I know it's just toy releases and finding a place for them. I know that in my head. But in my heart it feels like we didn't get a proper SG toy out of this.

They have options. You can keep it as a Shattered Glass Flamewar, or you can add a decepticon logo and have regular flamewar. It is your choice, there is nothing wrong with that I think.

Yeah, I don't understand this either. It just seems like they want to pad out the Shattered Glass line for some reason.

Flamewar hasn't existed in SG before so the majority of people who are going to want this have to get a Flamewar with the wrong insignia. I mean I get the whole stand in for multiple versions idea, but if that's the case, just make her standard Flamewar and give her a red sticker. Heck, any figure can be a SG version if were doing it this way.

Oh finally! A Flamewar I can actually buy! Just gonna have to slap a Decepticon sticker on her and she's good!

Do you think we'll get a generations version of the TFCC combiner limb that showed up in the SG universe? It was originally an Energon combiner mold.

Probably not. The ideal time to have done that would have been back in Combiner Wars or in Power of the Primes. The latter especially since Nexus Prime is one of the Thirteen, which is what POTP was all about. But the current team at Hasbro doesn't seem to have any interest in that lore right now.

Either way, a new Heatwave would have to use the Combiner Wars Onslaught mold (he was the torso, not a limb), which would have best been used in either CW or POTP. And you know that if they make only one combiner component, fans will want the rest to complete the set.

Though, at the end of the old SG storyline, all five were reborn in that universe together as SG Decepticons.

2 prongs here, but take this as a positive with a personal critique.

I have been waiting for a Flamewar, and she looks perfect. Well done, they nailed her. the paint is stunningly good, and I love the bow inclusion. This is a figure I have been wanting.

My nitpick? Much like SS86, it feels like it just took a spot for something else as just a way to release it. i want her, very clearly I want her, but I don't like that her existence in this line may have come at the expense of someone else. This wave of SG in particular feels a bit like leftover from Gen Selects, which doesn't really make sense but is still happening

I'll be getting Flamewar, but she wont be in my Shattered Glass collection just like I wont have a SG Slicer either, just SG Wheeljack and G1 Slicer.

The red Decepticon symbol doesn't bother me because someone like Flamewar would absolutely have a symbol burning in the color of fire and heat.

I am so glad that they had another use for that mold.
I love the mold
But I feel that it brings TFP Arcee down 2 levels.
If you have to make a re-make of an existing Figure, it has to at least, BARE MINIMUM, be as good as the original.

I saw somewhere that an ebay listing had added the new images.

So according to some JTPrime TFW posts in response to the "why is Flamewar in SG" commentary, Flamewar did not "replace" anyone:
-The original listings/solicitations for SG Wave 2 were only 4 figures, those being Magnus, Blaster, and a ""SG AST" (Shattered Glass Assortment, I'm assuming) of Soundwave and Wheeljack (which were the 4 that were rumored/leaked going into all this)
-At a much later point, Soundwave was split off from Wheeljack, Wheeljack's listing was "replaced" with Slicer (so they probably just changed it to match their intention to market it as Slicer), and Flamewar was added
JTPrime therefore assumes (ASSUMES, this is not a leak) that Hasbro wanted to do Flamewar but had nowhere else to put her and/or her paint budget was too high for some of the potential release avenues, so she ended up here, but there was never a fifth SG-specific figure planned that got cut in favor of Flamewar based on the listings.

I found that bit about Wheeljack/Slicer and Soundwave being an assortment to be interesting, though, as wouldn't that imply them to be the same price point? Because that would the closest thing we have to official confirmation that Soundwave will include cassettes. I know the comic has already been implying cassettes are coming, but the comic also gave Blaster more cassettes than the one he's coming with.

If Flamewar didn't bump out anyone from the SG line I do feel better about her.

Even if I was never gonna get her.

How could they not have anywhere else to put Flamewar if that's actually the case? They never came up with anything to replace the Legacy Beasts in Selects, she would have been perfect there. Really missed a chance to do SG Prowl.

We haven't had a Selects announcement for months, and none of those have been Legacy molds. I haven't seen any Selects rumors beyond what's already been revealed. Pure speculation on my part, but one explanation would be that Hasbro is more committed to these themed retailer exclusive capsules. That would mean less product for the fan channel retailers, though they're getting the Joe collab.

I think this is a case of fans taking product lines more seriously than Hasbro does, just like what happened with the Kingdom versus SS86 debates. Hasbro makes a certain number of figures, and those figures are divided up across multiple toylines and capsules, and they're grouped according to production considerations like budget as well as marketing considerations like narrative and theming.

I don't think picking a specific character or mold or tooling is any more self-serving than any other. They need product for many different kinds of retailers, and there are many reasons to allot the way they do. I also don't think it's strange at all, I mean, we've gotten Diaclone releases in Selects, Velocitron, Wreckers, and SG. Or at least, it's not any more strange than Kingdom Cyclonus and Galvatron alongside SS86 Scourge and Sweeps. I don't want to start that debate again, I just want to note that this isn't that big a deal from Hasbro's perspective.
