Classics Jetfire Sucks: It's impossible to actually use those words to describe the figure, isn't it

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Addressing the thread title: Yes, I think it is impossible. This figure gave me what I wanted out of TF since I started collecting again with RID.

I already gushed on it in my review, though. Read it here:

A friend of mine who lives in japan doesn't think classics jetfire is so hot. As she says she likes the orignial g1 jetfire even if it is robotech fighter painted in autobot colors. Heck she is one of the most hardcore transformer fans there is. Her collection has some of the most rare figure there are in perfect condition including Battle Gaia.

A. I don't like his feet.

2. I find the arm and leg transformation dull.

d. Alt mode as a lot of bulk on the undercarriage

k. Hands don't go anywhere and are still visible in Alt. mode.

Yeah, that's my only reservation too. I don't like the arms in the jet mode. They are too visible. More could have been done to hide the hands and make the arms look like better engines.

Overall, I like him, but he's not my favorite.

Weapon: Laser Scalpel
this may come as a surprise but I DON'T LIKE HIM!
(I have odd taste anyway)

I don't want him, I don't have him.
BUT
I admit that he is awesome.

just not my bag. doesn't mean I don't recognize a good TF toy when I see one!

all my negative reasons are highly personal/preferential.
I still say he is the KING and all hail the KING!

I still see Jetfire/Skyfire at my local Wal-Mart. He sits next to Alternators Skids and Riccochet, DVD Optimus Prime, and MP Starscream. I have a feeling that my city is not full of TF nerds, I may be wrong, but I hope I'm not.

take all the positives in this thread and a few more, and i don't need to sing about the wonders of this toy. simply the best ever, and even beats Classics Mirage in my book. i dunno, but i guess it's just personal preference. this wonder got me excited all over the Classics again, and getting this toy meant that i practically have completed my Classics collection (if you don't count the UM/Warp & CJ, which are basically repaints of existing molds).

here's the opened JF sitting on my messy desk:

Image

best Classics voyager? you can count on it. even beats OP & Megs, and those 2 are ranked high in the "cool" meter. must be all those wicked gimmicks this toy has. posted some pics of my JF in the hauls thread.

Classics Jetfire is a great figure. But the best? No. That title surely has to go to Voyager Prime by any criteria you use. You see...
*Jetfire has trouble holding any pose other than standing bolt upright, unless you take his backpack off. But why would you leave the backpack off? You then lose some of the homage effect, which is why you bought him in the first place.

*His feet are a pointless homage to the worst aspect of the original toy. Again, this makes it difficult to pose him.
*His arms lack a rotator above the elbow that would have improved his posability no end.

*His alt mode looks good from above, but very lazy from the side or below. The arms are just there, with no real attempt at transformation, and his gun doesn't even split into symmetrical halves.

*Leaving the rocket launchers off leaves what can only be called "sodding great holes" in his arms.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a good, even great, figure. But he's by no means the best Classics figure.

I heart Classics Jetfire. My favorite thing about him are his vertical rudders and horizontal stabilizers, how they can be positioned in a few different ways- right angles to each other, stabilizers horizontal and rudders at a 45* angle, or both stabilizers and rudders at 45*, very stealth-fighter-like. And ya gotta love the swing-wings.

And god help us, he has real landing gear! Yes!

There's still six on the shelf as of today, maybe take a road trip to Nebraska? I can give you directions.

There's also two Jetfires collecting dust...Someone needs to come save them from a horrible fate.

I don't understand why I keep hearing this complaint. I can pose Jetfire dynamically with relative ease compared to, say, Grimlock. Either I have the most stable Jetfire ever produced, or you're not being careful enough. 8)

I don't have Grimlock, so for all I know, you're comparing Jetfire to the least stable TF ever. But compared to the other Classics I have (Voyager Prime/Magnus, Skywarp/Starscream, Bumblebee, Mirage), Jetfire is the hardest to pose.

ahahahaha - best post of the day (so far!) thanks for making up my morning.

and yes, i must admit that even i have trouble getting Jetfire to stand - if you put on the fastpack and battle armor, that is. but i display mine G1-cartoon style without the fastpack and armor attached, and he can stand straighter than a Royal Guard in Buckingham palace.

as i have said earlier, this toy has flaws - but i dunno, he really is IMHO the most G1-nish Classic i've ever had, much even more than the Seekers. maybe it's because i've never had the original one, but this toy has a certain vibe to it...

it's really hard to describe and i know if you base it on poseability alone Mirage will thrash this sucker...but heck, at least despite troubles posing in "super" mode, and least he ain't no brick aight?

plus, he's the best bang for the buck out there, even better than the TFTM Voyagers by a mile. better plastics and solid construction, not to mention an arseload of cool gimmicks, plus you get to customize it with armor. what more couldn't you like from this?
