Apparently my review of Cybertron Soundwave choked a certain user into sending me an abusive e-mail (Thats two now).

I'll just show you the e-mail because I like doing that..

ANYWAY, I'm just wanting to verify that Laserbeak's a bomb. Is this only in Cybertron? Or Galaxy Force too? Or... what?

As far as I can tell Cybertron Laserbeak is a bomb, and having let my sister and some of my friends Transform him (or should I say Mis-Transform him) I can say that he doesn't transform into anything else that could resemble anything.

Looks like a bomb to me. As are his guns when he's in his stealth mode. PM coming Meverix.

I really see his alt as being a simple storage mode. He actually reminds me of one of those cargo containers in Star Trek TNG. It doesn't make any sense that 'Beak would change into a self destructing bomb.

Actually, he and I argued for some time, and along the way he called me a few other things. So I kindly directed him to an image of Soundwave's box, showing the text 'Bomb converts to Laserbeak Minicon!'... He's gone pretty quiet since.

He made the following point. I don't see how it was supposed to win the argument, but, eh, see if you can make sense of it

Perhaps the writer has deep romantic feelings for Laserbeak and hates the idea of it destructing as a bomb. Don't take his comments personally. Some people like to blow off steam, others like to build it up.

I always saw SW's accessories as excess cargo.

In my own review of Killer Condor (Laserbeak's Japanese name) here at this site, I called his alt a "turbine of inderterminate origins." I did mention that some fans have referred to it as either a jet turbine and a bomb, but it's my personal opinion that both are a bit of a stretch.

Ultimately, it depends one the individual's own views.

Da, but since he can mount under the wing where he can, I always thought he was supposed to look like a jet turbine. The problem there being that there's only one of him and the turbine has two intakes but no outputs.

Yes, but Soundwave already HAS two weapons that fit under his wings, Laserbeak is supposed to go into his chest cavity... So, while the weapons might be thrusters (as they would return to their original positions on his wings), I don't see Laserbeak performing any useful task INSIDE SW's chest...

I'll go with Soundwave's box and agree that Laserbeak's a bomb...

Personally I think those are for Laserbeak's personal use. He doesn't flat those wings so much as uses the turbines.. I mean there's too, and theyre at even distance. they'd help him hover.

Surely if the Cybertron box says he's a bomb then in Cybertron he's a bomb. If you reviewed Cybertron Soundwave then Galaxy Force Soundwave (or whatever he's called) is irrelevant.

Not that I'm saying Hasbro are always on the nose with these things...

Oh, of course, but a lot of TFs get dual-use out of their components. Any way, if Laserbeak is canonically a "bomb" then I don't see much debate there. Sure he wouldn't detonate, but I could see other ways his bomb mode could be used...

guess this is were ill point out something from the cartoon. there were hundreds of thousands of soundwaves on planet x, as seen in the flashback, and when they opened a hole to planet x, hundreds of lazerbeaks came out and attacked them, and they proved to be quite explosive.

cybertron/gf lazerbeak is realy just a drone, so it wouldnt be surprising if he was made to self destruct on command, like a bomb.

Kinda like the TERRORCONS are sentient drones that can self destruct on a target. I actually see those turbines on him in BOMB mode as being like thrusters to get the bomb to the target faster and more accurately.

I think I've said this before but, I see Laserbeak's form as a diversion.

Think about it if Soundwave has been flying over Autobots dropping bombs, whenever the Bots see the next batch coming they'll dive for cover and the Laserbeak "bomb" could transform mid-descent and either attack the Bots while their distracted or fly off to spy on whatever they might be protecting or gaurding or whatever.

Soundwave: Time to drop the bizzomb on you dawgs. *launches laserbeak from chest, pelts Prime in the head*

Prime: Owww...that hurt damn it. LEOBREAKER!!!

Leobreaker: Yeah yeah...

Soundwave: Aww man..I ain't gonna end up on your top 10 beats list. *picks up Laserbeak and runs away.*

I sorta had a very different idea for cybertron soundwave, its sorta fanish and not based on anything.....


I recon sound wave was a cybertron book mobile-like a moving data sortage libary!!! And the guns and beak are data storage moduals. it fits the personas and their g1 alt modes (if u consider the cybertron version being sorta like war within)

I could have swore that the GF version said he was an engine or something to that effect. I'm trying to look up where I had seen this, of course I could be dreaming.

As for the bomb thing in Cybertron here's your proof.

I always thought he was an engine component, but the point that he is dropped from Soundwave makes me think.

Rather than a bomb in the traditional, explody sense; he's more of an UAV that is dropped into a militant target zone, then transforms in midair or on the ground, to do recon.

I'm not sure what that's called, but it makes more sense than a KABLOOY! bomb.

btw Down_Shift: packaging rarely prooves anything.
