If Soundwave is in the next movie what should his Alt mode be?

Postby kendragon » Thu Jul 26, 2007 8:32 am

I for one dont want him to be something small.. i think frenzy covered that in the first movie so what vehicle would make a kickass soundwave.

My thoughts at the moment are leading to a fast and the furious styled modded van with massive speakers and neon etc etc. The colourscheme could be the same as G1 soundwave and you could even figure a way to have Rumble and Ravage as speakers or something so they could seperate from him.

So my question is, what would you like Soundwave as in the next movie?

EDIT:: Oops... didnt see that someone already made a post like this one below...

It's not bad, but it doesn't fit Soundwave. No vehicle mode fits his character nor who he is. Part of what made Soundwave Soundwave was his alternate mode. It was that mode that he derived his name from in the first place, and an updated version of that mode is still the best choice including his mass conversion, which was only off limits for the first movie. This is what I think he should really look like, A larger portable stereo soundsystem with a built in DVD player and CD changer.

I'd still have him turn in to a boombox, but not a tiny one. Being naive and from another planet he borrows the form from a giant set of speakers meant to look like a stereo used by a goofy Japanese pop band thinking he could blend in anywhere with that.

Also his reason for transforming would be, because the likes of Lazerbeak, Rumble, and Ravage aren't seperate Transformers, but extensions of himself and for them to be deployed he has to lend part of his spark to em.

How does any vehicle fit a character named Soundwave? It doesn't. Soundwave needs to be a soundsystem, not necessarily a tape deck. That is why I posted the large boombox with CD changer and DVD player. Notice, no tape deck. A vehicle mode just doesn't suit him at all.

People might get confused by the ''transforming into a small stereo'' thing. And a real big stereo will look kinda ridiculous. Don't forget that they're not only doing this for the fans, they want some new comers too. Alot of those new comers might not be aware of who was Soundwave and why could he shrink himself like that.

The mass conversion device was a good idea for a toon. But to reproduce that in a movie would be tricky. People might confuse him with Frenzy, as they both have a similar role and both can transform into a stereo.

I really think that the nice pic (very very nice pic...) would work awsome, and would follow the trend of ''Bayformers''. The vehicule choice could change, but a vehicule would be the best choice.

I disagree. A vehicle mode doesn't fit his character in the least, nor his name. Secondly, as long as the aesthetics are diffeent, they will certainly not confuse him with Frenzy. On top of that, while it may be tricky to pull off, Mass conversion is possible to pull off, and size changing has been used in live-action sci-fi and fantasy stories for decades. It isn't anything new and people have accepted it. The reason why it wasn't used in the first movie is because time needs to be devoted to it as a plot device, and there wasn't that time in the first movie with everything else that needed to be dealt with. In a Sequel, they do have that time because the Audienc has already accepted everything from the first movie. Too many fantastic elements at one time is not good, but that same number of fantastic elements added over multiple movies will work.

first of all, i think it's a pretty safe bet that soundwave will look and sound nothing like his g1 self and nothing like those 2 renderings UNFORTUNATELY. seeing what bay and co. did to the other bots is proof of that. just look at those 2 debacles they call megatron and frenzy. uggh, it just hurts me to even see thier names when i see what they did to them along with the rest of the bots. i for one would like to see soundwave as some sort of super computer or something like that and normally i would also love to see ravage, laserbeak, rumble, and co. but after seeing how they totally screwed up "frenzy" i would rather not see anymore mistakes like that.

I wouldn't say tyat they screwed up any of the characters, and none of the ones you mentioned really have iconic appearances like Prime, or Soundwave. Soundwave's appearance is really iconic so I don't think they would mess with it too much, and Hasbro was pretty adamant that he be done right, including havinga stereos system alt mode and have mass conversion capability.

Can't say that I would throw a fit if they decided to make him a vehicle in alt mode. The design in the fan picture convinced me of that. It pretty much rocks my socks. Having it be some sort of communications vehicle seems to be a nice touch.

I dont think soundwave HAS to be a stereo type device because of his name and I just dont see Bay and Co. revisiting the stereo angle for the sequel... no matter what type of entertainment unit or large speaker set it is.

Soundwave for TF2

Postby Coolyfett » Thu Jul 26, 2007 6:01 pm

im new to this site... but i got an idea. How about a Broadcast Vehicle . Most radio/television stations have them. They allow DJs/Anchors to broadcast from anywhere. The Idea is a truck equipped as a Broadcast Vehicle for a party/club/dance radio djs (think PIMP MY RIDE) It would have 2 CD Turntables and a Mixer AKA Rumble, Ravage & Laserbeak. In battle mode all Soundwave has to do is pop the trunk. And the 2 CD Turntables and Mixer transform. What do you all think?
There is no excuse for TF3 to not be done properly!!!

The problem with that is it would really stick out like a sore thumb. The news crews only use them where ther is breaking news going on. It isn't the type of alternate mode that is very inconspicuous. It would draw too much attention. For a character like Soundwave, that is bad.

I'n not so sure, Cooly seems onto something. He described a news broadcast vehicle, well why not have the autobot Broadcast play the easy to notice vehicle while Soundwave be like the police high surveylance vehicle that blends in with the neighborhood. Barricade already played a police car so...why not swatmod surveylance Soundwave?

That could set up the two comunications officers nicely.
