I like Magnaboss. He's pretty neat to look at and is the most poseable combiner of all that preceded him but he's not my favourite.

Computron takes that monicker of the best combiner ever, in my world.

I have Magnaboss myself, well the Japanese edition, along with Tripledacus (Japanese Tripredacus) and I like the both of them. I'll admit Magnaboss is a bit fiddly to assemble, but the result is amazing for its time and he actually has hands! Splaying the tusks out to the side as if they spawn from his head is the way to go.
Tripledacus looks freaky, which suits him really well, the only bad point to mention is Ram Horn (or Motorarm in my case), his weapon storage to be exact. It takes a little more pressure to get into place than I'd like. By the way, my DJ (Cicadacon) has a broken sword, anybody got a spare?

My absolute favourite however has to be RiD Rail Racer, for the lack of Landfill. I love trains, and he is everything a combiner should be. Proportionate (even if Midnight Express has for suffer for it), has articulation, and just looks nice. The greatest touch would have to be Rapid Run forming the midsection and rocket pack.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

The more I think about it, the more Magnaboss would look out of place without his nemesis. Guyess I<ll get Magmatron too. Sure, the individual beast modes lack individual robot modes, but the overall combined robot is too awesome looking to ignore.

But after seeng JTMitchell87's video review, it look like the eagle 'bot, silverbolt, kinda suffer from the infamous GPS. That is really unfortunate because this look like a very cool and interesting TF. I wonder if the Korean version have the GPS fixed on Silverbolt?

I may have to pass on this very cool, very tribal looking thing....

I'm not familiar with the letters GPS but I've never had problems with the toy except it is spectacularly complicated. I bought two of them when they came out and gave one to my kids but of course that one ended up being given away at some point. Aren't most of the rip offs pretty junky? With how complicated it is I imagine a crap version would fall to pieces on the first transformation. I'll have to look it up but I thought most of the beast wars original merchandise doesn't cost much.

The Korean figures produced by Sonokong are not rip offs, knock offs or remakes. They are licensed product, probably produced in the same factories as the Takara versions and in almost all cases identical to the Japanese releases aside from their packaging (I believe there were minor paint differences on the Sonokong Lio Convoy). My Sonokong JRX is one of my most prized pieces and absolutely top quality. Also I'll agree with Jelze that JRX/Rail Racer is the best engineered combiner HasTak have ever produced and if not the best TF ever then certainly deserving of a place in anybody's top ten.

The way it was brought up in two posts it sounded like a remake. It wasn't mentioned in a way that would suggest it is a totally different toy and almost entirely unrelated. I checked it out and it seems to be a recent product (not vintage like Magnaboss) but it does seem to be a rather neat dinobot beast wars combiner. Do you have a picture of your JRX/Rail Racer?

Here's Rail Racer from the Seibertron Galleries:

Image

The Japanese version, JRX, uses clear plastic extensively just to get clear windows, so it has a lot of paint as well. However, that's the main weakness as the paint used is of inferior quality. Here are the links to the galleries, both of Rail Racer and of the indidivual figures:

Rail Racer

Midnight Express (or J-4)
Rapid Run (or J-7)
Railspike (or J-5)

DAMN YOU, THREAD! YOU DRIVE ME TO SPEND!

I just received Magnaboss today!
So, here's my quick review:

The lion by itself is just awesome. Perfect beast mode, perfect robot mode, and a clever transformation.

The bird suck. Beast mode is okay but the robot is stupid.

Elephant is great. Excellent beast mode, and the robot is intimidating.

Magnaboss combine is great looking, but the robot mode is downgraded by the excessive leg kibbles and the wing-flaps that are in the arms way.

Overall, Magnabos is a good TF. But hardly the best ever in my humble opinion. If you can have him cheap, I recommend it. I got mine brand new, Korean version, for only 40$ with free shipping from Korea!

Now, I'm waiting for Magmatron to see if he's better.
Come see my latest creation, Death Hand, the actual transforming Transformers!

Magnaboss is too "goodie-goodie two shoes" for my tastes (plus, none of the individual bots look that great), but I do love his Predacon nemesis, even if his right hand is... odd:

Do you have some photos of yours? I'm curious how it compares to the real one in color. There are at least a few hundred transformer characters and toys I like more but strictly basing it on transforming it's the best I've seen and there are only a handful of the many thousands of transformers a person who has actually transformed them could honestly argue otherwise.

Again, Korean versions aren't fake, they're officially licensed.

Is the word fake in my last post under a rub sign? If you feel a remake and the original vintage item are the same that's great you feel that way but I'm not sure I understand the emotion behind your jabs. Do you own part of the Korean company? You don't think a remake could have differently colored plastic?

All I'm saying is that such reproductions are just as real as the originals they're based on. Not calling them "real" would be a bit of an injustice. :)

They produce the toys for the Korean market just like Hasbro for the Western hemisphere and Tomy Takara for the Japan market. They are not reissues\remakes.
They are every bit a true Transformers toy.
They follow the same production values Hasbro and Takara use. The series aren't released in the same time frames though and Korea gets them sometimes years later.
There may be slight differences in color, but from what I've seen they tend to follow the same color palette as Hasbro or Takara versions.

Throughout the Transformers and Pre-Transformers history different manufacturers
have been given licenses to produce official toys. Sonokong is one of those companies.
It's one thing to guesstimate that there may be differences in the color palette, but it sounds a little insulting to refer to the Sonokong issues as remakes, denoting they are not official and knock offs.

Discharge, speaking of Sonokong, I just got my Korean Magmatron today. He is very impressive. The only fault I find him are the lack of individual robot modes for each dino components. However, that sacrefice was not in vain. The beast modes are all PERFECT.

The combined Magmatron himself is pretty awesome, with avery "Devilman" feel. Unfortunately, mine seem determined to be looking down his chest.

Hoh well...

Now, the only one I miss is the bug combiner. But I really don't like him. King Poseidon complete the trio for me.

Magmatron is very impressive without a doubt. The only thing that would make him one of my top three combiners is if he was more articulated......like Magnaboss. Seasaur is my fave of the three alt modes. Very unique. Nothing like him anywhere.
As for Tripredicus (the bug combiner). He seems a little incoherent to me in combined mode. Messy.

You're getting a bit off topic about how awesome Magnaboss is! However,
by your definition there is no such thing as a reissue or remake as the reissues are official toys. If you're going to debate by making your own definition for words in common use you can always win in your eyes. So do you have any version of Magnaboss and your experiences to share or are you just here to semanticize me into submission? If that's all I surrender and board the Ark. :BOT:

Magmatron looks down on his chest when you misalign the Landsaur / Skysaur combination. It can fit perfectly if you get everything straight... Which is a bit of a chore.
