Where are the heat seeking laser blasters? Does anyone have any to unload? I am still looking for some good level 1 weapons.

HSLBs? doesn't the AWC have a decent config advice thread? why do you some of them?

just becausa a weapon is popular doesn't mean it's better; the PPFs are inferior to the DBPSS but the PPFs are sold out, and the DBPSS still has more than 100 in stock despite it's better stat line.

It's because they're cheaper! At low level 1 it's hard to gather 30k energon for the shotgun - (quick someone donate to jetfire2004!) It's easier at level 0!

Decent weapons (from level 1-3 I wouldn't personally own anything not on this list, I'd upgrade strength instead) in reverse order.
Disruptors
X-rays
PPF
Plasma Shotgun
Dol
Electric Cannon (skip if you have the stats for an energon crossbow)
Energon Crossbow
Battle Blades
Black Magic (only equipped on strafers to free up more blades for the rest of my team)

When RL allows I'll be updating the help file - probably just in time for the reset!

the HSLBS have a stupidly long charge time, almost as stupidely long as the black magic. Going off my recent mission list, my average mission length is 229 secons or 2:49, that's 3 shots with HSLBs at best (assuming i survive or am the last to die), i can get 12 shots with DPBSS/PPFs/Blades in the same amount of time. the BMs max at 2 shots in that time.

the only time i would suggest using the BM/HSLB is if you are seiriously under-couraged or facing opposition where you will not survive longer than 30 seconds.

the electric cannon is a viable Dol replacement as it's not really that bad a weapon but it is expensive substitute, you can by 20 Dols for it's price tag, and they are marginally faster, and less xp consumptive.

really AWC, have you no weapons research program?

Tammuz despite having been here 6 months I'm Still in awe of your comprehensive weapons knowledge. Do you not worry about the sheer amount of space that's taking up in your brain??!?! :P

To clarify my Black Magic situation.
1 - I couldn't get anymore blades at the time (now I can I can't be bothered - other people can get more use out of them than me)
2 - I wanted to increase FRP on my strafers anyway
3 - across the last 20 missions for each I've not seen them punch or kick they pretty much strafe, strafe, strafe, Fire BM, strafe, Die horribly after whoreing XP. So I can't recommend them for any other config.
4 - It's gonna work quite well for one character (scientist) to be experimenting with Black Magic in a fic/rp kinda way.

I have external memory it's all written down on my arms!

but seriously point 1 i can understand, availabilty is a very big issue, but other people being able to use them better is just fallacy, while it's true that strength increases the blades damage, at levels where high strength bots exist their tend to invariably be high endurance and high armour bots which is big mitigater; it's not true to say that each point in strength is absorbed by a point in endurance but it damn near close to that, and having some decent rank armour and strength to wear a tonne or 5 really will absorb the strength bonus the blades gain.

being that str multiplies damage it does get stupidely good, but then armour and endurance also are multiplacative.

in effect the greater the raw damage of your weapon the more it absorbed by end and armour.and within 5% the blades and BM are identical in respect to damage.

though it is a bit silly at level any level to devote half your upgrades to a weapon,

Point 2 is convieniet but unnescary, you can always upgrade past your weapons stat requirments; it has no inherent disadvantege.

point 3 is a very, very good point.

and point 4 is strategically problematic, but that doesn't really matter (oh the pain of level 0 with only swords and maces....really it's a good thing the blades are so good or I'd be screwed, i only use the melee weapons Maces>VAs>RMF>Blades, other wise I'd be trying to config with Electron scimitars, twin swords and RTWSs, which don't really work)

you might want to flirt with psychout for the Blades... :P

Is that why they call it an armoury?

By other "people be able to use them better" was more aimed at the fact that I've got 4 sets of blades and some people have none. I'm not just greedy enough. I've got enough Blades & Dols for my "ranged" warriors and the brawlers are unarmed.

In the end I took the view that with only about a month left of HMW-V1 I'd play around with stuff and see what happens, maybe try and get a 100% strafe if I can, so the upgrades were gonna already be there.

HeHehe, I did once envision playing around with Twins Swords but I really could not see the benefit of having to upgrade to 6SKL at all.

100% strafes have been demonstrated at 4 FP, you'd do better upping strafe than firepower.

I really ought to go finish the Strafe experiment.

Hmm,

OK I've got 292k XP to play with on a resettable strafer.
He's currently 5CRG, 6FRP, 2SKL, 6STRAFE - Black Magic

Top whack I can squeeze 2 CRG, 4FRP, 8 STRAFE - Electric Cannon
Do you reckon 7 Strafe 4 FRP might do it for a 100% as it'd make for a more rounded bot?

I know 4fp 7strafe can do 81%, but thats at level 5 where people have endurance....if end affects strafe damages the same was as it does ram and repair damage, you should be able to do 100% but you will need to get totally swamped by low end cons

Actually finding a mission that isn't already filled with low level autobots is hard enough right now, honestly you'd think someone gave them an xp boost or something!

Still I'll give it a try, Cheers Tammuz!

Ok, ok, I am glad for all of the info on weapons, but the primary reason I asked is because my highest level only has FP = 1. Now, none of the weapons brought up are listed for me to buy - curses!

the 2FP Double Barrel Plasma Shell Shotgun(or DBPSS for those who prefer not to type it out) is the only available "Decent weapon" left at the lower end, but as SC said it costs 30K

so you'll either need to beg some energon off your faction, or beg someone to sell the cheaper Posionos Paraylyser fluides(1fp/1skl)

I guess I will have to wait until I upgrade to 2 FP - luckily I have already begged enough and I have plenty of energon.

Having seen your bots configs they seem to be split between Str & Spd. At the level you're at I'd say you're better of specialising in pretty much one of the other, at least until you get more upgrades open to you.
Guessing here but I reckon 4str is more powerful than the HSLB anyway (tammuz?), definately a better option then them whatever.
I'd consider resetting some other bots to spd and 2 frp and buying shotguns or Dols if you can blag them.
Most of all don't be afreid of that reset button, it's your friend unless you have a rare alt or loads of armour. I've checked out your team and you're got energon to spare at the moment and you've only got about 1 month to spend it in.
