No. Its not. Jesus f*cking christ, I'm getting sick of hearing this comment. The only thing that can justify it is severe mental retardation.
If it was a "slap in the face" than not one single f*cking fan would like the design. Since the majority of fans do like it, you are **** out of luck. Go sit in the corner and bitch and moan like a good little four-year old, until you can come to the table and have an intelligent conversation with the rest of the adults.
Goddamn.
Dude. Calm the hell down.
Re-read the TITLE of this thread.
Okay?
Thanks.
Me thinks YOU need to re-read the title. The question is "What do YOU think of the new Prime". By saying it is a slap in the face of the fans, you are implying that everybody feels this way, when in reality, that is far from the truth.
I implied nothing. Forgive me for not placing an "I think..." as a prefix to "...a slap in the face of the fans."
I just feel some things should not change.
There is no reason to start a flame war over it. Geez.
And Ironhidensh, please. Grow up.
This issue is closed, back on topic, or more warnings will be issued.
Fender Bender, I was not the one flaming.

I think I was tired of seeing super similar cartoon primes based off of G1 prime, but this Prime is his own prime, with some aspects of G1 prime attached. it's an all new, live action prime for me, and i love it.
Of course, i love most of the movie designs. Ironhide was one of my top 3 characters in g1, and i am about to pull my hair out ebcause I still can't find his movie figure yet, because i love his new look. I never liked ratchet much, now because of the movie, im thinkin' he's pretty cool (need to see his personality first i guess)
Weird eh, hardcore g1 fan who's transformer collections consists of G1 figures, most autobot Alternators, 2-3 beast wars, and some classics (all stuff heavly related to the g1 cartoon, minus beast wars) is in love with the movie designs and toys! You won't find a single rid/armada toy here. ok, well maybe 1. I thought he was an alternator for some reason.. lol.. now he's in the way >.<

Oh well, here's to hoping the rest of the characters get completely redesigned for Transformers II.
Night Raid wrote:Megatron, however... He's a different story. The familiar elements are absent. There's nothing we can connect to. Once again, this plays off the Us Versus Them theme. Nothing familiar here. How much more 'not like us' can you get? He's as different as different can be. This plays into another facet of human nature. People fear what is different, what they cannot understand.
So, not only does the Movie Prime work well, but in designing Optimus Prime and Megatron the way he did, Michael Bay has made a wonderful social commentary.
Whisper wrote:Personally, I don't like it.
The flames scream 'ricer', the exoskeleton is way too exposed, and the face is horrible.
In my opinion, they could have done a lot better than this.
That being said, seeing as the movie is completed and the designs are set in stone, my opinion is therefore redundant. Still doesn't stop me from disliking it though...

Erm, Orion Pax? He had a big ass mouth. Primes eyes change shape to simulate the emotion of pain when he is dieing in the movie....so yeah.... "your turn"
Salazaar wrote:Thank you. So did almost all other incarnations of Optimus Prime. Also, G1 was an outdated toy commercial with horrible animation and voice acting.

Yeah i wouldnt go that far. Yeah most of the animation sucks at times especially in seasons 3 and 4 but the voice acting was ok for a kids cartoon.
It was the mid 80's afterall, you cant expect CowBoy Bebop quality animation from something from that time period.

Acutally you could. Disney had been doing good animation for decades. Granted it was in movie form and not for daily series, but they could've paid a little bit more closely if they wanted to.
