Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.
Dead Metal wrote:Yea, I would say pass on this, you'll never get the mould out of the plastic without doing serious damage. If you buy it and put it in your home, no matter how much you clean it, that thing will very likely infect your home and the rest of your collection with mould.
If you simply want it as a restoration project, just go and search e-bay.

What makes you say that? You certainly can kill and clean the mold from any toy. It isn't cosmic rust for crying out loud. It's just mold. On plastic. That can be easily cleaned. You ever have moldy food in a plastic container in your fridge? That stuff cleans out just fine. If you're paranoid, by all means wash it twice. It'll come clean though. The worst part of this would probably be removing the scaling caused from sitting in water. That'd probably take some CLR or something like it. I don't know how that stuff reacts to plastic though. Honestly, I'd pass on this too. Especially because of the ones you already have. The cost is too high for the effort involved IMO. I still say a restoration is entirely doable. It looks likely to be in great condition under all the filth. It's just the getting through it that will be an adventure. Haha!

Dead Metal wrote:Oh you can remove the growth on top just fine, the thing with mould and fungus in general, is that the real threat lies beneath. When you see the mould, it's too late, the stuff is already in the plastic, which is why when you have it in your house you generally remove the infected object.
It doesn't have to sprout out immediately but the danger is always there.

Wood, drywall and anything porous, yes. You'd need to get rid of those. Plastic, especially more solid plastic and metal like old Megs, is extremely resistant to mold and having it seep in for lack of a better term. We both agree that he should pass on this. I simply think saving the figure is completely manageable.

You should be paying someone to properly dispose of this bio-hazard. Also, see a doctor, and treat your home. Because you might die.
I'm not **** joking, this could be nothing, but it could also **** kill you.

Honestly, I look at that and think it's not only G1 megatron with all his **** included, but a project to do. My only concern with the price is if the mold caused irreversible damage and that he might not be worth what I paid after cleaning.
