Nice

How about a leader class?
It could have a some of the advantages that the other classes have to offer, the only difference would be that you can only create one leader class character for your team.

That would be cool to have.
These robot modes and new abilities are making me all excited. Just wish I had more excess XP to dump into the abilities....

Robot modes are specialized for certain abilities. Mkall suggested classifications such as: Assault-Type, Recon-Type, Melee-Type, etc. This is probably the format of types I will change it to.
When you upgrade the robot mode's "Special Abilities" you are basically making it more powerful in a certain area. The Metroplex and Metrotitan robots you have right now are specialized for strength.
Each upgrade on Metroplex's ability meter adds 1/2 point to his strength during combat. So a maxed out Metroplex could actually pack a punch of 15 strength.
Other bot types will do different things. Recon-Type will add to intelligence and stealth (and yes, intelligence will do stuff). Assault-Type will add to firepower.
This adds yet another dimension to configuring your bots.
Ok, not sure I follow here...So we have Metroplex, who is specialized for str. So if you select that robot alt, then dump 2 points into that tactic; and you already have 8 points set in your normal STR attribute; then you effectively have 9 points of STR going into a mission? Or, will this work like a Ram or Strafe, where you will see the robot transform and punch an enemy, and only in that robot mode do they have that 9 STR?
(Sorry for the stream of conscious writing, in the middle of some stuff at the office.)

Here's some other ideas:

Defense type: Raises edurance

Yep, I'm getting that too. Haven't actually tried clicking it again to see what happens if I try to overspend though.

I've kind of suggested this idea in two variations already.
The first was to designate one command unit on our team that would gain xp 5% faster than all our other bots - I was mostly looking toward the fun of having Assassination Scalp Hunts.
No one else liked the idea of one bot gaining xp faster though, and some thought designating a character as a 'commander' would be too limiting in Role Play terms.
Last I heard, instead, an icon might appear next to the name of your highest-performing-bot marking him as your 'champion'. I don't care for the idea b/c keeping my team leader and my champion the same bot is going to be tricky in an annoying sort of way. That idea is still a long way off though, so there's no telling what nuances will be involved in the final implementation that would redeem it.
Second idea was have one of the Robot-Modes be a "Leader-Class" that gave bonuses to rank. Unfortunately, to have any use right now (i.e. to let us equip Forcefield Armor), the system would have to be reworked for that one bot-mode to give out-of-mission bonuses.

Nothing happens, as far as I can tell it just refreshes the page.

We most definately need an endurance boosting bot mode, so those of us who prefer to slug it out at a steady pace can do so. And yes, making your character an endurance/absorb tank should be just as viable as the dodgy speed/avoid types.

Oh ,and on that leader type: I will volunteer my time for any beta/bug testing you might need for that one. Out of all the bot mode types that is the most important for those of us who consider our team to be one cohesive combat unit.

Let me see if I get the gist of the latest two:
Assault: "Designed to House Larger Firearms" - Firepower, perhaps?
Recon: "Designed to be Quick and Agile" - Speed and/or Avoid? (Are boosting tactics even being considered?)

Speed and Skill (and yes, skill will actually do stuff).Thunderscream wrote:Recon: "Designed to be Quick and Agile" - Speed and/or Avoid? (Are boosting tactics even being considered?)
Robot abilities won't have any effect on tactics since tactics are tied to your alt modes. You would get into a situation where robot mode 'X' requires alt mode 'X' and that would seriously over complicate things.

No more than 6 classes including protoform and you already have 4 of them.King Henrik wrote:i just have to chime in and say im loving this too but im also hesitant to assign all my bots robot modes to see what else OS has cooking... think you can let us now about haw many more classes will be added or can tell us when youre done adding them all?
I'll know for sure in a couple more day when I'm done adding them.
As for a leader class....Not until after HMW2.
One step at a time.

I'm enjoying this too. But it pisses me of that I made some errors in assigning some robot modes. My Alt-mode isn't available anymore! I guess I'll have to wait untill I get the right alt-mode again to fix it. Well anyway it won't matter much once HMW2 will arrive.
Will 2 Assault type point count for Firepower when I take a weapon too? Does it work right now?

Tell me about it. I'd have to get rid of the Fallen Alt.

If I understand this statement correctly, we now have four bot classes (Protoform, Assault, Melee, and Recon) with two more in development (possibly affecting Courage and Endurance)?

No, it won't. Stat Bonuses only count IN combat. That's why the Rank Bonus category isn't relevant until v2.
