I think imo that I like the TF's I do like because of the traits they have. I like them in a "I like the design" way.E.G Bumblebee cause he is cute because he is small car. BW Megs for that sexy voice. If that includes the fact that they have a cute face or whatever then so it must be.

When it really comes down to the bottom line, who cares? If they really want to talk about a 30 foot robot jet being sexy, let them. Why should it matter to you? I mean, if they send you pictures of the cartoon character over and over again, then there maybe a problem. But people have always had crushes on cartoon characters, its a minor outlet for them to express themselves.

It can be noted that every following has people who fantasize over the characters as if they were real. To take another example, look at pokemon. Now if you were in the young age bracket for the time, you would have sold your soul to the devil to have a real pokemon at your side. Yes you may find it childish, but its still someone’s dream.

And as for you who find it "dumb" or stupid", or possibly "degrading to the transformer fan name", that’s good for you, but that’s your own personal opinion, that we've now heard.

Now I maybe no lawyer or police officer, but if I remember the faithful day I pressed the sign up button on this site, there was a small blurb about being respectful to others ideas and contributions. Maybe its time we all took a nice step back and looked at our perspective on things, since viewing a topic through one perspective alone solves nothing. Of course, this leads into more of a philosopher’s forum thread about how someone can find an animated character attractive, be it through looks or personality.

Cars aren't sexy. They're machines. And people can be found sexy because A) They're people and B) They're real.

Also, as far as MY opinion goes, MY personal opinion is that if people want to see romance between Transformers, that's great. But the fact is, they're roots at war, and I don't think too many males (Who, just for the record are the target audience)want to see romance.

(I apologize if that comes across as discriminating against female fans, it's not, I'm simply saying that Transformers was, and generally still is generally released as a product for a male audience.) Hell, Gundam Wing's a good show to watch if you want both mechs and romance.

I mean, for crying out loud, it's a cartoon about giant transforming robots who are millions of years old. Aimed at males. Same with males who think Arcee's hot. Again, it's a drawing. Voiced by a woman who is in her 50s.

And then there's the ones who talk about Romance, etc, who annoy me too. I know people are entitled to their opinion, but Transformers shouldnt' be the place to look for 'girlie' things such as romance, and crap like that. I guess it's kinda "Cute" but in a lot of instances, it's creepy, such as sex fics. Those mofos need help. I like Transformers, because it's something that's aimed with us guys in mind, with action, awesome robots, and cool toys. As I said, it bothers me when peopel fawn over characters in a kids franchise. It's like people thinking those stupid Bratz dolls are hot. I just don't get it.

1st - People can feel anyway they want.

2 - Men have been "falling in love" with cars, boats, spacecraft & weapons since the dawn of crap. Hence the female names on fighter planes, rotary saws & Corvette Stingrays.

3. Women are different than men. Really different. Formost, the average woman/girl may be attracted to a being based on physical basis', but in most cases issues of love, lust or even the need to seek the attention of someone outside a relationship is based on personality. Women are and always will find the bad boys a most striking and eye-catching subject. Especially a character that they feel -- or plainly states -- that the chance exists to reform.

Last - you don't have to like it.

Why can't cars be sexy? And, uh, last time I checked, they're also real.

Also, as far as MY opinion goes, MY personal opinion is that if people want to see romance between Transformers, that's great. But the fact is, they're roots at war, and I don't think too many males (Who, just for the record are the target audience) want to see romance.

I think you're completely missing the point, "YOUR opinion" or not. If people want to write romantic fanfiction between two giant metal robots, hell, if they want to write about two (or more) giant metal robots getting their rocks off with each other, that doesn't actually say or imply that they wanted the cartoons or the comics or the movie to be about romance or sex.

And of course it doesn't come across as discriminating to female fans, because everyone knows all female fans of everything ever want is nothing to do with war and touching love stories!

QFT

I also have to say that even with things that squick me, you don't usually find most of that unless you're digging. Meaning- most fics are clearly labeled, etc, etc.

Besides, even if you do come across something you don't like, you can always hit back. Even if I don't understand why someone would want to fly with good 'ol Screamer, they're perfectly entitled to have whatever sort of fun in fandom that they want. Really, the only thing that's ever driven me away from fandoms is flame wars and fan fights. Thankfully, I've only been looking at this forum for a few weeks, but it seems mostly devoid of that sort of Wank.

Well, there very well could be, some weird people out there... rule 34, there is porn of everything.

You ain't kidding. Let's see, what's been mentioned..? I don't think I've ever seen Bratz stuff, but I think I've seen Teletubbies. And definitely Pokemon. Also Simpsons and Rugrats... Best not to dwell on it, though. :-s

I dunno... Andorians, metallic lifeforms, theoretically, as long as they're humanlike. Transformers is, to be fair, pushing it a bit; the logistics don't bear thinking about..! :P

The actual act would be, but at least you could connect with the TFs on an emotional level, unlike the others...

Transformers in the very beginning may have been meant for males, but the creators did put in female characters eventually to attract girls. Girls liking only "girl stuff" is not a hard and fast rule; the producers must have realized this or they would not have bothered. This is evidenced by the existance of female TF fans.

Guys shouldn't be threatened by this, in fact it should be celebrated. Wouldn't you want your significant other to share in your interest? She would know your joy in collecting and watching the shows rather then have no clue what the fuss is about.

I know that Transformers is mostly targeted to males. Did I say mostly? I meant always. That's ok, because I like this kind of stuff. I know that most women don't give two sh*ts about it, including my friends (who think I've gone off my nut). I'm one of those chicks that subscribes to three different girly magazines, wears very feminine clothes and makeup, and then plops her ass down on the couch and settles in with a Transformers comic.

And someone please tell me how Starscream is sexy. Intriguing, treacherous, funny, yes. You might even say his design is attractive (not sexually, but aesthetically pleasing). The moment his mouth opens in the cartoon, sexy has flown out the window. The voice matches his personality. Nothing more, nothing less. Definitely not there to turn us on.

Putting in female characters in male-dominated genres and stories is a cheap, insulting ploy to lure women in to buy their crap. I don't NEED a female heroine to "relate" to. That's saying that the male characters aren't interesting enough on their own. Like I have to have a pink autobot in the mix or I'm not interested. It's also insulting to the males that like Transformers/superheroes/etc. Every time they put a female in a superhero story (unless it's a love interest) it's usually just about T & A. Need examples?

Catwoman and Elektra. 'Nuff said.

Thank you. See, I have no problems with female Transformers if they're Xena-esque warrior types who are there to utterly kick arse, ala Elita-One. I don't mind if they're warrior types, I don't mind the feminine element there. It's when they start becoming damsels in distress falling in love with their heroes is when they begin to piss my off.

I've always wondered that myself. The giant friggin' robot issue aside, I can't really think of a single redeeming feature for him - he's a treacherous, manipulative, self-serving, backstabbing coward, and he's got a ridiculously annoying voice.

Why do we not hear from more Jazz fangirls? He's got a lot more going for him. Sexy alt-mode, exciting job, bags of style, and all without a hint of pretention or arrogance. He's everything that James Bond wishes he could be - if he can get laid so often, I don't see why Jazz has so few fangirls...

Racial Discrimination. Girls like Starscream because he's a Red, White, Blue and Grey guy, and you never hear about them on Cybertron's most wanted. It's racial profiling- how often do you hear the one about the White and blue guy with the visor robbing a convenience store?

Ramrider, those reasons you posted about Starscream's terrible qualities are the exact reasons I love him.

I like Jazz as well. And I know this sounds girly, but I find the G1 version, well, cute. But he's also cool. I suppose you can call me a "Jazz" fangirl. I have to admit that some characters I like because they are "cute", and others because they are just so awesome. Like Bumblebee is cute, Megatron is awesome.

Meh, cute ain't as bad as "Sexy." I mean, it's not like you're one of the legions of fans who creates a Transformers fanfic character of themselves as a love interest of one of the characters. I hate trying to get into an (Otherwise awesome) story to find it's got a mushy love subplot with a Transformer.

The qualities listed are the exact reasons why there are so many more Screamer fangirls than Jazz...Girls wanna try to save the dangerous guy...Nice guys? who needs them??

Anyway I don't understand the romance aspect of the Transformers fandom either because we've seen it in the series and it's cheesy, awkward and just plain HORRIBLE! (The Girl Who Loved Powerglide, Sea Changers)

I've only seen a couple of clips from "The Girl who Loved Powerglide" (which sounds more like a title for pornography or a product) and while it's really stupid, it makes me laugh a bit. I think it was for comic relief. And no, I wouldn't create a fanfic character to have a vicarious love affair with a Transformer. I'm not even that hot on actors, you know, real people.
