I think that at the end of the film the seemingly deactivated Megatron should send a message that reaches Cybertron. All you need is a shot of Cyberton and then Soundwave's voice is ehard saying "Acknowledged Megatron. Laserbeak - eject. Operation rescue." or something to that effect. There will be a lot of people in the theatre I think that are familiar with G1 and are going to be wondering why Soundwave wasn't in this movie. This would at least tell them he exists and was just back on Cybertron.
