BW Ascending #2 (discuss!)

Postby Briggs » Wed Oct 17, 2007 5:42 pm

Oh my god, now that was action packed! Pretty enjoyable issue.

Nice to see "The Pack" come out fighting.

I do hope Big Convoy does some butt kicking next issue, I'd love to see his action scenes.

One thing still bugging me are these human expressions they are using. I mean I guess they could have absorbed all these things things from all those years hanging out with humans (if G1 still happend in this continuity, whcih I am assuming did)

I'm not to familiar with the japanese characters, but off the top of my head..

Lio Convoy
Break? (Penguin)
Longrack
Apache
Stampy (Reminds me of Rattrap)
Mach Kick
Tasmania Kid (mentioned, and I think I saw him. Kinda weird to have him and Snarl?)

Big Convoy
Some other bots around Big Convoy

Ironhide
Prowl
Silverbolt

3 Preds on cybertron.. the ones that were featured near the end of issue 1, dont know their names

All the regulars of course, a "different" Razorbeast (I be hush hush about that!)

Grimlock doing something more then talking too.

Please answer me one question: how big is Grimlock's part in this issue?

He has between three to five pages of art (not sure if he's in the background for more) and two different scenes he appears in. Not a huge part, but Grims doing his thing nonetheless.

Small. He's still stupid and hairy looking.

At any rate...

Great issue. Definately gives me hope for the rest of the series.

Representing the comedy of Neo was a slick move too.

Shokaract, Dramtron... I'll tell you when I get home.

It was good. I was actually quite excited to see it. This list will be hugely long however, because there are quite a few battle scene pages.

Whoever gets them all should get a cookie, because there are a lot.

Much better than issue #1. Much more action, and Big Convoy being defiant to the government. Reminds me a bit of Sentinel Prime from the Megatron Origins...no political mumbo jumbo, just let me do my job, please.

Great issue, however I'm reaaaaally wondering how they're going to conclude this in just two more issues...
Do we think maybe cliffhanger ending, with Unicron, Shokorat(sp) or both coming to power?

I think I'll be sad if this is the end for BW, lots of good things about it so perhaps they will keep it going.

Of course it'll keep going, it's the current version of G1, it's an unfinished story. It'll be a while before they cancel BW...

Picked it up on the way home today, and I gotta agree. Things have definitely improved since the last issue.

Then again, knowing where it's going, combined with that last page, doesn't really give me a good feeling.

Oh, and it looks like we have our confirmation-that-isn't-exactly-confirmation that the Magnaboss trio of Prowl, Ironhide and Silverbolt are not only the original G1 characters, but the Council of Elders and head of the Maximal faction.

I still hate that idea.

I likes it too, k9inda makes sense that a revived Prowl and Ironhide lead the Autobots, Silverbolt I'm iffy on, but whatever.

Still have to read it sometime this weekend.

And shouldn't Grimlock be drawn with feathers now, since there's proof that smaller Raptors had feathers? :P

I thought Prowl the owl version was the original Prowl reincarnated. How confusing to have bots with the same name flying around. Prowl and Silverbolt both being culprits in this.

When they were toys, I assumed there were upgrades versus original BW forms, something like that. I'm not sure what is going on here. But it's BW so I generally know squat about it.

Is Magnaboss Prowl still uptight?

I would've preferred owl Prowl to have been G1 Prowl but hey-ho.

No more so then seeing Apache and B'Boom fighting next to eachother. Or the other few Japanese and American BW character that are just repaints of eachother.

This is what the IDW writers said on the message board about a year ago. Did it ever change?

With nearly all the G1 namesakes being the originals, save those that have two with the same name, I'm a little confused.

1st: How is Ironhide still up and about if he's nearly as old as Kup?

2nd: If they are both former cassettecons, how is lazerbeak a flying lizard and buzzsaw a killer bee?

3rd: If the owl's name is prowl, and mangoboss's eagle is prowl, is there a skywarp in BW?

4th: I'm fine with repaints, and homages, but with this many G1s in BW, how are records/events of the war considered a secrete?

:BANG_HEAD: please make the hurting stop...

Thanks to anyone who can feild these questions :HALUC:

The eagle is SILVERBOLT.

1: Transformers are robots, they CANNOT DIE OF OLD AGE!

2: THEY ARE NOT THE ORIGINALS! They just share the name, G1 Lazerbeak & G1 Buzzsaw died (supposedly) in the Axazon & Chromia V Pred ship fight. (Dawn of futures past)

3: As said before, PROWL IS THE LION, SILVERBOLT IS THE EAGLE! Who cares about Skywarp, he died in G1, turned into Cyclonus or Scourge, or whoever....

4: I'm too tired to bother with this questions... I'll let someone else who's a little less drunk sort this one out....

1. Alpha Trion is still alive, and he's older. Vector Prime older still.

2. They are NOT the Cassetteacons. They are new characters who are homages to the original.

3. Magnaboss's LION is Prowl, and it seems more than one guy can share a name. This has been going around since back in generation 1 in 1990, where we have a Micromaster Sky High and a Pretender Sky High who are different guys who share a common name. As for Beast Wars Skywarp, there is Maximal named Skywarp there too, and he's not the original Skywarp.

4. Since when are they secret?

At least for now. Come the release of the Sourcebook issue in which he is supposed to be featured, that could change.
