Preceptor as a battle station petition!

i don't know how hard it is, but i'd love it if the "Preceptor" alt-mode was either a new repair-only alt-mode or if at least put into the battle station cattagory so that alt-mode can repair. i think just having him as a weapon doesn't fit the "fluff" very well. (not to mention it doesn't fit in with the theme of my transformer's team ;)). please post here if you agree. if you disagree, please be contructive and give a your reasoning. thank you!

Not true. He's big enough to handle Micromen dudes, his third alt mode is suppose to be a "battle chariot" of sorts.

It all depends on what the tactics are like that OS comes up with and what alt mode classes there'll be.

Repair only? Would be nice, but from what OS has posted there probably won't be any single tactic alt classes in V2. Once the tactics and classes are finalised the support staff intend to troll through the alt modes with a fine tooth comb and I see no problem with Perceptor being given repair, it does after all fit the character.

G1 Perceptor was great. Any TF who can take out Devastator with a single shot...

I guess of all the tactics, he should have Strafe and Repair, but I honestly ain't bothered enough to try and get it changed.

Likewise, the CD Redalert/GF Firstgunner, should probably be a repair tank.

Going by his MTMTE bio, Perceptor would indeed operate as a Battle Station.

So yes, I would support such a change.

Tankor was a brute, not one for patching others up, and CATalyst is more of an engineer, not a medic.

Tankor was also Rhinox; although theoreticaly any type of alt should be capable of making repairs to another as long as the character has the proper know how. O and when dealing with tech engineer and medic are pretty much the same thing.

But as Tankor he was NOT a medic or engineer of any kind.

Would you call Grapple and Hoist medics? They built structures. Ratchet and occassionally Wheeljack repaired their comrades.

Of course by your reasoning, "when dealing with tech", a scientist could also be considered a medic as well, but would you want to apply repair to a Starscream or Jetfire alt?

Ratchet in the infiltration series (comics for those of you who don't know) ratchet is the medic/tech.
Adding a repair to a Starscream or jetfire wouldn't really work. Ok maybe for Jetfire but definatly not Starscream, i can't imagine him working on thundercracker in a surgery in a hospital somewhere.
My imagination isn't that great.

But as Tankor he was NOT a medic or engineer of any kind.
So after he was "awakened" he never made any changes to himself or his drones (sarcasm)
Would you call Grapple and Hoist medics? They built structures. Ratchet and occassionally Wheeljack repaired their comrades.
Not realy Grapple even though he was shown to have at least helped on at least one ocasion; still he had the capability. Maintnance of the other bots was one of Hoist's functions.
Of course by your reasoning, "when dealing with tech", a scientist could also be considered a medic as well, but would you want to apply repair to a Starscream or Jetfire alt?

And so they could; infact an engineer is a type of scientist. By the way Starscream and Bombshell were both shown repairing others several times. Its as I said any alt should theoreticaly have the ability as long as the have the propper knowledge.

Repair is something that has been a programmatic thorn in the side since day 1. Everyone is fortunate it still exists at all. It has been taken advantage of in the past and is now to a point where the tactic is stable enough to not be a problem.
I am not open to changing repair at all at this point (or adding it to alot of alts). Maybe later. But when the new game comes out you will have plenty of new tactics to keep you occupied.

i know the history of repair, and i understand your point of view. i don't know a thing about programing this game or version 2. that said, is it very hard to move the preceptor alt mode to the battle station section? really my biggest reason for having him there is that choose my tech-specs based on fluff instead of what wins and i'll be dropping xp into intel on him without any benefit other than being good fodder for Decepticons.
