I watched the other day this movie myself. It was good, but not how I hoped it would be. I love how the film begins slowly but I hate it how all the main action happens in the last 20 minutes of the two hour movie. I don't want to talk about crappy action where cam would shake and I couldn't see what the hell was going on there. Too much humans and too little Decepticons. Starscream was totally screwed in this movie, with almost no appearance and most of Decepticons were actually beaten by humans, I mean really...

Romance was pathetic if you ask me, kinda forced in some way and that scene when they hold hands while autobots are arriving and they are looking at the sky.... no comment

And there was this poor line from Prime about fallen Jazz (something like this anyway if I'm mistaking then sorry, I probably didn't hear it well) '' We lost a comrade but we gain a new one'' .... no comment.
I thought I would go and watch it two or three more times but I won't bother now. Next time Bay, more Transformers and more action that can be seen clearly. :-x

I saw the movie sis and bro; we loved it very much!!
There wasn't sex which is very good. I liked the scenes and Transformers too. I love Bumblebee I wish it would be mine. ;;)

:-? Only thing which make rant is Megatron's appearance of face. They could have done better.

Overall, I could go and see for second time. Waiting the DVD. 10++

Hardcore fans CAN'T have liked this movie. A film called Transformers that is treated as an Alien Invasion movie does not deserve to be called Transformers. As a mate told me yesterday, the main story of this is that it's a war between Autobots and Decepticons. The humans just get in the way. Megatron does not want to conquer Earth....why? He should only be interested in Cybertron.

At the end of the day, this was an extremely bad film with some of the most annoying characters I've seen in a long time.

Too many thumbs down.

Maybe I'm not "hardcore", as I only watched G1, I didn't follow Beast Wars or Armada or any of the later shows. I loved the 1980s film, and series 1 and 2 bring such good memories back. But I don't like series 3 and 4, so maybe that's me out of the "hardcore" pigeon hole. Anyway, onto the film.

I've ALWAYS wanted a live-action film of Transformers since I was a kid, because I felt it could translate perfectly; so my hopes were VERY high. I even went to see the very first showing I could in the UK, Friday 20th July, Midnight.
It was awesome.
Which is rare, usually for me hype ruins a film. I just loved the little things, and the amazing CGI that brought them to life.
Megatron had his wicked mace-like weapon, just like the energy mace in G1, while Prime had a sword (the axe always looked a bit off to me). They both had guns in the final fight too, which was great as I thought they had ditched Megatron's.
Bumblebee's radio-speak instantly reminded me of the Junkions TV talk! Loved that.
The Autobots hiding all over the house, classic image. I never thought I'd see Prime pinned over a house trying to hide :D
The only thing I could think of really against it was how close and blurred some of the fights were, but that's everywhere in films these days, Batman Begins suffers from that too.
Another thing that I personally loved was something I didn't think they would pick up on. During the credits, we see Starscream blasting off into space. Ever since I was little me and my sister noticed how the original series credits always ended with Screamer transforming and rocketting away. That was pure gold

I was even all right with the human aspect. What I like about Transformers as a whole is how its Sci-Fi, but set in our world. As a kid I was fascinated by the idea cars could turn into robots. The film is about the Transformers, but you need the humans in it for us to relate to. It is "our world" after all. I think that's why I don't like series 3 & 4, just to disconnected from life as we know it. They aren't robots in disguise if they aren't even on Earth!

It was silly, it was fun, for over 2 hours I could go back to the time when I didn't have a care in the world :D

This is not a Transformers movie, it's a movie called ''Life of common humans with alien invasion as a backstory''. Oh and USA army always have to be shown in greatest light, they even took Scorpanok and Blackout, and Sam is the hero too!Lame.. Movie is good, but I don't want Transformers as guest starring damn it.

Just Prime!

Any film that begins and ends with Cullen talking brings me great joy.

The whole Bumblebee thing is very E.t.-esque but hey Spielberg's on board, and you do end up loving him regardless. This especially surprised me, because reading the prequel comics I thought Bumblebee was a bit of an idiot who deserved to lose his voice for not telling his troops the truth.

But Anyway, you end up loving him.

Sad to see Jazz go, especially when the first thing you hear him say is:

"Sup bitches!"

Or something like that.

Sam is very likeable, he's a loser, but with plans it seems. Megan Foxx did good too, although I would've liked to have seen a dynamic between Mikaela and Arcee had Arcee made it.

The Con's were OK, a looming menace, as it were. Frenzy literally feeding on data was a nice touch, as was the flipping the bird to the humans.

My one problem was that Weaving's voice was altered so much it could've been anyone, heck it sounded like Ironhide to me. Also there were some nice bits of dialogue from Megatron in the comic adaptation that didn't make it.

The bit with scalding man for utlising his technology, then gobbing flame at and literally scalding a human, and the:

"Hello Brother"

Face off.

Finally the greeting Starscream was a lot different, I felt tagging Screamer as a dissapointment was TOO G1 like ramming the Starscream/Megatron dynamic down our throats.

At the end of the day though just hearing Cullen speak again was enough for me, but having the Autobots act humourously and of course the fate of the fallen Decepticons were all part of a very G1 flavour permeating the Movie.

9/10 at the best bits, 7/10 at the worst.

CULLEN UBER ALLES!

Which is funny, since Spielberg picked Michael Bay himself. So if anybody is to blame for Bay as director is Spielberg along with the studio. Remember, Bay was "hired" to do this movie. Don't blame a guy for being hired to do something, blame the people who hire him.

I'll agree the movie isn't perfect. But it's not horrible by any means. To classify it as a simple "Alien Invasion" movie is to disregard the Transformers as characters. It's an "Alien Invasion" movie in the sense that it's about Aliens (that has always been the case) who "invade" Earth (again, always the case with TFs).

The Transformers are on screen much longer than any aliens in any alien invasion movie I've seen. There are entire scenes with ONLY TFs on the screen, you don't get that in "War of the Worlds" or other movies.

I could go on about how much I liked the movie. How it made me feel like a kid again, and how during certain scenes, my eyes bulged out of my head and my jaw just dropped to the floor (the Prime vs. Bonecrusher scene is worth the 9$ ticket by itself). Or I could go on about how the last 30 minutes of this movie are better than sex. Sure, there are alot of things to dislike about the movie, but the strenghts outweight the weaknesses. I love the new style for the robots, and I'm glad the franchise took a more mature turn (finally!), if we would have been stuck with a TMNT-style movie, I would not have liked that.

Sure, it's not up to the caliber of "Batman Begins", but don't treat it likes it "Batman and Robin" either.

Yes, it could have been better - but it could have been so much worse.

Scott of VGcats wrote: News post time! Sorry last comic made me a little sleep deprived. Anyway! As you can tell I finally went to see the new Transformers movie. I wasn't going to at first but I heard it was actually good. I was lied to! Clearly those wanted to inflict the same suffering on me. Clearly.

To it's credit the effects were really well done and, it was cool seeing them fight. Here's the problem though. That's like less than a quarter of the movie. Most of it is spent on the God damned humans. When you're dealing with a franchise movie you have to treat it as such.

Take for example the latest Ninja Turtles movie, TMNT. Now here's a movie that actually stars the title characters. And you know what? It's was good! They spent the time to developed the characters we went and paid to go and see. The interplay between Leo and Raph was awesome and, Cowabunga Carl was freaking hilarious! So you had well developed characters following a plot relating to them and it was fantastic.

One of the misconceptions people seem to be having in saying Transformers was good is that they looked at it as just a movie but, it's not. It's the **** "Transformers". Not "Generic Action/Drama Movie". If I wanted to see a movie like that I'd go see Die Hard. And I did! And that was WAY better! The cast of people was faaaaar too oversized. Hell they were still adding people half way through the movie. It's a crying shame to have a Decepticon appear for one minute and then get killed. Again the name of the movie is TRANSFORMERS. They should not be side characters or just there for special effects.

So anyway. Michael Bay didn't create a Transformers movie. He made an action movie with the Transformers as side characters. Suffice it to say I can't recommend seeing this movie. Ever

Damn right on the spot. He has my opinion, only scott has the skillz to make a funny spot on comic with it.

Turning Transformers into something like TMNT would have been my worse nightmare. It would just have been a goofy, un-realistic, all-cgi movie. I wanted Transformers interacting with the real world and I got that.

I still don't believe how people can say "The TFs were barely in this movie". Did you see the same movie I did? Because the movie I saw had Transformers on screen for about 80% of the film, and the last 40 minutes is basically ALL TRANSFORMERS.

It's just beyond me how some people decide to hate Transformers, but like the other summer blockbusters (or lacklusters, as they were this year) like Pirates 3, Spiderman 3 and the Simpsons (Pirates 3, if I may say so, is one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life). I'm not saying that Transformers is perfect and it's the best movie ever, and I agree more characterization is needed - but since this is the first film in the franchise, and there was plenty to set up, I think they did a good job. Somethings I would change, but overall it's a great action film and it is, whether you choose to believe it or not, TRANSFORMERS.

Dude, this movie sucked. It had decepticons appearing for 10 seconds before dying. The focus was mostly on a human cast.
I found pirates 3 vastly more enjoyable then this piece of dog dung they call transformers.

Well heres my review, or rather my thoughts on this movie. As may of you know I have been one of the more outspoken detractors of this movie, people said "you cant judge it until you've seen it" and so I did both out of curiosity and the vain hope Id be proved wrong.

well I wasn’t wasn't wrong, or more to the point it lived down to my expectations. It was generic, the characterization of the Transformers ranged from basic to non-existent, the action sequences were flashy and over indulgent but failed to add any tangible content or excitement past “wooh look at the CGI on that!”, and it fell more like an invasion/action/disaster movie with some transforming robots in than a new exciting chapter in Transformers mythology. In short I thought it sucked.

However a few things did surprise me. I was really impressed with Shia! His acting was pretty good and the goofy comedy actually brought a smile to my face a few times. I really like the scene where he chased his car on his moms bike, he had some pretty funny lines early on in the movie and delivered them well. As a Human character he was the best in the movie, but this entire movie concentrated too heavily on too many human characters many of them as 1 dimensional as the CGI robots they were acting alongside. I would have preferred less human characters and more characterization of both humans and TFs. There really was no need for all those hackers or that comedy twat from Sector Seven, they only served to steal what precious screen time was left after they'd crammed all the often superfluous action and CGI hijinks in. Shia and his relationship with BB was one of the saving graces of the movie. However I feel that it fell apart a bit in the final act and he just reverted back to the generic teenage hero who through his strength of character and courage rather than his washboard abbs and trust fund got the unobtainable girl. I also found the relationship between him and Megan Fox came all too easy and in doing so seemed as hard to believe as many of the niggling little holes in the plot. Seeing as the first half of the movie set out 'getting a girl' as Sam's main motivation I don't think it got the screen time it needed to be believable.

Also what did surprise me was how devoid of emotion this movie was. I expected big cringe-worthy over emotional tear-jerking moments and huge yay us and America! Celebrations, instead emotions seldom appeared to run hotter than lukewarm. It reminded me that the other weekend I saw Short Circuit 2 for what must have been the 10th time and yet as the thugs laid into Johnny Five with axes I started to well up and when he chalked “Dying” onto the wall I almost broke into tears. When Bumblebee was rounded up and frozen and dragged off, when he was on the table being tortured I only felt slightly bothered, and as he crawled legless from the rubble I was past caring. Jazz, one of the most popular TF characters of all time was disposed of with so little dignity or thought and Prime didn’t seem too fussed either. By the time we got to the big battle at the end I felt so apathetic about the characters be they Human or otherwise that I really dint care who won, I just wanted it to be over.

Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? Not at all. I hope the next movie (if they make it which they probably will but Id prefer they didn't) is better but this movie has me so disinterested that I don’t know if I'd even bother to watch it to find out.

Yours AK

This is supposed to be an epic action movie.

I wonder why Bay concentrated on the absurd human activities and comedy.

I'm not gonna name any names but it seems to me there's people on this site who are never happy with anything. No matter what thread I've seen them posting in they've been complaining about something. It's extremely doubtful they went to see the film with an open mind.
Anyhoo...just gonna throw in a short review. Really enjoyed the film. Not gonna win any awards for writing but it never wanted to. All it sets out to be is a fun, summer blockbuster action movie and that's what it achieves. I've seen it twice already, mite go see it again and I'm definately buying the DVD. Screw all the crap about it "not being transformers" coz it is.
And before any of you nay-sayers start ripping this post apart, it's my opinion, I'm as right as any of you
