People seem to really hate transformers energon toys

Postby shortround » Wed Nov 14, 2007 1:52 am

Everyone seems to rag on all energon toys for some reason. Armada I can understand since most of that series of toys sucked but energon had a few gems. I can name three that I'm proud to own:

1. Slugslinger
2. Mirage
3. Omega Supreme/Sentinel

I would love to hear from other people what they think some of the gems from energon are.

I actually like the multiple homages in Energon.

Rodimus, DownShift/Wheeljack, Energon Starscream, Omega Supreme.

Apart from Optimus being so..... fat, I'm fine with the line.

well, i actually like Energon Prime myself...the beauty of this is his ability to become "sentai-like" by powerlinking with his different components...lots of variety and lots of fun! plus the ability to combine with Omega Supreme and Wing Saber is a definite plus, and when Omega Primed, he's the tallest of the 3 (or 4, if you count RID) Superprimes.

I think they're hideous. They proportions are designs are a bit too weird for my taste.

But in fairness, my Classics Devastator (Energon redeco) is in my Top 5 favorite figures. Even if it is a tad funny looking.

I am rather fond of Wing Saber and Scorponok. I really enjoyed Energon and have every mold and almost every repaint. we've been really blessed the last few generations. Also Skyblast and Longarm are real gems for a small price.

I love my Energon Starscream. I also loved Energon Megatron on the show, but I love my figure of him a little less. Who thought connecting his sword to a tank that connects to his arm was a good idea?

I love all of Energon. The figures were excellent, and even the minicons were passable.

Energon was the biggest homage to G1 to date. Scramble combiners, Downshift, Rodimus, Strongarm, Galvatron, Scorponok etc etc

And all of the figures are well designed and full of detail.
I must say it has the highest number of kickass Voyagers any line has had to date- Scorponok, Landmine, Bulkhead, Shockwave, Wingsaber, Mirage/ Dreadwing...

some good figures in the line & some horrendus, just like any other line. I think the major dislike came from the energon weapons. Comming from Armada which gave you a mini-figure that attached to your bigger bot & increased his powers, instead you get this bright neon colored weapon which I think seemed like a huge rip-off, esp. when they did reissues & removed the minicons.

by the time Cybertron came out, we got use to Energon, & they gave us a key instead as the gimmick, but they kept many of the energon weapons I think, plus many new models were made.

Scorponok, Landmine and Bulkhead were all ultras rather than voyagers weren't they?

I can't think of a single Energon recolour of an Armada toy that didn't come with the Minicons. Magnus even came with extras.

I've got almost all of the Energon line and looking back I'd have to say that most of the Autobots were bad/average whereas most of the Decepticons were good/excellent. I'd say that the combining aspect of the Autobots ultimately had a negative effect on the stand-alone figure. My favourites from the line are Galvatron, Starscream, and Mirage/Dreadwing.

The Energon Decepticons were outstanding....the Autobots, well personally I don't care much for the combination idea, unless they're gestalt figures. The Deluxe Autobot combos are so-so but the Voyagers or whatever like Ironhide were abominations to man. The connection parts IMO ruined some otherwise very nice figures.
Slugslinger is one of my favorite molds ever I think, and Mirage/Dreadwing are probably right up there. Energon Bruticus was the best of the combiners and Galvatron, oh Galvatron.....Starscream surprisingly is one of my least favorites from this line, and Starscream is always my default favorite. Prefer Cybertron Dark Skorpanok to the Energon one, but Autobots Bulkhead/Quickstrike and Landmine/Quake are fantastic.

I love this line. In retrospect. I can say that now, now that it's dead.

I only own Shockblast but love the other G1 throwback designs. I just with the dinobots' proportions had been better.

I only have one fig from that line. Energon Unicron.

The only fig from Armada, that I have is Unicron.

Other than that, I hated every fig in that Trilogy, except Primus and little Unicron.

I own the following: prowl, rodimus, downshift, inferno, roadblock, towline, hotshot. ie, the smaller of the linkers.

They have a slightly quirky look mainly because of the constraints thrown at them by having FOUR modes each, ie alt, bot and then the top or bottom of the linked bot (well aside from towline who only has 3 modes as such).

I feel they have the TF 'look', are tough as old boots and have great playability, some of the combined modes are really cool, and as weird as prowl is i really like that toy.

I enjoy these a lot as you can fiddle around with them and they seem not to loosen and if they drop they seem not to break (well, not as of yet) as much as i love my gen 1 reissues they do have a bit of fragility about them, so they saty on the shelf and energon get thrown around.

aside from those toys im not a fan of the trilogy atall.

I think Energon might be my favorite line, after the Movie toys. I've picked up several Energons lately, and I like them all: Scorponok (love the triple-changers!), Landmine (a pseudo-triple-changer), Bulkhead, G1-colored Starscream, Tow-line, Megatron (my first non-movie Megs!), and both Primes. And I had a few to begin with, including Rodimus, Downshift, Inferno, Hotshot and a couple others I can't recall the names at the moment.

I love the Powerlinx feature, and the fact that a given robot can become pants and shirt. Large Prime is cool, as someone said above, because you can combine his limbs in different ways. The whole idea of OP towing his fleet of drones is clever and realistic, and combining w/ them is a natural. I like little Prime bec. he can Powerlinx w/ others.

There are many other Energons I'm hoping to get, it's a great series. FWIW...

Yo CP, That was Funny! :) That had to take some time, I applaud you! :APPLAUSE:

You did make me realize that I have the minicons that make up Star Saber, but they are clear yellow and Black, not the ones pictured. I also, have the space minicon team, that makes up Requem Blaster. Unicron needs things to chase while in planet mode! Bwahahahaahaaahaaa

Ah Energon. This was the line that was out when I first decided to officially collect Transformers, and I kept finding them cheap, so I've probably got at least half the molds of the line. As such, my goal is to eventually get every mold of the line that's not a repaint.

I also love the powerlinking. It may not "look" good, but it's sure is fun to fiddle with.

Terrorcons are awsome, easily one of my favorite sub-groups.

The Omnibots are equally good, Strongarm is one of the best transformers in my opinion.

That'll be the Energon Sabre team from the Energon line. It's remoulded as well as recoloured from the Armada Star Sabre.

Yeah, he's the one on the Left in this link. He does look different. Are all of the components remoulded or just the top one?
