Why can't people ever just let go? I mean Transtech had it's shot and missed the boat. It ain't gettin' made, and we ended up getting items that were far better than any of these...abominations... could've given us.
I just don't get it. I really don't.
These posts are like the internet equivalent of holding your breath 'til you get what you want. Problem is, you'd be long past blue and dead from holding your breath this long.
It's over, finished, done.
No Transtech.
...let it die.
Man, were they some ugly mothers...
I agree Autobot032, but some of the designs were intriguing (sp?) while still harking back to who the charachter in question is...i think that is why many, including myself are fascinated with this train the left the station so long ago.
Oh yeah, and I am not wishing that TransTech gets made or anything, I am just interested. It is kind of nice to imagine what might have been.
Like right now, I am wondering what "might have been" if Takara actually got off their collective @$$e$ and did a proper re-issue of Shockwave instead of me having to track one down on ePay, only to find the best example left has a frayed rubber hose/wire assembly, missing battery cover, cracking, fading, etc...all for over $100 before shipping.
Daydreaming happens.
Surely you understand that?
Oh I understand daydreaming just fine. My problem is, a good portion of these daydreamers still believe that the chance of these getting made is a scant possibility. And it isn't.
Hasbro and Takara/Tomy went in a totally different direction once they went with RiD, and then Armada, etc. Transtech was nullified and died on the table right there. No amount of CPR could bring this back from the dead. It's done, it's over.
People are not willing to let it stay dead. That's my problem with this.
Sometimes you just have to realize you've lost the war and move on. Some battles might be won, but if the war is lost...well then, just give it up. Seriously.
The same with G1 fans. You love it, you like it, whatever, that's fine...but it's time to realize that Bay's movie is *NOT* G1, these are not G1 designs, etc.
It's time to call off the crusade and deal with reality.
It's just sad to see grown adults sit here and cry over what they couldn't have, and they don't seem to grasp that it's really over. No matter what they do, no amount of "I wish" will bring it to fruition.
"Wishing something, doesn't make it so." Damn right.
BTW...Takara can't do a reissue of Deluxe Insecticons, Jetfire, Omega Supreme, Roadbuster, Shockwave, Skylynx, Whirl, etc because those molds were all owned by a different company, which is now defunct and all of the rights have gone the way of the Dodo.
Jetfire however is still viable to be made, but only by Bandai. They always owned the rights, and still do. Copyright laws have changed and Takara can no longer get their mitts on Jetfire's mold to create a reissue. (IIRC...Jetfire was an American only G1 figure. It was never made as a TF in Japan...) The closest you can get is to frankenstein two of Bandai's valk molds, do a little repainting, Reprolabels, etc. That's about all you can do to make a reissue Jetfire.

I can't see this line being any better than Beast Machines honestly. And I'm sure if they ended up making it, all this knob-slobbing will be replaced by a hefty dose of nerd rage.
The later Beast Machines weren't all that bad. Neither were about half of the earlier ones. The biggest problems the line had when it came to sales were the bizarre scaling, the crappy little sub-line that got repainted even while the originals sat on the shelves, and the lack of accuracy to the cartoon that the smaller figures had. If they hadn't screwed-around and tampered with the line to cater to play-testing data (which lead them to believe ginormous Cheetors and Nightscreams and Deployers would be good ideas) it might not have been killed prematurely.
The vast majority of Beast Machines figures are bizarre and poopy, but there are a few really good ones. Transtech seems much the same.
No air attack Optimus Primal?
You are so mean.
Now that figure is a piece of crap! What the hell were they thinking?!
Actually anything over Leader class scale,is definitely too much!! Unless its a masterpiece.. but for a mass market sale, you can get more mileage out of a Leader class, or Voyager class then you can out of Ultra class or higher...Plus more shelf space!!!!
Um, I meant it was an ugly piece of plastic monkey poo. Also, what was up with Optimus Minor? The hits just kept coming with Beast Machines, eh?
Yeah, I want a 20" long Cheetor!!!

I hear you man, I know where you are coming from.
SkyLynx, which I owned a month or so ago, before I sold it to a cool dude on this site, was made by ToyBox, as was Omega Supreme. Shockwave, god help my finances, was made in KOREA, by a company under the name of ToyCo, so my only option is the REAL, original thing, from either the TF line, or one of the 80's KOs.
And I have the Bandai 1/55 VF-1S Super Valk/aka Jetfire reissue (1983/4 origin) of which you speak.
BEST. VALK. EVER.
Just let people dream man.
It is a nice escape.
One last thing: Even with the reboot of this film, G1 will never die. The fanbase will always exist, so long as TransFans themselves still exist. New G1 fans are made every day, as are fans of the newer series/lines.
Hell, look at freaking Star Wars, still selling Luke Skywalker figures after 30 years.
I won't even go into all the younger people who prefer Kirk to Archer.
Just a few thoughts of mine.

I agree with all the points that are being brought up... but what you fail to realize is i didn't start this thread as a they should make Transtech a reality.. it was purely a discussion of wether or not the Transtech theory and design asthetics could have actually survived and taken off in the toy market based on the direction and popularity of the "new movie designs" or " Bayformers" as the term has been so eliquently coined...
Though not fond of all the designs I have seen i gotta say that the more mecha Anime stuff I like very much.. and the ones i would love to get KO molds of are..
Optimus Prime, Starscream, Cheetor, and Shockwave.. that guy in asia that did the kitbashes of Optimus prime from hearts of Steel would be a nice option or that guy that did the wheelie kits as well.. but the only reason i shy away from those kits is the fact they are only made in resin..I so wish they could be released in plastic.. resin is soooo breakable.. easy to form and mold, but very brittle and breakable.. one wrong move and a high end kitbash is toast and money down the drain...
I have no doubt this line is dead and gone.. but I swear if they ever decide to do any of these figures or use the molds that have already been produced...
I'm Buying it!!!
voice of hoist wrote:I had no idea these designs existed before reading this thread. The chunkier vehicles (especially that superb looking prime) really appeal to me. The spindlier jets etc I can imagine having the same aesthetic and handling problems as some beast machines toys.
Overall, I think it would be great to have a line like this. After alternators and the movie toys I think I'm going to be over super-realistic alt modes for a while. I tend to think 'Wow that looks like a real car/tank/plane etc' once but after that the only real interest is in the robot mode. As long as your imagination stretches to these designs belonging on other planets or way, way in the future, alt modes like these can double the enjoyment of a tf.

Far better? Abominations? BAH.
They're like, all-Japanesed up, but somehow avoid looking like Gundam clones.
There's also been a heaving assload of turd figures too that have been made instead of them.
The beauty of Transtech's mere nature is that the thought that went into their designs would likely have reduced the amount of **** figures.
I will say though, Optimus is the worst Transtech in all these pics... the elbows are utterly ridiculous.
(And if there's anything I've learned from owning Gerwalk Ishkick figures from the anime 'Orguss', the joints probably would have broken just as fast).

It doesn't. It flops all over the damned place. That's why mine's packed away. I bought it on clearance for $5, and I still think I paid to much.

Junk junkity junkjunkjunk.
The sculpt was pretty bad too, me only buying it because I'd not seen a large Transformer in a looong time.
Now these Transtechs... what a missed opportunity for awesomeness...

Not sure where I keep finding them, but I am always scanning blogs and other sites for images to collect and such for an art project I'm working on, then sometimes I keep coming across Transtech images, and I think, hells yeah!!! time to save that one!! It's nice to show you guys stuff that is obscure and cool at the same time..whether you love or hate Transtech, it was almost a toyline, so it deserves some respect..
