitemark with D-Kay.
This figure is a black and red recolor of the Desolataur figure with the head from their Bloodbath figure. He will also come with a red and black Tech Drone named D-Kay ("decay"), who turns into a space ship or weapons for Bitemark.
There is also a Kickstarter exclusive recolor of Head Shots Vol. 1 that has a head named Skull-FCKR which is colored to go with this body.

While this is a cool recolor, I'm already on the fence with this line, so I'm probably not interested in anything that isn't directly related to an existing pretender.

This body and the Skull-FCRK head from the Head Shots Vol. 1 pretty much combine to become a character from the Diablo 3 video game. So unless you like that game it might not be the thing for you.
I'm sure you can pick and choose which figures you want. I think most people are mostly interested in the stock color Bloodbath and Desolataur to be their Classics Bomb-Burst and Skullgrin. The rest are just fun recolors for those who want to make customs or whatever.
