Actually, I found a seller that had stock of the prime blade for $13 each and posted a thread linking to it as an alternative to the outrageous $80 tag some sellers wanted.

His stock was gone overnight, purchased by seibertronians. The prime blade custom also looks far closer to the movie than this "premium" release.

Here is the link, he has 11 available in the movie orange.

It looks great on voyager prime, but is way too short and stubby on Leader Prime. And BTW it wasnt Hasbro that underestimated demand it was the stores. Forget where I read this but basically since Transformers, Spider-man 3, and Fantasic Four toys were all being released close to each other, stores were playing it cautious and didnt order too many of either, so as not to be overstocked.

Let's face it, Hasbro's been doing this since the beginning of the Transformers franchise, so what's the difference now? Let's take, for example, BW Dinobot; he's been repainted/remolded so many times, it's not even funny:

Original release => Takara's release => Hasbro's 10th Anniversary => Takara's 10th, not to mention all the repaints/slight remolds into different characters (a la 08 Bumblebee to Cliffjumper)

It's economically reasonable for Hasbro to milk the molds for all they're worth (see: Dinobot again, Energon Arcee, etc.), and we're obviously going to have hindsight-bias every time as well. But, I doubt that Hasbro pre-planned the premium line months in advance. The only reason they're having a premium line, I'd say, is based upon how well the original line did, and that's nobody's fault but our own.

All this hostility is annoying and reminiscent of many fan-overreactions of the recent past. Hasbro's not making anybody buy these, and, frankly, we should be glad that demand for Transformers is high enough to warrant this line.

Personally, I held out (aka was broke at the time) and I'm looking forward to getting a couple of these.

I take issue with a few things here.

First off, the mild discontent expressed by a few people here is nothing compared to the bitchfest of BotCon, the movie designs, or animated. I don't think anyone here has really even been all that unreasonable.

Now, everyone knows Hasbro is going to milk the lines for all they're worth. Up until now we have seen actual repaints, redecos, and wholly different paint apps, not just marginally improved paint aps. The fear that TF lines could get to a Star Wars point is valid, though not truly likely to come to pass (TFs being too expensive really).

Now, buyer's remorse? No, not hardly. It's not like I can't buy these. Hell, I will probably buy Megatron and maybe Starscream. What I do not like is not having prior information that said, 'collectors! you might want to hold out entirely for this wave...' Why? because it's all about planning. Hunting & finding is expensive in of itself. Re-buying an entire line for a marginal upgrade? It screams "Malibu Stacey has a new HAT!" to me. (Simpsons reference)

I can and might re-buy these toys. Maybe, I dunno yet. I'm tired of the movie toys. I'm just not thrilled at the ride which is getting us to this 'premium' line.

The bottom line is that nobody is putting a gun to anybody's head, and forcing them to buy these new Premium figures.

People want more movie-accurate paint apps, and they're getting it. There was a demand, and Hasbro gave us what we want.

Complain all you want about Hasbro not telling us in advance, but where does it say they have to? They're running a business and trying to make the most cash out of these toys. It's not being evil or malicious, it's just being clever. If they told us ahead of time, then nobody would have bought the toys the first time around, and they would have lost loads of cash!

Just be thankfully that - for the collectors who DO want to buy some of the toys over again with more accurate paint decos - Hasbro came through and gave us a CHOICE of which toy to buy, instead of just leaving us with the original pink and blue Leader Megs.

But this, goes without saying. This ant of an argument isn't even big enough to warrant killing it with that bazooka of a response.

of course they don't have to tell us. We know that much. What you're saying about 'not buying product' is absolutely not true. Raise your hand folks, if you bought MP-03 knowing that it would likely be put to accurate colors. Raise your hand if you bought MP-05 knowing that there will likely be an MP-05 Perfect Edition.

Just be thankfully that - for the collectors who DO want to buy some of the toys over again with more accurate paint decos - Hasbro came through and gave us a CHOICE of which toy to buy, instead of just leaving us with the original pink and blue Leader Megs.

I am about as big a supporter and non-complainer as you can get. I think though, that the arument here, for all it amounts to, is a collective groan.

and why? Because I AM a Hasbro supporter. Now I have to ask myself, "Ok, do I want to pick up original releases? or wait and potentially see the release of a slightly superior product designed to strike at the OCD nerve all collectors have?"

I think that there is genuine discussion about on this topic. Neither side is being so unreasonable as to call the other out as 'short-sighted'.

Right?

Hmmmm. I can't say that I'm thrilled at Hasbro putting out better repaints after I've bought all of those Transformers. I CAN say that at least all those people who couldn't find Blackout will now get another chance!

That being said, I'm going to definatly buy Starscream. My only question is, "Why do they just about ALWAYS make Starscream an exclusive?"

I already have repro stickers on the way for Barricade, Blackout and Ironhide, so no point into replacing them. I like Jazz the way it is. Ratchet wasn't different enough to justify replacing it. I will probably buy all the remolds (BB with a battle mask IF done in yellow, don't care for the black car, Prime with sword and Megatron) and maybe Voyager Megatron.

And it's quite cheap.

Whats the store and does it deliver to the UK? If not ive got family in germany anyway if it ha anything interesting

Right now they don't have too many stuff, but seem to be decent.

Delivery costs are €6.90 (that's about3-4 pounds), but spent more then €90 (that's about 60 pounds) on em and it's free delivery, but they deliver only in Germany.

Big surprise here...

Counterpunch wrote:First off, the mild discontent expressed by a few people here is nothing compared to the bitchfest of BotCon, the movie designs, or animated. I don't think anyone here has really even been all that unreasonable.

Botcon, the Movie Designs, and Animated Bitchfests were warranted..not that I agree with all of the issues, but they are major changes in the designs that most of the Fandom was used to, and as far as Botcon, most people Who weren't able to get them, or can afford the high ass aftermarket prices, share a collective anger..

Counterpunch wrote:Now, everyone knows Hasbro is going to milk the lines for all they're worth. I agree with you here, but you have to admit there have been some slight redecos that weren't fully repainted toys..and an improvement isn't necessarily a bad thing..

Counterpunch wrote:Now, buyer's remorse? No, not hardly. It's not like I can't buy these. Hell, I will probably buy Megatron and maybe Starscream. I don't think Hasbro considered this repaint whent hey first released the line, or even if they did, it would have hurt their initial release, in either case as a business they probably didn't want to take the chance of letting that info out, then again maybe they hadn't even decided to do it until recently..maybe fan feedback, Bitchfests about the intial releases prompted the rereleased goodness we are about to get in the premium line up.. or like allot of people have been saying, up until the final cut of the movie, the CGI designs were still being revised, so what has been released so far was kinda premature, but on a deadline, so I can understand the need to resculpt th eheadson the Leader class for accuracy reasons.. which is good, it shows Hasbro wants us to get an accurately represented toy.. nice to know they care for once..

Counterpunch wrote:[I can and might re-buy these toys. Maybe, I dunno yet. I'm tired of the movie toys. I'm just not thrilled at the ride which is getting us to this 'premium' line.

If it wasn't for the intial release, and fan support, this ride would have never been,a nd we wouldn't have a premium line.. I'm glad I bought the toys already.. i have the money to buy the premium figures, and I will.. they are nicely done, come in great packaging, and are the closest thing to what I envision a masterpiece of the movie toys could be.. heck now I can finally have a shinny Optimus Prime, or a Shinny and accurate Megatrona nd ot a Baby Pink and Blue model.. the beauty of the others I bought, I now have crappy intial releases to display on a shelf, and the rest to keep MISB, assuming I don't go ape Sh^*& and buy doubles of the Leader class, which I might...

Bringing the issue back to the "Bitchfest" comments you made earlier, I could buy all these Premium figures, and doubles of the Leader class, and still end up paying less then what I would be expected to fork over for the Botcon sets on eBay...the Live action movie just is more important to me then those toys, and actually has a Live action Media, and Video Game, to go along with it... the Games of Deception pack just has a comic..

hmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm weighing that.....

Nope....

Premium line it is!!

I dont think collectors enjoy questioning their loyalty to Hastak.

Lets take the example of the BW Reborn set, you could argue these are "premium"" versions of the old sculpts...but they came out on the 10th anniversary of BW. That made it acceptable, it was a nice gesture 10 years later. 6 months later? That stinks of gouging.

The Takara Dreamwave book collection offered "premium" versions of G1 favourites, with added accessories and face sculpts, but again this was 20 years later give or take. That made it special. A act of appreciation for the original Transformer fan.

The point is, there is nothing wrong with these premium figures except that Hasbro pulled the trigger on them far too soon.
Hasbro should have kept these premium movie figures off shelves until the sequel came out at least.

Then they would have been a nice tip of the hat to collectors, not a slap in the nuts to all those who hunted for the original releases.

I want the premium leaders, I just dont want them 6 months after I buy the original release. This makes me question my loyalty to Hasbro, this makes me second guess future releases. When a consumer feels taken advantage of, that is never good business, this is a shortsighted move for the transformers brand.

My point of view is that the "premium editions" are different from the repaints that we normally get. Typically when we get a repaint it is at least branded as a new character, and sometimes will have a slight remold. That doesn't bother me.

What bothers me with these is that this is how they should have originally been released. They aren't new characters with different personalities (see any of the seekers), they are the exact same characters. Add that to the fact that the original molds are only six months old and it just makes it even harder to justify rebuying these.

And to make sure that there is no confusion, I like repaints. Just please make them a different character.

Changed it just for you CP, my original post now carries a slapnuts reference.

I actually do feel more slapped in the nuts than in the face by these premium reissues, so it works.

I am telling you, if they had released these in a year or two, we could all be thrilled with them. It was just too soon.
