I think in his heart, regardless of which side of the fence he's on, he's simply a good and decent man. Which is exactly the type of person we need in the office. Someone with a clear head and an open heart.
His inauguration speech was incredible, and showed how much class the man has.
I did, not however, care for the second prayer with the racial jargon in it. I felt like it was an attack on all races but African based. Some of it was humorous, but all in all it kinda felt like a jab.
But it showed how far removed Obama is from that type of thinking, and just how much awesomesauce pumps through his veins.
If you could get a transfusion from the man, there'd be so much cool dripping off of you it'd form icicles.

Despite having people desperately wanting him to fail just so they can save face...I will freely admit, I wanted Hillary to get the nomination, but in hindsight, I must say i was wrong. Hillary would have been an improvement over McCain, and DEFINITELY an improvement over Bush, but I don't think she would have done enough, because she has been around too long as well. Obama is truly a breath of fresh air. Now, here's hoping all his dealings don't blow up in his face.

He's trying to make peace with Cuba (a Communist land).
I dunno, I sincerely doubt he's trying to head in that direction, but you have to admit it's a bit suspect at first glance.
If we could make peace and friends again, great. I'd love for their to be a happy planet once again, but I'm not sure it's possible.
Ah well, I'll shut up now so I don't get flamed.

Just a quick aside from someone who lives in one of the many First World Nations that has Socialized Medecine...
Seriously, it's not the end of the universe.

In America, healthcare makes up about one-sixth of our economy. If you nationalize healthcare, therefore, you nationalize one-sixth of the economy. Combined with the various financial institutions that are already nationalized, not to mention GM, which appears to be tumbling into the same fate, and you've got what...maybe a quarter of the entire U.S. economy under government control? Maybe more like a third?
That's a little bit terrifying, considering how poor a job our elected officials do of representing us and how fond Obama seems of using appointed officials to do his bidding rather than going through the legislative branch as the Founding Fathers intended.

There's the people who voted for him because he's a Democrat, and so are they.
The people who voted for him because he's a Democrat, and they're dissatisfied with the job the Republican's have been doing for the past eight years.
Just Negare wrote:So, I hear Obama has done a few back flips of late regarding Guntanamo and those photos of further abuse.
They would have, and did, crucify Bush for such boo-boos.
As it is, I think History will judge Bush more kindly, he may have done some intellectually distressing things, but all up, he did do some good.
(I'll let you guys know what when I find it...)
...but come on, he just tried so hard and he never gave up, most people would be like "Ah, bugger it!" and go have a smoke out by the boss' car.

Its not that he's back flipping that bothers me, because all politicans are scumbags, my issue is with how he ranted and raved and sold himself and his campaign on "change" and "hope" and "honesty" and "stuff", yet when push comes to shove he's just like every other politican out there.
But will the media be on his arse like flies on **** when he messes up?

Probably not. Afterall, he is black. And they don't want to be construed as racist. Yeah, I know. This may seem like too easy of a reason, but if he was attacked fearmongering parasites such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will immediately say "oh, it's because he's black!" But, as you said, bottom line, he is a politician. He will cover his own rear first.
