No. Its not. Jesus f*cking christ, I'm getting sick of hearing this comment. The only thing that can justify it is severe mental retardation.

If it was a "slap in the face" than not one single f*cking fan would like the design. Since the majority of fans do like it, you are **** out of luck. Go sit in the corner and bitch and moan like a good little four-year old, until you can come to the table and have an intelligent conversation with the rest of the adults.

Goddamn.

Dude. Calm the hell down.

Re-read the TITLE of this thread.

Okay?

Thanks.

Me thinks YOU need to re-read the title. The question is "What do YOU think of the new Prime". By saying it is a slap in the face of the fans, you are implying that everybody feels this way, when in reality, that is far from the truth.

I implied nothing. Forgive me for not placing an "I think..." as a prefix to "...a slap in the face of the fans."

I just feel some things should not change.

There is no reason to start a flame war over it. Geez.

And Ironhidensh, please. Grow up.

This issue is closed, back on topic, or more warnings will be issued.

Fender Bender, I was not the one flaming.

Fender Bender as a Moderator stated that the issue is closed to keep things back on this track so that others can enjoy this thread. Since you brought it back up, that's an official warning.

Personally, I don't like it.

The flames scream 'ricer', the exoskeleton is way too exposed, and the face is horrible.

In my opinion, they could have done a lot better than this.

That being said, seeing as the movie is completed and the designs are set in stone, my opinion is therefore redundant. Still doesn't stop me from disliking it though... :P

ok. yee, he may look a little different than what we all expected or whatever but seriously..if you saw this guy just walking down your street, the first thing you would notice is not how he looks. its been made to look realistic and all the designs sure do as they are aliens.

I think he looks amazing. This is the first time I've taken to Prime since G1. I skipped all the other incarnations of prime (that nemisis prime stuff is ridiculous in my opinion). I think I was tired of seeing super similar cartoon primes based off of G1 prime, but this Prime is his own prime, with some aspects of G1 prime attached. it's an all new, live action prime for me, and i love it.

Of course, i love most of the movie designs. Ironhide was one of my top 3 characters in g1, and i am about to pull my hair out ebcause I still can't find his movie figure yet, because i love his new look. I never liked ratchet much, now because of the movie, im thinkin' he's pretty cool (need to see his personality first i guess)

Weird eh, hardcore g1 fan who's transformer collections consists of G1 figures, most autobot Alternators, 2-3 beast wars, and some classics (all stuff heavly related to the g1 cartoon, minus beast wars) is in love with the movie designs and toys! You won't find a single rid/armada toy here. ok, well maybe 1. I thought he was an alternator for some reason.. lol.. now he's in the way >.<

I don't really get why people bitch about the flames so much. They seem to be there so that he can still be red and blue due to his different transformation. The whole flame thing seems a little silly to me.

I'd say Optimus is my favorite movie design, by far. He's a truck, he's got Cullen's voice, and he even looks like G1 Prime. He's pretty much how I expected Prime to be in a TF movie, and he's actually true to the character, unlike most of the other characters. I look at him and say "That's Optimus Prime." Same can't be said for guys like Starscream. As far as I'm concerned, Prime is excellent.

Why boggles my mind is why couldn't they design the other characters like they did Prime? Jazz and Bumblebee look like their predecessors, but the rest really don't.

I can kind of live with Megatron being different, because he's completely different in every series anyway, but guys like Prime and Starscream don't usually change that much. Had they given Starscream the head from movie Thundercracker, I would endorse his design so much more, because not only would I recognize him as Starscream, TC's head is a little scarier too.

Prime's design is pretty much perfect. He's different, and not blocky, but he has tons of elements from G1 Prime so that you actually know who he is.

I donno why they screwed up the rest, because minor changes would fix them. Bumblebee's head is the right shape, if they had given him a mouth instead of that dumb gascap, he would instantly look like Bumblebee, and would be pretty much perfect. Giving Starscream a new head and maybe a couple red stripes would fix his design. If Ratchet was white instead of yellow, he's make me think of Ratchet.

Oh well, here's to hoping the rest of the characters get completely redesigned for Transformers II.

Night Raid wrote:Megatron, however... He's a different story. The familiar elements are absent. There's nothing we can connect to. Once again, this plays off the Us Versus Them theme. Nothing familiar here. How much more 'not like us' can you get? He's as different as different can be. This plays into another facet of human nature. People fear what is different, what they cannot understand.

So, not only does the Movie Prime work well, but in designing Optimus Prime and Megatron the way he did, Michael Bay has made a wonderful social commentary.

Off topic, but I completely disagree. If that were to make it a social commentary then every us-versus-them alien movie, every movie featuring an albino, disfigured, or otherwise 'different' person as a villain, and every cartoon with a monstrous villain would qualify as a 'social commentary'. If the roles were reversed, or the heroes and villains were visually impossible to differentiate, that might be a social commentary. As it is the commentary is absent; they're simply making full use of a traditional cliche.

i like the look of optimus prime in the movie flames and everything. i like that he's not the same kind of truck g1 prime is. i think the flames make him look like he's from this year. he's lips i like and dislike i like them becuase it gives his face a little more felling, but i dislike it becuase g1 optimus just had the face plate from what i can remeber and i was hoping g1 prime was what they were losly basing movie prime off of.

I feel the same way.

I am still going to see the film, and I am still excited, I just think the execution was not as graceful as it should have been.

I am refering to the design, not the awesome CGI.

Thank you. So did almost all other incarnations of Optimus Prime. Also, G1 was an outdated toy commercial with horrible animation and voice acting.

Uhm, I can understand the erroneous animation, but the voice acting? We wouldn't have Peter Cullen if it weren't for voice acting! We wouldn't have Frank Welker if it weren't for voice acting!

Remember, it's not the actors with bad speech or corny lines, it's the hippies that wrote those lines and paid the actors to say them, that's what.

Yeah i wouldnt go that far. Yeah most of the animation sucks at times especially in seasons 3 and 4 but the voice acting was ok for a kids cartoon.

It was the mid 80's afterall, you cant expect CowBoy Bebop quality animation from something from that time period.

Acutally you could. Disney had been doing good animation for decades. Granted it was in movie form and not for daily series, but they could've paid a little bit more closely if they wanted to.

I doubt it. It was a quickly produced TV cartoon. You cant compare a Disney MOVIE with a saturday morning tv cartoon. It least it wasnt Hanna Barbara quality, or however you spell their names.
