I've lived here long enough to know that I probably won't ever see any of them at retail. The stores near me went most of last year without tf's on their shelves... so no, I've pretty much given up hope on them

Nope, I live in what was recently the fastest growing city in the country (Oswego, Illinois) and our stores (walmart, target, etc) got the wave 1 stuff in 'bout May, then didn't order anything 'til wave 4 (August for target, December for everyone else) I used to really enjoy the hunt, but now I have to start in an entirely different city just to have a chance at getting anything

HS, I'm always suprised (well, not really) to hear you say this about your local stores. I won't divulge, but I know where you live. Isn't it pretty middle America suburbia? I would think the retailers there would stay pretty stocked. Is the Big N to far to go to hunt?

Not really, but its currently under construction, all the roads are being widened again - at the same time I tried going there once, it has scarred me for life the traffic was that bad

Ya! Why can't they stop working on that damn highway. It's been almost ten years since I lved that way and they were always working on it then. The real estate bubble burst kind of killed your town didn't it?

Absolutely murdered it, we have whole subdivisions sitting empty, and half the town is a wasteland of empty stores that no one wants to move into.

It will go well. These guys have been around for a while and Mooncake and mysef have ordered from them before. The real headache will be when they actually get it in stock since you then have to submit and order to be shipped.

About paying upfront, there are advantages that I pointed out before:

1. That gives you the biggest discount possible. Them having your money means they can pay their supplier and thus have less debt of their own, making them able to give you a higher discount since they dont have to deal with the time value of money. Cash is King for corporations and they pass the savings on to you.

2. It is a way to hedge your bets when dealing with fluctuating exchange rates, which is the case here. Right now, the Yen is pretty cheap for Americans and no one can guarantee that to still be the case come summer.

Economically and financially speaking, there is nothing wrong with this practice. Especially if you use paypal, then you have a recourse to anything that can go wrong.
