Hoop? Where's that?

The only Robot Master Seekers i've held in my hands are KO toys. They don't have much articulation. None at the legs part. I thought this was just a simplification of the KO manufacturers.

Exactly. RM for jet mode, Classics for Robot. I just wish they had done the coneheads in the RM line.

from the core classics line ie the delux toys (i see the legends/minibots and devastator as cheap add ons) and megs/optimus voyager id say grimlock is the biggest disappointment.

I quite like the toy as it stands BUT I feel the designers should have left this one on the drawing board and tried something else totally, from what ive seen animation grimlock is going to be sweet even if its not the definitive version we were hoping for. The classics series give hasbro/takara the opportunity to release 'definitive' versions of G1 characters and its sad that grimmers has already been done and the chance wasted. Aside from starscreams rather dull colours (oh and megatron, i just didnt like him atall but i was more concerned with grimlocks incarnation than megatrons-weve lots of different megatrons to play with)id say theres not much else wrong with the remaining classics.

magnus didnt come with his armor and hes ugly
the dinobots i give a 0 out of 10

i did like skywarp better than starscream

rodimus has a dumb name. it should be hot rod since he didnt come with his trailer. the figure is crappy.

and the other mini con teams? a dumb idea and probably crappy figures since the g1 toys didnt HAVE mini cons.

overkill is going to be released later but its a repaint of grimlock and i would give it the same rating as grimlock, 1/10
astrotrain im sick of his arm/hands. his legs look pathetic. his arms keep breaking off.
mirage looks like a humpback person, like my uncle.

so overall i rate the classics a 2/10 :shock:

Prime's alt mode is not a truck. In fact, it doesn't look like anything. The robot mode, once again thanks to a pointles "modern" transformation, has stupid kibble on the arms and disproportionate legs. Deluxe Prime at least got the robot mode right but the vehicle mode was even worse than the regular Prime's.

Astrotrain lost the simplicity that made the first few triple-changers so cool. I really wish they kept the original transformation with this one.

Rodimus doesn't even have good articulation. The arms suck. In fact, I'm not too fond of any of it. It tries to be a cross between Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime. This, sadly, prevents it from fully looking like either.

Mirage's proportions are terrible. And he can't look forward without leaning back. And leaning back makes him fall thanks to kibble(once again, thanks to a new transformation)

Can't complain much about Skyfire since it comes the closest to acheiving its goal but then again it does have quite a few fragile points and has trouble standing.

Aside from its more well known problems, Megatron's head doesn't quite have the "helmet" look and has more of a "helmet melted onto the sides of the head" look.

Devastator almost makes me cry from its sheer wasted potential.

I could go on. Worst line ever in my book. I can't find one good figure in the whole line. If the transformations had been more true to the originals then a lot of problems could have been avoided.

chaos bringer, id agree with you that the diaclones were incredible toys with simplicity and ingenuity combined. I too would like to have seen a more 'direct port' of the diaclone toys done with more articulation. I dont mind some of the changes that i feel work well, i actually like the way the seeker transformation works and the bot modes aside from the nose cone stuck there behind the head are as well reimagined as i could have hoped for.

Id say that the seeker design is the what the others should have tried for but then with grimlock things just went belly up, that toy sits outside the other classics as being a re imagining that didnt quite work (i dont like how the tail isnt really part of the bot, what a waste of useful parts), the original diaclone toy had a great transformation that could have easily been ported to a new and posable toy.

the OP mould is pretty decent but theres too much clumsy kibble on his back and the arm shields should have been dealt with (ie they shouldnt be there one of the weaker aspects of the toy)

the one toy i didnt like the look of at first was mirage, his rather skiny but hunched look put me off but in buying it hes a remarkable toy on its own merits, super posable and rather unique. various positioning of the chest area can reduce the hunched look somewhat.

I always judge a toy on its own merits but in this case the classics could have been improved if they had stuck to the roots a bit more, that aside none of the toys are terrible (im ignoring the minicons/legends and devvy as they were terrible for the most part and just dont count).

heres hoping classics 2 is going to be better.

Yeah i didn't understand why the Hunch piece on Mirage wasn't made to be detachable?? or atleast slide down to the back area..?? what gives...

Oh and on the subject of Optimus Prime reimagined and his trailer..

meh.. he wasn't so bad.. as a reimagined version, he is pretty cool.. but I do think he's gotten a little bulky... they all have gotten kinda Bulky and I feel that maybe this series does have it's flaws.. it reminds me of Hasbro's reimagined Starwars toys... evryone had super hero Muscles.. so for me.. Classics is actually Transformers on steroids!! Barry Bons look out, Optimus is coming!!! :grin:

as far as Prime's trailer goes.. If you don't like the trailer and place it in the closet then you really can't do this:

I don't hate the trailer and lots of Prime trailers are fun but I don't see why the Classics Voyager needed one. I do.. I think the trailer was a necessity. it's the only playset that we can get with a Bot, and it's cental to Prime's G-1 persona.. if this was a Truly reimagined Prime, he'd have come with a Trailer...and justified his 35.00 to 40.00 SRP price tag in stores.. I think a Repair bay for others to use in classics should have been a plus.. and I don't understand the logic with buying the trailer seperate.. it should have come in the original toy to begin with..

To be honest, I can't see why they'd release the trailer separate, either, and I don't imagine they will. I can also see the functionality of the trailer in the fictional universe and the play value trailers add as toys but I just don't see why it's necessary. To me, it's more like an added bonus. The presence of a trailer certainly adds to the toy but I don't think the absence of a trailer detracts from the toy.

Here's my justification for why Classics Prime does not have a trailer, you just might like this...

I see classics as a 'pre-story' to the events in Armada, Energon, and Cybertron. For me, Classics Prime is Optimus Prime prior to becoming the Matrix bearer (which would happen as Armada roles around). Hence, he isn't powered up yet to have the trailer system.

The idea kind of makes sense too. Megatron would start off as a gun (classics) realize the need for more firepower (Armada tank) and would progress from there.

Like the Seekers, powerful as the F-15s in Classics, but they assume more powerful forms later and as they are seperated, take on more different forms.

It's all fan-fic in my head though. :oops:

So, in a way, in your head, Classics is like a War Within for the Unicron Trilogy? That's an interesting idea. Presumably Rodimus disappears prior to Armada and returns with a new, powered-up form in Energon?

I like Ramjet. He has a solid, and more proportional feel to the Seeker toys. And the wings won't get in the way when he wants to fire his arm cannons. The colors are so much better than SS too. Close to the level of Skywarp.

Cliffjumper is a disappointment. Aside from being an exact twin of BB, his plastic quality looks cheaper and weaker than his twin BB. But i already paid the $10!

Overkill was one of G1 Soundwave's cassettes. He transformed into a T-Rex (or similar).
