Anyone having trouble playing HMW using Firefox
Ok, so I've already posted this in the actual GD forum because Firefox keeps encountering errors and having to close when I visit Seibs and got a couple of suggestions for solutions which I tried out. It started happening on Sunday but I thought it was a one off, so dismissed it - however it has become a regular occurrence and is irritating me to no end
Upon further investigation I've discovered that it only crashes when I try to play HMW. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm using the latest version of firefox, have cleared everything out of the cache/cookies/etc but am still having this problem.

My only problem with Firefox is the health bars for my bots don't display.
For me, HMW on Firefox runs as fast as a Decepticon led by Starscream.

Quoted again for emphasis... The only issue I've noticed are the lack of health bars in my registry.

I blame the current version of FF, which simply isnt as well done as previous versions (at least it dosnt work as well on Vista compaired to the previous one).

My Firefox problem is limited to the countdown timers when in a mission. They don't tick by second by second, they jerk, and stop and speed up, and tick off seconds in groups.

Other than the health bars, Firefox actually runs seibs and HMW faster than my copy of IE. I'm running windows XP.

The health bars, alt-mode colors on the color picker, performance summary bars, and upgrade bar all no not show on firefox.
[I'm running the latest version, and on both Ubuntu and Windows XP I have the same problem] But firefox still runs the site WAY faster than IE explorer.

No problems with HMW on Firefox in particular, but there is a problem with the site in general. It's not limited to Seibertron though, but a few other sites as well.
Firefox just doesn't scroll the pages smoothly, it's sluggish and takes an age to reach the bottom of a page. But trying it in IE or Konqueror the page scrolls as smoothly as can be, so what's going on with Firefox? I don't particularly want to switch to a new browser.

Re: Anyone having trouble playing HMW using Firefox
ditto on the health bars.
they work in IE/opera/chrome
neither of those browsers has adblocks (only artificial substitutions) so that's a no-go.
if your firefox is scrolling slow, try to update your video driver or set the scroll rate of your logitech mouse lower (down to 3 lines or per page instead of 7/9 lines)
and still.. i think it's retarded that the forum is only 600 pixels wide and doesn't auto adjust size to the actual screen width.. are the admins too lazy to enable this option in the admin panel?
FIX THE COLORS ALREADY!

If it were as simple as changing my video card driver or changing a scroll rate it would be done already. There is something in the way that Firefox is rendering pages that is causing this. Since it works perfectly in both Konqueror and IE, Firefox has no excuse.

I've had issues where firefox lags when I scroll, but I was able to fix that under the options (mess around with Advanced > General > Browsing > auto scrolling/smooth scrolling). I actually think smooth scrolling isn't very smooth at times.
AS for the health bar issues, I have no idea. I noticed it works in every browser except for fire fox. Colors and other things just don't work in general right now, in any browser.
As for HMW crashing fire fox, that's just weird.

Smooth scrolling only makes it slower. Very smooth though.

Ditto on the health bars and jerky timers, but other than that, I'm okay.
Well, every so often the site will ask me to log in again even though I clicked the Keep Me Logged In checkbox, but that's not an HMW problem. Still... don't know why.

Sorry I should have clarified, I stopped lagging once I turned off smooth scrolling.

I've found that having java turned off makes the game seem slightly faster...

General problems I have with firefox:
No health bars.
To many tabs/windows=browser lag and the counter will start skipping
Occasionally the site gets locked into a loading phase, where everything just continues to load even after everything has loaded.
There seem to be a random limit on page views before the browser locks up and wont load anything, requiring a reboot of my computer. Though that may be caused by all the image rotators, since I know from past experience that to many will cause a system lockup.

The newer Firefox is notoriously bad on system resources as well; opening many tabs to review missions over a few hours will have it eating 350 - 400 MB of memory easily.
I feel dirty using IE 7 to do anything... but it's a faster / better option for my HMW use at the moment.

Having too many tabs/windows causing lag is not really the site, its your computer and internet connection. I can load 30+ websites faster on my mac pro firefox on fios than I can on my hp laptop firefox on comcast. When the site bottlenecks, like it did a while ago and I couldn't get onto the forums, thats the website/server.
I do have those problems with firefox. Maybe we should all go back to an older version of it.

Yea, I feel ya. My IE7 crashes so many times every day I lost track. I tried to upgrade to IE8 Beta 2 today...that lasted about 30 min before I downgraded again, lol....

If you are having problems with FireFox, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Otherwise, you might want to try upgrading or uninstalling/reinstalling your Java on your computer.
