I think I figured out how to find the Dirty Bird version of Crankcase. I purchased two more today using the same lot code stamped on the back of the package as the first I purchased at Wal-Mart and came up aces. If you look on the back of the package card near the Paramount logo you should see a stamped number I assume is a lot code of sorts. ALL of the ones I just purchased with lot code 10561 has the fingers uncut. I noticed a newer lot code number of 10661 as well on the pegs which I will assume for now has the chopped off fingers.

The voyager class looks like a midget version of the previous that really dampens my interest even in Shockwave. The legends class figures do seem to appeal to me more this time around but not enough to buy right away. Looks like my hunch is right. I'll be saving a heap more money this go round.

Shockwave isn't bad in height. I thought the same thing, but he is about the same height as Grappel from the RTS line. He is, however, not very thick. Shockwave, in my OP, is the only thing worth buying from the whole line.

I know. It is lame......Hasbro short changing everyone because of the resin prices. Like they don't make enough on the Transformers license alone. One deluxe figure probably costs around $2.50 to make and the other 75% is for the royalties for owning the Transformer name. Can't take a cut in the profit margin? Pretty lame Hasbro....I want to start a Shockwave only toy boycott. Meaning Shockwave is the only thing worth a crap in the whole line.

Listen up people! My Meijer- that would be the one in Oregon- has new DotM figures! Mostly the smaller ones, however it had ONE Sentinal Prime. Don't know if anyone's interested. I bought a Delux Starscream because he was the best looking. This is the first I've seen the movie figures around here, so hopeful there is more to come. :CON:

i don't like the dotm toys either. so thank you, i too will HAVE FUN not enjoying the final movie toys and saving my hard earned money for better figures.
on a generations note, my walmart has decided to become stingy on the new wave of generations as i've not seen them yet (unusual), but i will be in the springfield/dayton area today and hopefully i'll find them.

Like I've been saying, the new DOTM toys are crap! and Hasbro has short changed us! Ill only be getting Megatron and Skyhammer, thats it! everything else is slag and should be melted down and made better Transformers out of it. Looks like 3rd parties will be getting all my money this year, like Fans Project, Personal Effects and Crazy Devy! Hasbro will get very little of my money or if any at that. And I will be happy NOT enjoying the new movie toys, so you have fun wasting your money and looks like you've hopped on the DOTM band wagon as well, sooooo good luck with that.

Well said. Hasbro can kiss my butt on this line......except for Shockwave, of course. :)

They really should run the GEN line indefinately. We still need deluxe size Trailbreaker, Hoist, Blitzwing, Insecticons, all the dinobots except Grimlock and scout class Gears, Brawn, and Beachcomber. We need a Skids too, but he can be either deluxe or scout class. A Reflector would be nice too, but I don't see him ever getting made. It would also be nice to get a repaint of RTS Bumblebee as Cliffjumper so I don't have to shell out the cash for him! I don't see us ever getting the Insecticons or the Dinobots though as Hasbro likes to make multiple toys out of one mold. There is nothing they could do with the mold except make up repaint characters. Which would be lame. Out of all the figures above though, I see us getting a deluxe Trailbreaker/Hoist next. One mold for twice the profit.....

You know, I was having a discussion about the quality of the DOTM toys with another board member who lives in my general area, and he expressed the same concern--that both he (and his wife) thought that the toys looked to be of lower overall quality. He was specifically referencing Voyager Prime and Megs, as well as some of the deluxes.

So here's a question--now that we've had a chance to get our grimy mitts on these things and are more familiar with them, what are everyone's opinions of the quality of the DOTM toys?

I've only gotten a few so far--Crankcase, Roadbuster, Megs, Sentinel Prime, and Shockwave, and I'll say that they're all pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Megs' big birthin' hips that he's got, but it's a solid toy overall...and Shockwave and Sentinel are both awesome, IMHO.

That said, I'm only planning on getting a few more items tops from this entire line--Leader Ironhide for sure, probably Skyhammer, and maybe Ultimate Optimus.

I only have Shockwave from the line. He is cool, but the plastics feels as if they are using a cheaper resin or using alternative materials as filler. The plastic has a brittle feel to it compared with the prior lines. A few of the later GEN figures are the same. The first figure I noticed this on was WFC Megatron. I work for a plastics manufacturer and I can tell you, for a durability standpoint, that is not good. It might be ok for display purposes, but anyone who wants to actually play with these might have trouble in the long run.

I would agree with Gambit on Shockwave about his quality and durability and the same with Skyhammer when i did have him, cause of loose joints and crappy MECH weapon I had to return him, but willing to give him a 2nd chance and about Megatron, well i dont have him, just seen him this morning, but could not get him cause not enough cash to grab him, but if your comparing Megatron and Prime, Megatron is winning hands down! but i would say if you compare all the Voyagers, it would be a tie between Shockwave and Megatron, Skyhammer in 2nd then Ironhide and lastly Prime. I just picked up Crankcase this morning only because of the clipping of the middle finger episode and i managed to get one without the clipped finger, this guy is kinda cool but man, he is cheaply made, very cheap! In fact, all knee and leg joints became very loose after the transformation and dont wanna take him back cause i dont think theres anymore without the clipped finger. I cant say about Sen Prime, i saw him today and had a semi good look, which i like him, but dont know if i want him though? As far as LC figures i have BB Prime, Shadow Cmd Megatron and Starscream, Sen Prime would be a nice touch for my leader class though. I after i pick Megatron, Skyhammer and very few deluxes like Nitro BB and whatever size Soundwave is, im done with Transformers.

We picked up Skyhammer and so far he is okay. I agree as well about the plastic. There is something different with it this time around that is not quite the same as the previous Transformers. The Crankcase bots I have I got because I just like the look in robot mode more than anything. In a way they remind me of the Insecticons. Aside from that though the build quality is not as good as previous with the Deluxe line. The smaller Voyager line also really turns me off. So much that even though I like Shockwave I may hold out a little longer to see if a Leader class of him comes in the future. The only other voyager class I'm looking to get is the red Ratchet. I know many do not like him but this coloration would resemble the squad vehicle in our local town and my wife is an ER nurse.

Right now my short list only includes leader Ironhide, Sentinel Prime, and possible later Shockwave if he comes to fruition. I'm keeping open the possibility of Human Alliance if they are up to snuff and anything interesting comes out in that particular line. Other than that I would be content with the Generations line continuing at the very least until I can get Wheeljack, Thundercracker, and Warpath.

As I said above they are probably using alternative materials, like repro or densified. We started using it a few years back. You can blend it with Prime (resin, not Optimus :D ) and to a certain extent retain the same durability. But, with the resin prices skyrocketing, more and more companies are doing this. BTW, neat little fact, if Hasbro is using alternative materials, some of it is actually diapers!! Not used, of course, but still. :)
When blended too much, as companies are doing now, it will make the plastic very brittle though and its life will be drastically reduced. In knowing that, the current fans might be sitting on gold as most of the figures will have broken and/or worn away in 10+ years. So, take good care of your current TF now as the Thunderwings and Skullgrins you are ripping on now for thier abundance just might become grails in the far future. :ic$:

I have seen him but not bought. He, along with the rest of the deluxes, look noticibly small. And the resin for him and Sideswipe is the techno grey, which is the cheapest to buy. Hence the reason why we are seeing alot of grey parts on transformers lately. But sideswipe is all grey and horrible looking as he is supposed to be silver. Starscream is the grey with black writing on him like ROTF.
