"You might NOT be a True Transformers Fan...if..."

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

That one's a twofer: G1, despite what an uninformed few think, G1 was neither Japanese-made nor was it anime. And Transformers anime doesn't exactly have a good track record.

I know. That's what's so weird about people ranting about it. Some guy told me the movies and TF Prime aren't real Transformers because they aren't anime. And he told me the faction symbols in the movieverse were modified to signify that "they aren't real Transformers". Then he went on to tell me Transformers was always supposed to be anime, and not anything else, so anything "Transformers" that isn't anime "isn't real Transformers". This guy was serious too, and he acted so angry with me for calling the movieverse a part of the Transformers brand. Then I thought..."Wait...I thought G1 wasn't anime. So G1 isn't actually Transformers? But he just told me G1 was the "truest" continuity of TF..."
People nowadays...

Oh and you might not be a true Transformers Fan if:

you think Ralph Macchio is the actor who played Daniel in the original Karate Kid.

you hear someone talking about Leonard Nimoy and assume they are talking about Star Trek.

He was, actually. Not sure how that applies to Transformers outside of the name "Daniel."

froneyzone wrote:you hear someone talking about Leonard Nimoy and assume they are talking about Star Trek.

In the defense of sanity, that's because they typically are. "They're talking about his major role in Star Trek, one of the two largest and most influential science-fiction franchises in the world" or "they're talking about his one-time stint as Galvatron, in a movie that is fairly obscure outside of out little niche" which do you think is the safer bet?

(And before you go assuming things, the other franchise is Star Wars)

Shadowman...you just proved how young and naive you are for one, (look up Ralph Macchio the editor and writer of Marvel) and second, yes, you are correct about Star Trek and Star Wars, but you just proved you have no since of humor either. This post is for Transformers fans...and if you are...you have watched or even at least HEARD about the original cartoon movie featuring Nimoy's voice among many others. "til all are one!"

Huh, so it would seem. Really obscure reference. I was never much of a comic, reader, though. Not sure what that has to do with naivety.

If it were funny, I'd have laughed. I watched the '86 movie. Doesn't mean I know him better as Galvatron than as Spock. That would actually fit better as "You might be an insane Transformers fan."

Shadowman, right on both counts!

Froneyzone, although I know Nimoy voiced Galvatron in the movie I watched in the theater when I was a kid, my first thoughts of a conversation about him is Star Trek or Jewish heritage, in particular his work to educate about the Holocaust and honor the memories of those who were murdered.

I'm not seeing any humor in the bulk of your posts, sarcasm or otherwise. You can write what you want, but you should know your insults are annoying me to the point where I'm starting to think of you as "the boy who cried wolf!" You are taking yourself and Transformers way too seriously. :BANG_HEAD:

Then like I've told the other forum members in other forums - start a post about how annoying I am. Otherwise, have some decency for the other members who are having fun with this post. Oh and I beg to differ about the obscure reference about Ralph - it's in print right there in The Ultimate Guide to Transformers by Simon Furman.

So one could say; You might not be a True Transformers Fan if:

You never read The Ultimate Guide to Transformers.

You think Rad is just a slang term for Awesome.

The thing that really boggles my mind is that you're a tad older than me and yet...

You're like the Kathy Griffin of Transformer message boards. I don't know why that didn't occur to me sooner. #-o

And I was one of those "members who are having fun with this post," well, thread, a post is part of a thread, but that's neither here nor there, anyway, I was having fun but the negativity you share kills it. It's like dark energon.

1. A search of the words "Ralph Macchio" produces almost only results for the actor, who people actually KNOW.

2. Most of my friends are comic collectors and outside of Rob Leifield, they can't name anyone who works on the comics they read, much less the editor.

Sorry, but Shadowman is neither young nor naive for being 100% correct.

You're like the Kathy Griffin of Transformer message boards.

Back in ancient times, I'd read the Marvel comic and giggle about Ralph Macchio...I know it wasn't really the Karate Kid, but some of us paid attention who was putting out the comic. Jus sayin'. It is an obscure fact and some of us old farts know it.

Now, back to having some fun on this thread!

Like everyone actually read that thing? There's more updated info on the internet.

I'm not sure if you're still being serious or not, so I'm sorry if I have no sense of humor.

Ok, seriously? Do I really need to read this damn thing to validate my fanism? It's a BOOK for Primus' sake! It's been outdated for a while. Again, the real ultimate guide can be found across the Internet that has a myriad of information about TF that expands every day. I think I'll spend my dough on the figures instead of a book that has stuff I can find for free.

guys (and gals) - history is history (unless it was fabricated in some way). In this case: Ralph Macchio is the one of the writers who helped put together the very first Transformers comic book.
It's like, knowing where the Transformers brand originated from in the first place, - the Microman and Diaclone series from Takara.

Anyway, back to having some fun:

You might NOT be a True Transformers Fan...if:

You think Takara is a Japanese made car.

You think G1 is the first prototype for the G6.

You think the Motorcycle Drone is from Terminator Salvation.
