Read the first half of the sentence:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

If you read the quote properly, it's two separate ideas that shall not be infringed. Also, if you're going to quote, quote the whole thing so that context can be shown.

Let's not let this degrade into any further gun control laws...this was a thread about the plug.

I just got an e-mail from BBTS yesterday & thry said MP Megs & Revoltech Convoy shipped. They should be here Thursday or Friday. I'll see how hard the cap is to get out, if I can get it out at all..................I'm just hoping that it isn't really permanent, then I'll have to start worrying about whether or not the silencer from Justitoys will fit..........................

The plug goes into the shaft of the barrel, and covers only the opening. It won't hinder the connection of the silencer at all.

Unless the silencer fits into the barrel.

Weapon: Fusion Cannon
Just removed my plug.

Took all of 20 seconds. (after I transformed Megs into gun mode)

Hold barrel, grab plug with pliers (not from top, but from side) and twist while pulling. Popped right out. Didn't even need to pry. There is some glue residue, but not noticeable.

I doubt it would. Looks like all they're doing is upsizing the Hasbro/Takara original. It fit over the barrel, not in it.

I doubt they'd do too much extensive rework when it's easier just to cast an enlarged mold of the original.

plugs

Postby Autobot Skids » Wed Apr 18, 2007 4:03 am

Well - good to hear that the plug can be removed.

---MINOR OFF-TOPIC RE: VT/NRA-----
As for the NRA bashing - this is my opinions:

1. The right to bear arms is a constitutional right, but more importantly it is one of the fundamental natural rights of all people, and those are precisely the rights that the constitution was set up to guarantee and protect from the government.

2. Statistics show a vast amount of potential crime that was mitigated by people who defended themselves with a gun - often without firing a shot, but just by having a weapon to dissuade a criminal from proceeding.

3. In 2006, there was a bill in the Virginia legislature that would have made carrying concealed guns legal on college campuses. That bill was struck down in subcomitte. IF THAT BILL HAD PASSED...

4. Then the massacre would very likely NOT have happened - as was the case at Appalachian Law School in Virginia, where a potential massacre was stopped when students resisted and one guy got his gun from his car to help students resist.

5. Blaming the NRA is stereotyping. You might as well blame bar owners for alcoholism, video game arcades for breeding violence amongst young people etc etc etc. The NRA does not exist to promote massacring people; it's a club for gun owners and people who think the second amendment is important.

In my view; these kind of massacres show why gun laws are too restrictive, not the other way around.

That sounds good. I take it the residue is inside the barrel and is not noticible from the outside?

Hardly. Classrooms are no places for firearms.

With such a dense arrangement of students (or, such an arrangement of dense students, as many an instructor will say), any missed shot would have a high chance of inflicting a casualty upon an innocent. With no way of determining the marksmanship of the average student, this could quickly turn classrooms into bloodbaths.

In addition, firearms in residence halls is quite possibly the worst thing one could possibly do to them.

Just got home and discovered that my Megs from BBTS arrived!

The toy is pretty awesome. BBTS (re)packaged the figure well considering it was modded (you can tell they opened the box from the bottom which had an extra piece of tape).

Alrighty, now for the big concern... The orange safety tip is glued and, at first, it seems pretty darn secure- but far from "permanent." It is pretty easy to remove, just takes some care. I took some needle-nose pliers and was able to loosen and pull the plug a little to make small gap between the end of the barrel and the plug. I then took a flathead screwdriver, slide it into the gap, and pried out the plug. Worked pretty well.

Not too risky, but it does take some force to get that plug out. If you're careful enough you won't damage the toy at all. There will be some glue residue in the barrel- I have not tried removing it since you cannot see it unless you shine light right into the barrel- but I would think its possible using a q-tip and some Goo Gone and/or maybe trying scraping it off if you really wanted no sign of the glue. As they stated on the BBTS site, the glue is only added at the bottom of the plug and seemed like a minimal amount.

If you plan on trying to remove the plug yourself, I just recommend transforming the figure into gun form first and, of course, just be really careful loosening the plug before prying it out. If the plug is too stubborn and seems like there was a lot of glue used, might be better to just drill as much of the plug out and/or do some touch-up paint.

Hope this helps!

You're my hero! I finally know the answer to one of life's burning questions!

Doesn't sound all that bad. Think I'll be getting one soon. If nothing else, it sounds like a fun little project. I dub it, "Operation: Unplug Megatron."

BBTS shipped mine today :D and I will have it next Tuesday. Now I just need a confirmation on my Robotkingdom one and MP-04 at TFsource, which I am surprised is taking long with shipping a Masterpiece that has been out for a while ><

I was going to order one of these from BBTS, but I went with a seller on ebay instead who stated theirs were unmodified.

The reissue Megatron on BBTS turns me away, because it looks like a hassle to open that nice box to put that cap on, which looks like it won't be to fit back into the plastic mold. I'm gonna wait for the new Encore Megatron, it will probably be cheaper too.

I've got a set preordered as a precaution, but wouldn't they cap that one too?

sounds like more of a cap, than a plug, and either way it would detract from the toy by having the chamber blocked, not allowing it to shoot the pellets, or if its around the outside of the barrel, the silencer wouldnt fit. Its a lose lose situation, and all bbts is doing with this is ruining a group of a very desirable reissue, by adding a plug/cap. Congratulations bbts, you have limited the actual number of reissue megs, by ruining an entire batch of them.

edit: looks like there is a pic, and thats just great, the damn plug makes 2 features useless! congratulations bbts, you have successfully annoyed me alot more with this hypocrisy. (Not wanting to carry any transformers that resembled real guns, and yet turning around and going, okay we want to sell them because they are desirable. However, lets not put ourselves in a sticky spot, by capping the figure, and at the same time make it almost undesirable.)

on the bbts page there is an edit for that meg's reissue that says it will make the silencer unable to attach to the barrel. worthless, and gaudy. i think i'll wait for this "encore" before making that step personally, especially if it is a us release, i have seen no cap on any pictures..

I wouldn't buy it at BBTS, I would go with TFsource or Hobbylink Japan, if they get Encore because they just plugged a cap that was not glued in and you cna pull it out when you get it.

Alright I am going to stick with my original plan and just get my MP-05 Megatron from BBTS and keep with the loyalty. It doesnt sound like a problem at all to get it out. I just have to wait a bit more to get a few extra $$$ to get him.

I just received my MP Megatron I was careful on taking out of its plastic molded casing

I got it from bbts.com

I took pliers to the orange plug I held the barrel and then started to twist the plug slowly until I saw it moved.I then not only was twisting it but I lifted it out of the barrel

So the glue thats in the barrel isn't so strong
