Yes, he's a Van I think a Scion. He has a Guitar that transforms into Laserbeak.

You can see them here:

Second row, next to Thunder.... err Starscream.

That pic looks more like a fan creation than an official TF toy concept. It looks like a "if Soundwave was in the TF live action movie, this is what he
could look like." It is cool non the less...

I think you mis read the question and looked at the the guy's signature.

But yeah, I love that his guitar transforms into lazerbeak.
I wonder where the guitar goes in alt mode?

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
There are some good figures in that gallery (I saw those images long ago, but these ones look clearer)
For now, my "will buy" list is:
Blackarachnia
Grimlock
Slag (dinobot-completist)
the guy with the hook
Blitzwing
Soundwave
the rest of those gallery I think I'll pass...

I'm not saying I won't buy this version of Soundwave until I actually see a few more pictures. I'm not sold on the Scion looking car though.

A few of the others though, Grimlock, the other Dinobots, Ratchet & Blitzwing I'm really looking forward to.

I'm interested in what colours will be used on him. Obviously Dark Blue with Yellow trim is the way to go, but Hasbro don't always decide on the right paint apps for figures.

I half expect some kind of flames or something lame like that to be added in his alt mode.

Thwse where shown at Botcon and Comicon i believe. Hasbro showed some concept drawings of the Universe line. But the Animated line where prototypes and test shots. No drawings AFAIK.

But why do you want a drawing if I gave you a Picture of the Prototype. And Tigertracks has mirrored it. so you don't even have to click on the link.

In any case, anybody else see the potential for a third "boom box" mode for Soundwave?

One that doesn't look like a car that much?

You could probably fold some parts away so it looks less like a car. and more like a boombox.

Am I the only one who thinks that guitar is pretty retarded? There really isn't a single thing I like about this version of Soundwave and that makes me sad in pants.

Yep, I think the guitar is both retarded and stoopid.

Plus, SW's bot mode is just plain hideous.

Why can't they design them in proportion?

The proportions are off yes, that's the animated style.

As for the guitar I find it interesting.

Like has been said before, reminds me of Silverhawks Bluegrass, who also has a transforming guitar, that also happens to turn into a Bird.

Blitzwing had no prototype, but they used concept art.

my biggest worry with Animated soundwave will be his personality in the show. I'm hoping for either his old monotonous personality or a stereotypical British rocker.

I love the toy, although I should wait till I get the toy to make more judgment.

True, true, blitzwing was indeed a concept drawing. Though Soundwave was only a prototype.

I would hope he gets his old reverberating voice. But i guess an English accent to him wouldn't be too bad, although he'd be a completely different soundwave. I always think of Soundwave as cold and calculating, not rocking it out. but hey you never know.

I too am concerned about what personality they'll give him. I realize that his original personality was barely a personality at all,so I expect some sort of update. I just hope they don't overdo it.
