My wife is half-chinese. You might never know it though.
She doesn't go around with chop-sticks in her hair, she doesn't play into any noticable stereotype, and yet I'm sure you'd call her 'panda express asian' as well.
Except for the fact that while people my not force their culture down other people's throats, they may in fact retain that family culture in other ways.
I'm not being touchy about ethnicity issues, we make jokes at home about all manner of things, Chinese, American, white, yellow. That's a different thing.
But to tell someone they don't represent or aren't a part of their heritage because they don't portray some stupid stereotype is just backhanded racism.
