For pete's sake it's a family show...VestigialHeart wrote:I was watching an episode of Beast Wars a while back and thought to myself "how awesome would it be with gore in it?"
I mean the characters have skin, fur and feathers; they're exterior beast form shells contain some type of tissue. I always imagined the transformation process being a bit painful for the preds and maximals. I don't mean blood and guts flying everywhere, but rather a bit more painful of a transformation with the tissues tearing apart and refusing together. Think Wolverine when he uses his claws how the flesh rips apart and then heals back over when he sheathes his claws. I'm not sure if there's already been any fan pics of it, but i thought it would look awesome seeing Optimus Primal litterally RIPPING out of beast mode into robot mode. It would be MUCH more vicious and a HELL of a lot more intimidating.
I understand that it would too gory for kids, but as an adult i can't help but envision a more realistic, darker version of the continuity. I mean, it's war; war is never pretty nor is it child friendly.
What do you think? Cool idea or ravings of a madman?

You see, there would be this mat, with different 'conclusions' that you could jump to....
and it would be a better idea than gore in Beast Wars.

VestigialHeart wrote:I grew up watching G1 and Beast Wars. I know what the shows are about. I distinctly said "as an adult". I never meant that they should make a TV show or movie of it. I mean, we're not a bunch of children here are we? I kinda thought maybe for a moment we were adults who found something a little bit more than just a 'kid's show' in the Transformers continuities. I also said "I don't mean blood and guts flying everywhere." I just thought it would be awesome to have a more grizzly realism to the characters. One of the biggest, most influential concepts in Beast Wars and Beast Machines to me was the border between organic and technological and it was more than just the G1 emotional attachment b.s.. Even Dinobot, by far the most ruthless of the Maximals, found solace in preserving organic life. One of the other interesting elements was how the characters acted similair to their beast modes and I think that with a bit darker and slightly more gorey of a theme that the ferocity of some of the characters would truly come out in combat.
Jesus Christ, did I post on the MPAA website by accident? I didn't think that a mature themed continuity would be so controversial. Look at the movie that just came out! Its 'mature' theme is what sparked so much debate all over the boards! You see transformers getting ripped to pieces! Why is it all the sudden so taboo to propose the idea of an even more mature themed Beast Wars?
I can't believe that so much of the fandom is in agreement that Transformers is 'just a kid's show'. It's pathetic and truly a let down for me, somebody who has divulged so much energy to the franchise. Or maybe I'm just one of the few here who, instead of feeding an inner child, actually GREW UP watching the show and didn't stay prepubescent.
That is true. Beast Wars, along with G1, was mainly targeted at children as their main audience. Gore in Beast Wars would possibly and probably be edited out anyway.Damolisher wrote:Yeah, well we dont' take it ridiculously seriously. Who is Transformers marketted to? Survey says.... KIDS!
VestigialHeart wrote:You would think that with a motto like "Rules and Chassis are meant to be broken" that you would NOT want to file in line with the status quo.
That's beside the point, though. What the hell? I NEVER said that this idea should come into existance. I NEVER complained about anything at all. I NEVER condemned ANYTHING and I never said that Transformers is stupid because it's geared towards a younger audience. It's ridiculous how touchy and defensive you are.
I think that toys are important for a growing child's development because it allows them to use their imagination. Toys allow more room for imagination than most videogames and most other mediums. Kids don't buy toys ONLY to re-inact scenes from the cartoons and movies. They buy them and add a bit of themselves to the mix as they create their own personalities and situations. This is exactly what I'm doing now! I'm doing what you're trying to defend!
If you really aren't interested in new ideas and opinions then why do you even post on forums? Is a forum not supposed to be somewhere for people to discuss ideas and opinions? If all you're interested in is adhering to popular demand and the herd instinct then what are you here for? To just look at news and respond with simple acknowledgements without any input? Surely that's not the case as you have poured MORE than your fair share of opinion into flaming me. And I'd be hard pressed to believe that YOU represent the sole opinion of the entire fandom.
