I'm thinking one of those coms jets.

Or maybe a space shuttle?

I remember reading that in the develpoment stages of TF1 they planned to have Megatron take on the earthen alt mode of a B-2 "Spirit" Stealth Bomber but this was later canned, I'll bet that they'll just continue their work with that and make that Soundwave since it fits his character.

I can't believe how many people are suggesting Soundwave be a van or truck... WTF? Soundwave doesn't drive!

Yeah, I see your point... Although Soundwave was never known for speed, maybe I like the idea of some sort of jet better.
But, it would be cool if they could figure out some sort of awesome vehicle for him.
Although in the first film, only SS could fly in bot mode, right?
If Soundwave could fly in bot mode, then I'd be okay with him being a military comms truck/vehicle.

His name is Soundwave.. I doubt he'll be something like a military vehicle or weapon.

Think about it... he'll be a T.V.!

I disagree. I cannot see Soundwave with an airborne alt-mode myself. Granted, he has had them in a few incarnations (if memory serves) previously, but I just can't see it for TF2.

Oh yes, I expect Michael Bay to screw it up again, but what can ya do?

Personally I think Skywarp or Cyclonus would make very good stealth airfraft. And have the other seekers and Scourge be other fightercraft.

Soundwave needs to be a land-based military communications vehicle, especially if his subbordinates are to get in and out of sensetive areas quickly with vital information wihtout being detected. Such an alt mode would allow Soundwave to get in close wihtout detection when it was too late, deploy Laserbeak or Ravage, they get what's needed and get out and back to Soundwave without being seen. Soundwave usually did this in G1 and was successful in many attempts because he was able to get within close proximity of his target and always had a backup from one of his minions. Jets and helicopters would attract too much attention, especially in close proximity to a vital location. Soundwave is an inflitrator, the best Megatron has. Soudnwave knows he can make a quick and noisey getaway after he has what he needs. It's before he acts that counts. Heck Blackout was caught 10 miles out from the airforce base in Qutar. He only had the element of surprise to has advantage as they thought he was an enemy bogey and not a giant robot.

Even Barricade can't really get into military bases since he transforms into a local authority vehicle and really wouldn't be permitted on a military base where military police are on duty. All Barricade really needs to do now is keep tabs on the Autobots and report on more arrivals.

As for his toy size, I would imagine he'd be no bigger than Ironhide or Ratchet. A Voyager size would be perfect for him.

I really think Bay’s been doing a great job. I think I’m not alone in thinking this or the movie probably wouldn’t have made $700,000,000 and managed to become the best selling DVD in a matter of four months.

In little ways the movie designs are actually much like the G1 designs, kind of. But seriously, I don’t think it would have looked right for them to look just like their G1 counterparts on the big screen.

But to each their own.

Submarines use sonar to visualise their surroundings using reverberated sound right? wouldn't that make a sensible alt mode for Soundwave? not conventional but makes sense i guess.

They are also pretty stealthy.

I don't know if someone said this already, but there have been a few times where people, on the possibility of a movie Soundwave, have mentioned an AWACS plane. I agree with them.

Some sort of HUGE military vehicle that can store his minions inside him. For some reason I picture a stealth bomber. As long as he's not a stupid Scion.

Something Michael Bay thinks is cool. So probably a slow-motion explosion, or a sunset.

Well the ultimate TF2 Soundwave would be a Leader Class Stealth fighter.
You know it, It would kick ass.

Okay tell me, how does Soundwave gather his intel from underwater or from the sky where he could be seen if he got too close to a sensetive military facility? He needs to sneak around. That's how get got most of his information. A CIA or miltiary comm truck of some sorts would be perfect for him. If he was a vehicle belonging to the CIA he'd have instant access to all sorts of information wihtout worry of detection and if he's a military car he could probably get into the Pentagon or other miltiary facilities and deploy Ravage or someone to get the info and get out without detection. He can't do that form underwater. We have no underwater military bases and the technology isn't there, from what we know. And nowadays you really can't fly a jet over a vital area without somebody knowing. Stealth's may be hidden from Radar, but not human eyes, especially numerous ones (which Soundwave would not want), and they aren't really quiet in enclosed areas either. As much as subs use sonar, it's not what Soundwave uses. Sonar is used to find things, not communicate or hack networks, or be used as weaponry. Communciations and Infiltration are his savys. Yes a Soundwave stealth figther is a nice idea but it should stay in the cartoons, where it belongs. It doesn't work in the movies.
