Henkei or Hasbro Classics?

Which versions of the figures do you like more? I plan on getting a couple, but I don't know which ones are better. A lot of them seem the same aside from the random chrome and more G1 accurate look of the Henkei figures.

I prefer Hasbros for the most part. Case in point, Henkei Skyfire looks cooler in picture but put him and Classics Jetfire together and Jetfire wins. I have most of the Henkei line and the only ones I recommend are Optimus, Megatron and the 3 Seekers. I'm still waiting for them to make a Magnus!

I feel that it's really a case by case basis. Which ones are you looking at?

If you like chrome, go Takara. But in all seriousness, the Hasbro version is just as sweet.

But as Geekee1 said, its case by case. Some look more G1 than others so its up to you.

I agree its a case by case situation. for instance...Henkei seekers=awesome. Henkei Galvatron=the suck imo. It just depends on taste really. I am content with most Hasbro versions.

I'm curious to know if whether or not Henkei Grimlock is better than the regular. I've noticed that Classics are more expensive than Henkei at the moment and I found a good deal on some. I'm considering Grimlock, but after hearing the complaints about Skyfire I'm considering the Jetfor/ Grimlock 2 pack. Any thoughts or know where I can get comparison shots?

I don't think Henkei Grimlock is profoundly better than his Classics counterpart. He has a major amount chrome, and an I know that ends up bothering some people.

What complaints about Skyfire. He is simply sweet!!!!!!

The Jetfire/Grimlock 2 pack would be a good option if you do not particularly care for one version over the other.

Personally, I really don't like Henkei Grimlock. As far as I'm concerned he is the worst Henkei in the line. I just do not like the use of chrome on him. Others may like it, but I much prefer the original. Plus I'm not a huge fan of chrome due to it's durability.

I'm not a fan of chrome either, but I was stupid and only bought Classics Megatron when they were in the US so now I have to resort to either Henkei or secondary market. Henkei's my best option, but I think I'm going to get the Grimlock/ Skyfire set so I can save some money.

Damn dude I couldn't agree with you more  Henkei grimlock IMHO is a failure. I appreciate the atempt at the G1 look with the chrome accents but the white teeth are KILLIN ME  ...when I first seen those Henki Grimlock pics I indeed laughed my ass off

That sounds like something Grimmy would have said in Season 3 of the Sunbow cartoon. You know, right before he went off with Daniel to fight with wizards.

Overall, I think Henkei is superior to Classics. Yeah, Henkei Grimlock may look a bit random, but I think the random chrome looks better than the fifty different shades of yellow Classics Sunstreaker is.

So far, Hasbro has tried twice and is yet to beat Henkei Starscream. Henkei Thundercracker is way more detailed than the GoD Thundercracker, and in my opinion Henkei Skywarp is a better shade of purple than Classics as well.

Then there’s Classics Galvatron, who’s fine I guess if you like his hideous bits of neon-orange plastic.

I really liked Galvatron. He's not the most posable figure, but he sure does look cool. I also don't care that he's not a voyager.

I think I'll go ahead and drop Henkei Starscream from my list as the 25th is much cheaper. I'm also not a fan of chrome. Rodimus made it look really good though. I usually don't care about price, but I have to bugdet. I'm sure everyone's been down that road.

Hasbro wins for the sheer fact that I can afford the Hasbro released figures over Henkei. Twin boys, a new son and a sick wife can really impact your TF buying habits!

I disagree with this. Henkei Thundercracker has different details than the BotCon one, not necessarily more. The Henkei one is also less accurate in some ways where it does have more detail, such as the launchers.

The only time I pick Classics/Universe versions over Henkei is if I don't like where the chrome paint is applied.

Whilst the use of the chrome is sometimes a bit random I think it enhances the look of certain figures and in general I think the overall color schemes are nicer than the Hasbro versions which often seem half assed by comparison.

Looking at the next lot of new Universe toys I think Cyclonus is crying out for a Henkei release as it looks very unfinished and IMO the sloppy paint apps make what is possibly the best Decepticon mold in the line so far appear like a cheap knockoff.

Perhaps I should’ve said he had better paint applications? Don’t know, Botcon TC just didn’t look very good or detailed to me from all of the pictures I’ve seen. Although that could just be me.

I suppose it all really depends on what you like better though. Detail versus accuracy, Henkei can tend to be more detailed, but less accurate, whereas Hasbro (at least with first Classics) leaned more towards accuracy. Like with the Rubsymbols.

I am probably getting a little bit bias on this topic though, as I generally have been disappointed with the majority of Hasbro’s more recent offerings. Stuff like Cyclonus, blue face Ironhide, anemic Sunstreaker, nineties orange Galvatron, ect.

If this were just first classics, then I’d say Hasbro’s pretty much on-par or better than Takara. But with their more recent quality, I find myself buying fewer of their toys.

Oh, I certainly agree with all of that. Hasbro is really in someways, finally crossing the line with me. A lot of what they are doing is basically straight up telling me to buy Henkei.

Blue faced Ironhide, White Powerglide, soft white plastic on Cyclonus...Sheesh.
