I really am trying to keep an open mind and I'm sure the movie will be good. I just don't think the movie figures translate well to the toy world. Well from what I have seen so far.

Prim'es flames don't do it for me. I felt they were unnecesary but sure, I'll buy into the storyline.

I don't know whay the faces had to be so.....Predatoresque.

It's definately not what I would have done with the movie designs, but everyone seems to be settling for it just fine.

Hopefully after watching the movie, I will too.

Death threats might be going a tad bit too far though. Dude definately deserves a lil hatemail though. :-P

I think it can be summed up like this...

Movie Megs is awesome.

Movie Megs figure is CRAP.

And whoever was talking about weak ankled figures, get Override or Override GTS. Good lord.

I think i'll wait till later to buy Megatron. I'm sure alot of problems with the figure (such as the Fusion Cannon) is just sloppy workmanship, so i'll wait till a new batch comes out and see how thouse fair out.

The most they could do is tighten up his joints, specifically the ankles.

The fusion cannon isn't sloppy workmanship. It's designed as is, people just aren't locking it in place. I had the same problem (because the instructions aren't worth the paper wasted...) but once I decided to push just that little bit further, it locked and held.

Blackout is sloppy workmanship. He needs a major overhaul in his design. It's a terrible Automorph. It could work so much better if they had just put him together right. No one should have to disassemble a brand new item to fix a problem right out of the box. That's ridiculous.

However, movie toys are not the first to be plagued by this. All the previous lines at one time or another had the same problems.

For example: Energon Rodimus. Versions came out where his face wasn't painted at all. (If that's not sloppy workmanship, I don't know what is.)

Megatron's not perfect, I'll be the first to admit that, but he's not the worst out there and he certainly kicks more ass than some figures.

Ah, the old "other person's rubish is another person's tresure". I see where your comming from, Out of the movie figures, I LOVE my Bumblebee figure. But tighting of the joints sounds like something that with a screwdriver or with some crazy glue can fix. hmm, now I want Megs again.

First off, while I liked Beast Wars Megatron, nothing can match the original Megatron, nothing. I just wanted to get that off my chest. With that in mind, I've accepted the movie Megatron and will get the leader class figure. Heck, I plan on getting Leader class Prime, so it seems right. However, I do agree that he needs a better paint job, so I think I'll get him and give him a silver paint job myself. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I don't know, I've seen the pictures of both and I end up thinking to myself "Are either worth the money to take up shelf space?" I haven't seen either in the stores I've been too, but I may wait until I see what the Japanese Voyager figure looks like before buying Megs. Rumor is that the Takara/Tomy version of Voy Megs won't have all the "iced" parts the stores in the US are selling.

They do both need that darker, gunmetal paint app that the movie Megs is sporting in the trailers.

you can't make out his darn face with that glossy black... i don't mind so much the blue, just a little less of it, but the grey toy color and pink should go.. i found a nice repaint image but that face is stll black so its not purfect, but Hasbro, Target, or Wal-mart needs to issue a better painted one!! like ASAP!!!

I like this versions hints of gold, but the blue should also be in there and the face and black parts should be gun metal colored...

then it'd be perfect...

Image

he's supposed to have a face!!

Image

Image

he needs to be Shinny metallic silver, bits of gold, and some hints of metallic blue.. then he'd be good, with gun metal underneath...

I really like that repainted one you have shown. I'll wait and see what the repaint will look like that comes from Hasbro. If it's still crap I'll either not buy any Megatron figure, or I'll pick one up and paint it closer to the CG model. Silver with a hint of blue. Black or dark gray for the interior colors. Gray and silver for the face. Red for the eyes. And gold for the joints and small little mechanisms.

A few of the other TF boards are talking about a slight mod to Movie Megatron that gets the fusion cannon to stay open and gets the right hand to fire. Apparently, when the figures were assembled, the spring that closes the fusion cannon should have been placed in the right arm so that the right claw fires. All it takes is to unscrew the two screws for the fusion cannon and pop out the spring, and put it back together. Then open up the right arm and attach the spring on the trigger button and reattach the arm and you are done. I tried this on my Movie Megs and it was a simple procedure. So now you can at least have working gimmicks on this hideous trainwreck of a figure...

I don't think the spring in the right arm was a mess up. I think I figured it out, finally. Connect the two arms together (at point A) with the tabs and then deploy the cannon. There is a space in the left arm that is sculpted differently (point B) that acts as a catch for the cannon. There you have it! It's pretty cool, really. Too bad the instructions don't tell you any of this!

I figured out part A, a few days ago. Part B I missed.

That sweet, sweet, G1 blockiness, yes?

Not so bad now, is it? And they're even "movie" figures lol!

I have no further questions, your honor!

Well-stated.

Case dismissed!

In spite of his flaws, I like Leader Megatron.

But his alt mode is pure crap.

I stand corrected. The spring *IS* supposed to be in the right arm. You'd not believe the force that claw comes out with. It's quite good considering today's standards.

Also, the gun is on a slide (the hinge is the slide) and it slides into place for the weapon. You had a great idea, but it wasn't the correct one. But hey, at least you tried. Hasbro didn't even put anything in the instructions except a tiny blurb.

The slide thing was originally found by a TFW member, and reposted here I believe.

I'm a GeeWuner to the core. I did buy the "Megatron", but I'm kitbashing it into a Slugslinger. I'm also kitbashing the "Starscream" into an Eagle Eye. The Megs is neat, but by no means is he Megatron. IMO he should bea gun or a tank nothing else.

I agree. Megatron should be a GIANT Cybertronian tank, with a F***ing HUGE fusion canon/turret.

Now that would be sick.
