You've got newfound love for BW, BM, RiD, now Energon.

You completely skipped over Armada.

Frankly, I'm disappointed at your lack of thoroughness.

:P

Hey..... I gotta start some where right???

By the way, I have NO love for Beast Machines...

Energon wasn't on my scopes until I grudgingly took a video tour via http://www.Youtube.com and saw Wing Saber Prime!!! I was hooked on that design after that!! He's pretty cool..

I already collected Armada at one time..though I am more interested in Energon at this time.. I may go back and take a look at Armada again.. but I'm starting here in the middle of the Unicron Trilogy series..

E-Prime's ability to combine with Wing Saber is the only reason that I bought him. He's far from my favorite Prime, but he's alright.

I agree with Skywarp that E-Hotshot sucked.
I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

Me too. Had the Prime Units had Robot modes, he could have even been repainted into Menasor.

But i still love the wingsaber combo. if i could find a Wingsaber at decent price, that ships here and doesn't cost a fortune to ship I'd be happy.

There are a few worthy energon Figures, Like Shockblast, Towline, Rodimus,Galvatron, dark Unicron. etc..

I restarted my collecting with Energon, actually. I bought Arcee, Sharkticon and Starscream. I wished I could have gotten Mirage, though.

I will NOT allow anyone to badmouth Sharkiton. Sure, the color scheme is weird and his legs are showing in alt mode, but he is incredibly awesome.

I gotta say though that for those who are against the chrome coloring, you have got to be kidding.. if you look at these 2 comparisons it shows that the chrome coloring version of Prime looks much more expensive and worth while then the plastic grey colored one...

Dull Grey toyish coloring:

See the difference???

Shinny Chromium Metallic coloring:
Image

Hasbro always does hat with their paint Applications.. I just don't understand the logic. if it's to save on money in production, then its just plain cheapness...for a domestic release, we in the USA should get the same quality as Japan if not better...

Now all I have to do is track them down at a cheap price...

I am against chromed parts.

They should be avoided where ever possible. That stuff degrades over time. Any kind of skin oil at all is like death to that stuff. So, you have to be overly careful in handling them. I hate it.

I have a solution to that:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002KQ0DO/ref ... amp=211189

this stuff is toy plastic safe, will not degrade the plastic over time, and is impenetrible to the human oils and scratching.. but not excessive scratching, say throwing it up in the air or pulling it behind a truck on grvel.. but it works.. I used it to repair My Optimus Prime, G-1 from 1984, and it's been chrome colored and nice for over 6 years now...

All I did was remove the grill and repaint with a thin fine coat, let dry for a day, and it came out quite nicely..

ofcourse when I do buy Energon Prime, I plan on only opening it once and transforming it with Wing Saber for display, then placing them back in the box for storage..since I have to leave them in Williamsburg with my Parents..No room at my new house in Gloucester.. no attic space..

Great argument as always Skywarp-2, but I still can't really get into this Prime. I mean, they even drew him fat in the toons.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but I can't accept it. *whimper*

Plus they have the electronics and battery compartment to fit in there.

Personally I think why this guy gets such a bad rap, esp in combined mode with the drones was that they weren't color coordinated. If the drones were one uniform color like blue on his legs or even silver or grey he would have been more widely accepted. The multicolors was just to cash in on Power Rangers or try and convert PR fans/kids to move over to TF.

As for this mold, I do like it. It isn't the best Prime mold available but it isn't as bad as everybody says.

Prime: "And I'll form...The stomach!"

He does look really fat, though. I liked the Armada prime better because even though he combined with his trailer and Jetfire, he didn't look out of whack like Energon Prime.

Then again, the combined Prime looks more poseable than the Armada prime combos.

an in Armada they did a general release of the Deluxe sized prime so you can have a posable version of just the cab. Probably one of my favorite figures.

Yeah, Bendy prime is good and has seen a few repaints since. Last one was in the tail end of Cybertron. Pretty good IMO.

Energon Prime has its merits. all in all, I like the figure, and I'm glad i bought it when i did.

Hotshot wasn't all that bad. I did like the silver one better. It's a shame Universe died, I was hoping to get Hotshot as Stepper and Inferno as Artfire. How cool would those 2 looked powerlinked?

I also thought the upgraded Demolisher was awesome. His jap. name, Irontread, was more fitting though.

I agree to all those points and while we are on the Subject of "A Little Energon, Alot of love" I wanted to point out some of the high lights from that series:

Powerlinking was a great gimmick, and though we all agree there were some not so good figures and combos from the series, I'd like to take the time to point out some of the best and the brightest from that series..

One of my all time favorite combiners from the series, Super Link Bruticus Released in Japan: simply Put, a Badass!!!

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Also lets take for a moment the fact that most of the Bots had interchangeable parts with others, which made for the most interesting "Superlinked" forms!! it was fun..it is wat the series was about..combiner powers..so Prime to me just works because he was a "Superlinker" as well.. here are a few more astonishing figures from this series..

Quick Strike, was hands down just the coolest Autobot Helicopter I have ever seen.. His recoloring was amazing.. I love the red White and Blue Look on him.. it's fantastic..!!

Image
Image

His Bottom could convert into a water landing gear mode, and his backpack weaponry in bot mode..!! Awesome!!
Image
Image

Image
Image

Wow Loaded to the teeth!!!
Image
Image

Ironhide to me was more important with kicker then Hotshot.. i never liked Hotshot in Armada nor Energon, he just never did anything for me..I liked Ironhide though.. he was a cool loaded down SUV..
Image
Image
Image

Crazy combos made the series fun!!
Image
Image

Jetfire was awesome..
Image
this image is a great pose!!
Image

You gotta give it up for Down shift!!
Image
Image
Image
What a nice wheeljack homage!!
Image

Last but not least, Dreadwing!! AHHHH he for some reason reminds me of Depth charge from Beast Wars.. :???: :???: I don't know why.. but I love him..and I also love Depth charge too!!

Image
Image
Image

In summation I would say most of the bots proportions were out of whack due to their combining nature.. still There are a few more that really up the bar in the series, what I have highlighted are just the ones I have bought on ebay and researched and find very cool..

there are still a few more that I would recommend like, Scorponok, Megatron, Rodimus, and definitely command ravage.. and Shadow hawk, they look great combined.. nice in botmode too!!
What a bot!! he had soo Much..

Energon Galvatron is still one of my favorite all time TFs. Scorponok ruled. Dreadwing really suprised me. I wasn't a huge fan of the Mirage mold, but the color on Dreadwing sold that mold for me. And Wheeljack(I flat out refuse to call him anything but) was made of pure win.

Did he just express appreciation for Energon Ironhide?

C'mon, even if the toy wasn't quite so atrocious as the fandom claims it to be, there's certainly no reason for Hasbro to ever consider it a success.

Liking Ironhide is one thing. That's a matter of taste. He's a good solid toy and some people don't like the design.

But liking Energon Jetfire? Get serious. Do you own him? He's one of the worst turds in recent years. He has so many issues and problems that go beyond aesthetics (and that's not to mention the aesthetics...).

Jetfire's head is too small. For his robot mode it is out of proportion. For any combined mode he looks like a retard with his tiny head.

He's actually pretty bad in pants mode as well. The hinges on his ankles can not support combined weight at all.

He has Mickey Mouse hands, for no apparent reason.

He's bad.... :-( and I wish he weren't.

(I think of him as Scattorshot anyway. It's a better homage like that.)

Ok, I understand why you think that.. and to be honest Ironhide wasn't the best toy ever made, with his non clear windows and such.. it did feel a little basic.. but he was still a better design then Hotshot.. which makes him a better choice for a Kicker liaison, if you require such a thing..

Lets center on a few more choice toys from this series shall we...

Megatron:
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Though a Great homage to G-1 Galvatron toy, the galvatron Repaint was even more so..

Galvatron:
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Starscream:
Now he was an interesting toy, greatest articulation from the series and his weaponry was fantastic!!
Image
Image
Image

Though I much Prefer the G-1 Repaint..
Image
Image
Image
Image

My only gripe is that he should have been released as a Voyager, this mold was great but very lacking in size, I suppose its due to Megatron being the central focal point of the series..

Image

Command Ravage:
A Nice Redeco of Ravage and a great figure all around...
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Shadow Hawk is such a great figure and partnered up with Command Ravage really makes him shine.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

IDW should really have a short comic with these 2 guys on a mission, they just look great together!!!
Image
Image

Which brings Us to our Next Toy...Scorponok!!!
Image
Image

A triple changer and all around awesome toy!!! Love the botmode and even the paint applications came out nice on him..
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Arcee, now that was a nice addition to the series and really brings the whole G-1 rehash into perspective, not to mention Unicron!! But, setting aside the animosity I carried for the G-1 rehash thing, I gotta say, this toy is very nice..

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

They even had a Quintesson!!
Image
Image
Image
Image

WingSaber:

Though not very articulated, and disappointing in that respect, he was a nice figure regardless, and His combiner ability with Prime demanded his addition to this thread..
Image
Image

Rodimus, though a nice truck and an awesome character in the TV series of Energon, this toy personifies the struggles and problems with most of the characters designs. The lack of articulation and out of proportions were due to the combiner natures of each figure..though as awful as it was, EDIT!!!

I just couldn't reread through here anymore with Rodimus pictured he's still not a nice figure.. sorry guys but he just looks silly with those hugeass legs and smaller upper body, no articulation in the legs... ohhhhh Mann!!!! I was spoiled by the classics Hot Rodimus...

Unicron!!!
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Though overall, Energon was a Combiner series that still had some Minicon attributes from the Armada Series, it is really a nice Middle section in this trilogy and gave us the most homages to Generation one by focusing on characters like Megatron, Starscream, Arcee, and Alpha-Q..It really was a good homage to Generation One, and I have since Changed my view on it being just a rehash..
