In all honesty I thought they were ignorant in the show (I thought EVERYTHING about those cartoons were ignorant) but they will be a really fun addition to HMW.

So Minicons don't have any education? :???:

Aww, why do people always diss us, precious? I doesn't know precious... guess it must be because we talk like stupids, yesh?

Oh by the way that was the hot chocolate loaded with sugar speaking [like golem... ish], so just ignor that...

Anyway... what I wanted to say was something along these lines -

I think Minicons are one of the greatest additions to the TF saga. I orginally began to like TF because of Armada, and until I had seen Aramada, I wouldn't touch Transformers with a 40 foot pole.
I will agree that the actual animating was dodgy looking, and that yes with better funding or perhaps more effort, the animating could have looked less crap. The story-line, however, was pretty good. It had a whole new pespective of the TFs world, by adding the minicons. And if you are dead-set on hating Armada, then that's okay, but atleast read the comics. The comics actually have a slightly different story line, and in my opinion, are far superior to the cartoon. (The Minicons talk, too, in the comics).
Aside from that, I will also agree that Armada is a little corny. And personally, I believe if it was made in another country, it would have been much less corny. Why? I blame it on the TV code of thics/censoship/whatever its called. If G1 was made in this stone age, you wouldn't see it like it was. You'd see so many save-our-environment-and-ciolence-isnt-the-only-way subliminal messages, you'd be spewing up Green Peace brochures afterwards.

So, yeah... that's my insight to Armada :)

Armada was made in another country. It's also a product of 90% of stuff that gets ported over to America. I know the american dubs ran in Canada, I assume in parts of Europe too. Unfortunatly, when a lot of stuff gets ported over, it gets looked at as "OMG! What are these freaks letting their kids watch! This is a cartoon! We can't allow our children to see this!" and stuff gets censored, episodes get chopped down and put together to flesh out other episodes, and parts of dialog is changed so that 'offensive' things are removed and unfortunatly, that leaves the reactions looking out of place. Look at Yugioh, people have guns erased from their hands, which looks really awkward when they're holding their hand at someone and threatening them. Or Dragonball Z where most of Vegeta's dialog was changed to be less offensive and most of the blood was deleted in the original showing. Hell, people hate Sailor Moon, but I can pretty much garuntee that most of the people who don't like have never really seen it. Shaman King is a really awesome anime, if you don't watch the 4kids dub.

Or Cardcaptor Sakura. That's a pretty classic example... :P

This happens all the time when Japanese animations are redone for the Western market. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Japan and the USA work together on the 'toon (as with the original TF cartoons), it can be rigged to work in both countries.

But the two cultures are incredibly different, so if you take an exclusively Japanese cartoon and bring it over here, it won't work the same, especially if you're marketing it for kids. So the animation's imported, but has to be modified (as Dreadwind says, mostly to keep the censors happy), and the plot half the time has to be left behind, with a new one written pretty much from scratch to fit the scenes the've got.

The result is stuff like Armada (although from what I've seen, I think Energon is a worse culprit).

And Cybertron got hosed... but not for censers or anything, just because Hasbro wanted to add it to the Armada/Energon storyline to make Unicron Trilogy.

It's really annoying, and sometimes it's not even the censors they have to get through. For Shaman King, 4kids president said they had to rework it because it was to adult with death and adult themes, and also said they wouldn't release a uncut version for DVD because there was no money in it, he said that a anime convention too. In some cases, the people who are behind importing these animes are just completely out of touch.
