Hasbro Marvel Legends

Postby Rogue. » Mon Nov 12, 2007 10:25 pm

I know there was another topic for this, but without a functional forum search, there's no way I'm going to find it (and I'm not wasting my time finding it some other way).

Well, I've been both happy and pissed off with Hasbro's take on the Marvel Legends line. Most of the time, I think that these figures need better quality control. Or that the Hasbro team responsible for the line all need a swift kick in the ass!

A week or so ago, I saw some of the ML Fantastic Four figures, which really don't interest me. Invisible Woman looks dreadful. There's no facial details, and her hair looks like one bright yellow blob. Like a four-year-old's yellow crayon melted onto her head.

I've only seen one of the ML3 figures, Captain America. Not intrested, and certainly not impressed.

Today I saw the ML Spider-Man 3 series, or a few anyway. I found a Mary Jane, and well, almost threw up. She looks like Shrek! Regardless, I bought the damned thing because I might be able to use the legs for a Buffy custom or something. The more I look at the figure's face, the more I think that the sculpt itself isn't so bad, other than the nose, it just lacks paint detail. I mean it has five different colors... white, black, & dark brown for the eyes, red for the lips, and orange for the hair. Not even a colored iris! The four-year-old's orange crayon must have melted onto this monstosity's head to make the hair. Mary Jane's dress is just a pukey brown color. There are no little details on it which you can plainly see in the pics on the packaging.

Seriously, it seems to me that Hasbro is catering the ML figures to the four- and five-year-old market, not to collectors. Sure kids play with toys, but God, these things are so plain and dull you'd think they were made in the late 70s. That would be an insult to the Megos and Star Wars figures of those times though...

So, for your viewing pleasure, here's a photo gallery of this atrocity! I am seriously thinking about emailing Hasbro and complaining. I mean $10 for this garbage? Sandman's torso looks more attractive!

Are you ready?

Are you SURE?

Well, ToyBiz's stuff are interestingly higher grade.

The new Spider-Man 3 movie figs don't impress me much either.

The fact that Hasbro ditched the whole pack-in comic kinda pisses me off.

The comic was like the frosting on an already great cake.

Besides Mary Jane and black suited Spidey, the figures are quite good. The regular colored Spidey is easily the greatest one ever released. His posability is insane. The larger Goblin is also nice and so is the giant Venom. The new Sandman figure is also top notch. I was much more impressed with this line alone than almost my entire amount of Toybiz Marvel Legends.

toy biz MLs > hasbro MLs

i can't stand hasbro's legends so far. the only one i have from them is viking-armor thor. he's okay, but seriously lacks in articulation, and he is WAY pasty-looking. the spiderman 3 toys are just sad to look at. i love how my spiderman 2 "super-articulated" 6-inch spidey is STILL better than the crapola "360" spidey. i'll give hasbro a few more series before i completely give up.

I never warmed up to Hasbro's take on the Marvel Legends. Toybiz gave me more bang for my buck. High quality figures with a free comic.

I'll keep an eye out for you, I actually want that set(unlike the Spiderman Legends, which look like ass imo).
I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

QFT on both parts.
I have not purchased a Hasbro ML fig yet.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I hate Hasbros Marvel toys, I saw the reisues of the ToyBiz Spider-Man Movie Toys, and they look like cheap KO's!
No way I'm gona find a good looking Venom toy today for cheap, cos the Hasbro SM3 toys are smaler, more expensive and cheaper quality then ToyBiz toys!
I just hope Marvel Toys gets the license back soon.

I love Hasbro's work on a lot of lines (TFs, GIJoes, Star Wars), but from what I've seen on the shelves, them making the Marvel Legends line is kind of like Applebee's serving Filet Mignon.
Check out my books, Titanomachies and Divine Retribution, on my blog!

:BOT: The main reason why I'm turned off by Hasbro's line is that it doesn't seem like they put an effort in details.

Those MJ figures are a good example. The Toy Biz one looks phenomenal because of the red dress. The Hasbro... bleh. Even her hair isn't red (more like sick orange).

I took a good look at my old ML figures and Toy Biz went out of their way to make them look good. All of them have details like black wash to make clothing or muscle to pop. Ghost Rider looks amazing because his jumpsuit really looks like leather.

I can understand Hasbro nixing details because it's probably cost effective... but it kinda turns off its fans. :CON:

Hasbro ML Doom is all kinds of superior to the TB Doom.

They do get some of it right.

She-Hulk was awesome as well.
